Considering they a) didn't have to backpedal on 3/4 of their plans and b) haven't done much besides announced a release date and showed a few games...I'm not sure what people are getting "sick" of.

Knowing when they can buy their consoles? Not having to figure out if there is room in their closets for a mandatory $100 camera?

I wasn't there for it, but MS and Sony did two presentations at the GameStop Expo. From what I heard:

Major Nelson came out for the MS presentation, handed out two mics, and asked the group what did they want to know about the One. No bullshit, straight up Q&A.

Sony's was a glorified highlight reel where it was non-stop videos.

Believe what you want, but MS will almost certainly take first place again the generation, and thankfully for Nintendo shooting themselves, Sony will hold on to second. Once the consoles launch and are out for a while, people will see that the Xbox has a lot more to offer in the long run, despite early "mistakes". I still believe that playing BluRay was the main reason the PS3 sold probably half of their units, and now that is no longer in their favor.

I'm officially done arguing about which system is better etc etc etc and will only post relevant information. You and chess (still sure you guys are the same) can continue to get super excited about F2P PC ports and budget indie titles

Quoting this for posterity, so when the next generation rolls around, and if any of us are still here, we can see if you need to eat crow.

Is there something we should know?

...and that's what people are getting "sick of?"

One could argue there are more questions about the One. I think Sony has done a great job of saying "here's our console, here's the price, here's when it comes out, here are some games."

Absolutely.

As much as I trust Matt's fair and balanced objectivity, and as much as I admire his ability to find a silver lining in every cloud, here's a transcript of the Q&A:

http://raptr.com/igrChief/news/5220f...-gamestop-expo

And here's a pirate video of the Sony event. There isn't anything new really but they do show some new AC footage, so it's kind of a pirate video of a pirate video. The sound cuts in and out during the intro music to avoid copyright issues.

Draw your own conclusions about which position you'd rather be in.

I think Sony's doing a good job of just letting the console do the talking. When you have to keep having Q&A's and sending out press releases and tweets to answer questions for your console this close to launch something is definitely wrong.

Off screen Ryse: Son of Rome footage from PAX this weekend.

Needless to say, Matt loved it, and I'm probably not the best person to assess X1 games, but I'd love to hear somebody else's assessment, because it looks like an absolute train wreck to me.

The hit detection is just...and I think they want you to push A.

I can say with 100% certainty that this will not be the case.

The only reason why it seems the tide is turning is because X1 was dead in the water six weeks ago. Now it's slightly less so.
Agreed for the most part, the idea that people are disappointed in the PS4 is ridiculous hyperbole. The tide is far from turning as far as the One leading the way anytime soon this launch, but I do get the impression that more then a few people are starting to warm to some of the One's features. I do think they're doing better then just "less slightly" above being dead in the water though.

Pretty much exactly stuff like this. MS is out there doing stuff and talking to people promoting the benefits of their product.

Sony is sending out "clever" tweets and doing nothing.

It really comes down to Sony being too cocky and thinking they already won mixed with the fact that they still have nothing of real interest announced. Heck, they still don't have things running on retail kits (unless PAX changed that) whereas MS does despite their made up reports of console manufacturing problems and them not being ready to ship.

Yeah, it looks like they still have some work to do on it and they need to get rid of the stupid A button that is on the screen the entire time for objectives.

I do agree with this a bit. Just a week ago the assumption was that the One had hardware difficulties and supply issues, and back at E3 they got flack for running demos using PC's. While at the end of the day it's not a big deal for either company, I think it's a positive that 3rd party games were running on Xbox One hardware. To me that's not a negative for Sony and it's silly to take that angle since it has less to do with the PS4 and more to do with the One; it's a positive that Microsoft at least isn't as incompetent and has some of their shit together, unlike previous assumptions about the hardware.

Replace the bolded section above with "Titanfall", and I agree with every word of this.

That game has problems.

Ryse looks like a good game at about $10 a year after launch to play, or a rental at best.

I was surprised that he was more enamored with the Xbox One, but mainly because of the TV/Cable intergration with the system. A feature I'm not really psyched for, as I don't see myself turning the Xbox One on every time I just want to watch TV. He did say that the switching between playing a game, exiting to watch TV, then going back to the game was really seamless, and fast. The other standouts for him were Watch Dogs, and Dead Rising 3 which he says looked amazing.

I still currently have a pre-order on both systems, but can only grab one at launch. I wish I knew the release date of the Xbox One, although I don't know that a week or two earlier/later would make a difference.
I'm with you about not being psyched for the TV/Cable integration. After replacing my 360 three times for red ring issues allegedly related to overheating, I'm not exactly pumped to leave my Xbox on for longer than necessary just to do something I can do with my other universal remote

Sure, but it's on all these lists telling me how much better the X1's launch lineup is...along with:
  1. Dead Rising 3, which looks fun but is "targeting 30 FPS"
  2. Killer Instinct, which is a F2P update of a game that wasn't as good as people remember, and
  3. Forza 5, which legitimately looks like a quality game.
To be fair, I'm not yet impressed with the PS4 launch titles either. Driveclub is making improvements every time I see it, but it hasn't proven that it can compete with Forza. Killzone is super shiny with tons of lighting and particle effects, but I'm suspect of the core game and whether it can compete with both CoD and BF at launch. Knack is a game about breaking things where you don't really seem to be able to break much, but I think it's the most likely to surprise people at launch.

Exactly. I don't really have any questions about the PS4(outside of seeing party chat in action). I know what I'm getting.

MS is still in damage control mode. They have to get out there and do Q&A with people because their message has been FUBAR all summer.

Sony has sold their console to the core gamer this summer. They're just in a holding pattern until it's time to market it to the masses prior to launch. I'm not sure how that can be construed as cocky.

If Discostu had added "in the US" then he may have a point, but since Xbox has never won a generation overall it's a bold call.

With Sony, as much as I like their support of indies, I can't help but feel there is too much focus on them right now.

Re: What console are you buying at launch? (Post MS180 Edition)

I know a bunch of people (some of them own an Xbox) who plan to buy a PS4, not necessarily at launch but in the medium term. Why? "It's cheaper and I don't need a camera". As simple as that. Hardcore gamers make the mistake of thinking that everybody buying a console is a hardcore gamer. A whole bunch of people including me don't give a hoot about what so and so said at some conference or who tweeted what when. Nor do they know or care about "Titanfall" being an Xbox exclusive...

Some good news for X1:

All of its launch exclusives are in the top 40 preorders (wasn't the case a few weeks ago), and although PS4 maintains an overall lead, X1's overall standing for preorders has improved a bit as well.

Note that this is U.S. only.
