It's an hour going around the city, getting the parts for your hacking phone thingy and then putting it together.

That whole 60 minute thing is actually worth talking about. It seems like (generalizing here) Sony's strategy is to get exclusive content for their versions of games (like they did for Arkham Asylum), and Microsoft's strategy is to get timed DLC for the biggest games (CoD).
I know which strategy, I prefer...curious what others think.

I would prefer exclusive content over timed DLC, especially if the content is good.

Then again, the downside is we may end up with content like Catwoman for Arkham City (which I know wasn't just for Sony), that kills the momentum of the game and feels like a total afterthought.

Timed isn't a big deal since there isn't cross platform play. As long as all PS4ers are getting content the same day it doesn't matter when it hits in relation to Xbox.
Exclusive content is a better proposition in theory, but if we're talking useless costumes or weapon skins then its pretty worthless.

It's a loaded question with an obvious answer, I suppose.
And I guess the real question is which one is more likely to move consoles...or do they both exist only as ammo in fanboy arguments and little else?
I don't think either one would make me buy a console unless it was maybe something like exclusive maps (not timed but exclusive) for a multiplayer game I really was in to. But if I had both consoles, it might move me to pick one version over the other.

For me, performance trumps extras. If I heard a game was being developed to take advantage of a specific system, I'd get that version. I think, with the similarity in architecture between the new consoles, that will be less of an issue, although I can see the PS4's RAM giving it an advantage. Then again, MS could counter that with cloud processing, so it'll probably be a wash.
But, as I said, if I even get an XO, it will be for exclusives only. The PS4 will be my main gaming machine this generation.

I have yet to see proof that Cloud Processing is anything more than a pipe dream for gaming.
The PS4 is a more powerful system even if you disregard the RAM speeds.

I don't buy DLC, so a timed exclusive DLC is meaningless to me.
Since I like to have options open, I'm not really excited about the idea of console exclusive content. Just because I may never get an Xbox One, doesn't mean that I want Xbox One owners to get screwed.

PS4. I'm sure the XB1 will have great games down the line but for now I'm not seeing anything that will get me to buy one at Launch. Fable 4 might be the one to get me to buy a one.
I would love for them to release a gamer edition where they drop the Kinnect 2 but i doubt that will ever happen.

Poll isn't nearly as bad as before but it's still a bloodbath.
Microsoft needs to get their shit together in a big way. I want them around to keep Sony honest and to keep them from turning into the Sony of 2006 when they assumed that everybody who owned a PS2 would buy a PS3 regardless of cost or content. Amazingly, Microsoft seems to be making the exact same mistake...taking gamers for granted in their quest for the living room.

So I was in a GameStop on Sunday, waiting in line, and the person in front of me was asked if he'd like to preorder any of the new consoles. He says no, because he heard the One won't play used games. The clerk says "That's right, and that's why you should go ahead and pre-order the PS4."

PS4 with Killzone 4 at launch. I'm positive I'll be getting a XB1 down the road though - I'm just not interested in any of the XB1 exclusives at launch. First game I'm looking forward to is Titan Fall in the spring and I'm sure that is going to be a timed exclusive and pop up on the PS4 too.

Probably neither right at launch but thinking PS4 at some point. The XBox one and it's media capabilities while cool don't really interest me much and having had a PS3 I like it's exclusives better.

Neither. I'll wait 'til more games are out and there's a price drop (or two) before even considering a PS4 (which is the only new console that appeals to me).

Has either company release controller battery life numbers yet? I was hoping for WiiU levels of awesomeness but with the PS4 having a touch screen and the 360 pad having two more rumble motors I think 80 hours is a pipe dream.

Of course.
