Seriously...46 to 1...putting the One in Xbone. |
Re: Post E3: What're ya buyin?
Going with PS4. I love the Infamous games. there downloadable games are always great and Naughty Dog has had a great track record with every game i buy from them. And I'm guessing we're getting Little Big Planet 3 eventually?

PS4 for me.

Re: Post E3: What're ya buyin?
Right now, it looks like PS4 for me at launch and then an Xbox One after the first price drop, or whenever the first must-have Xbox One exclusive game comes out. I can't justify the cost of getting both at launch, so I'm opting for the cheaper and more consumer-friendly of the two.

PS4. I just got back from E3 Gaming Expo. Going back again this Thursday. Tired as f*ck!

Microsoft has to be in full-blown panic-mode right now. Sounds like full-blown ego explosion, we'll ride 'em roughshod, they'll take what we give 'em mode to me. I doubt that we'll see a reversal until we see Don Mattrick tender his resignation. Last I heard MS was planning on expanding his role in the company. I've said that I hated the Wii. What I really meant was that I hated the controls. The Xbone is the first console that I've ever felt loathing for. That loathing has spilled out onto the entirety of Microsoft. I've been a pretty steady customer, on a variety of fronts, until now. |

Honestly I've really hated the direction they've taken video gaming since they started back in 2001. It's not entirely their fault that the gritty grey & brown military shooter fad caught on so hard with gaming, but they are certainly the most directly responsible for it and the rise of bro gamers.

How so? Halo? Halo is one of the more colorful shooters out there with vivid forests, lush landscapes, snowbound levels, lots of blue & purple interiors, etc. I think you need to point that misplaced aggression to CoD. I believe Microsoft set the stage for a COD audience with their heavy focus on FPS's, military shooters (Tom Clancy anyone?), and online focus. Now you could argue that their decisions have led to many good innovations, and they have, but I also feel Microsoft is in part responsible for what I said earlier, and gaming becoming more mainstream and as a consequence, developers becoming more risk averse. Not really an intentional result so much as a byproduct. the original Halo's (1+2 mainly) were awesome for their time, I had loads of fun running through co-op with friends and jumping online for the first time back in 2004. I hate to say it but that's a novelty that's worn off, I personally do not enjoy online much anymore unless it's with friends and everyone else muted. I was just more of a ps1 and ps2 guy, and that era of gaming already seems radically different from today |

Yeah, agression was a poor word choice.

Recent reports were that MS was planning to restructure. He'd be one of the ones gaining even more power at MS. From Wikipedia: "Don A. Mattrick[1] (born 13 February 1964) is currently the President of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft.[2] In this role he is responsible for a collection of consumer businesses including Xbox 360, Xbox Live, Kinect, TV Music and Video services, Mediaroom, as well as PC and mobile interactive entertainment. Prior to joining Microsoft in 2007, Mattrick served as the President of Worldwide Studios for Electronic Arts, where he worked for 25 years." |

i voted neither right now. i haven't played a console game since early 2012. i have been playing games on my laptop. One reason is, I can get GREAT deals on PC games. There are mindboggling deals to be had on a regular basis with PC games. I get 75%+ off games all the time with Steam, Amazon Downloads, Gamefly downloads, GreenManGaming, Gamestop downloads. Geez with Humble Bundle I got Alan Wake with all DLC, American Nightmare, and other random Alan Wake stuff for a measily $1.00. I am talking $1.00 for everything. That is crazy, you can't get deals like that on console games. Not to mention all of the free 2 play games that are available to me.
While I'm not happy about what MS is doing (with consoles and other areas like Windows 8), I'm actually kind of hoping the PS4 doesn't completely dominate the console war. If the PS4 gets a PS2-like share of the market, it could cause developers to develop many exclusive games for it. While that would be great for PS4 owners, I believe the lack of a dominant console may have helped the PC this generation, since developers had to go multiplatform and couldn't just focus on one system. |
Re: Post E3: What're ya buyin?
They've got two votes now. They don't have to explain themselves at all, but I am curious if the appeal would be for Xbox exclusives or strict brand loyalty (or something else like controller preference).

This is where I'm at as well. You don't even have to be a "traditional" PC gamer now, the kind that clings to a mouse and keyboard for any type of game. The PC has gotten quite a few console-like games in the last several years, perhaps facilitated by MS establishing the 360 controller as a standard. Of course you also get access to games that would rarely be released on the consoles as well, like RTS and MMORPGs.
