are there any negative consequences to hacking people? i have passed over taking money from from several people based on their little dossier thing that pops up. i usually just take from people that seem bad. any reason to continue along that path or should i just take money from everyone?

Yeah, that's been my experience with the game so far. I've only played about two campaign missions and the rest has just been killing criminals.

I completely agree. While I am enjoying the game so far, I would hate for Ubisoft to ruin the franchise by switching it to a yearly cycle a la Assassins Creed and Just Dance. If The Crew and The Division are also hits, maybe they'll disperse their releases further out.

Re: Watch Dogs

They won't disperse them. They have every intention of turning this into an annual franchise, along with AC.

Agreed. They do a decent job of making it feel like Chicago, sometimes. But it's not laid out like Chicago at all. But I'm sure that's just to make it more fun and playable, as a more true to life Chicago may not have worked as well.

For sure.

I know we are on one of the biggest lakes in the world and also have the Chicago river but man looking at that map it almost looks like we're Venice.

Aiden's voice bugs the shit out of me. He sounds like Darkman, or one of the ghouls from Fallout New Vegas (I forgot his name).

I can't definitively say since I've only been playing about 5 hours or so but i have taken money from every person I can and haven't noticed anything negative happen yet.

I know there is some sort of reputation bar but it has never moved from me hacking money away from people. Plus a review I read basically said that the rep bar is completely useless in this game.

How the hell do you escape the police in this? Every time I do they just find me again with some yellow radar. Grrrr.

Also....not even close to Chicago aside from the landmarks.

Hell, even the amount of shootings seems low compared to real life...

I downloaded and installed everything and played for about 30 mnutes. I get a pop up pausing the screen with an alert "Installing 66 % complete" What the hell?! I bought and downloaded the digital version. How can a digital version still need to install???

I hope that's really, really wrong. I want to play this game.

UPS f'd up my copy of the new Wolfenstein after it was already in town. It was delivered to another state site somehow, and I didn't get it until last Friday.

Drive off the road, like some grassy area, and then ditch the car. Seems to work for me most of the time.

Well, yeah that works if you're just trying to ditch the cops, but if you're doing a Fixer mission, it requires you to return the car and yes, it's rigged. No matter how clever you are in evading and hiding, those green circles seem to find you again. I wonder if I'm supposed to get a jammer or something before doing those missions. This is frustrating right now...

Unfortunately, there hasn't been a sandbox game invented that can tame the immortal trees of the city.

I played for about a half an hour last night...not really a chance to explore much, just enough to start learning the controls and get out of the stadium.

Not sure I've grasped the concept of hacking people yet - if you hack a 'good' person, does that count against you - or is is only if you then do something with their information? In the short time I played, I was unsure whether hacking someone filed away their info for use later, or if it did something immediately. Oh well, I'm sure I'll figure it out as I go along. The only person I hacked that seemed to 'do' anything for me was the security guard the game asks you to hack.

I heard a cheap way to escape is by water.

Yeah, a couple hours in and I'm not sure I know what I'm doing yet. On the "crime in progress" things, I go to stop the crime, but I'm "discovered" every single time, only because I have no idea who can see me, as I can't seem to be able to pinpoint the perps.

hacking random people either gives you money, access to new vehicles, or generated info for possible optional side missions

in general there really doesn't seem to be any negative consequences (which is too bad) for hacking every hackable NPC you see on the street

Did anyone opt out the option of someone hacking into your game? It doesn't really sound appealing and all that fun, but I want to make sure it's not really taking away from the experience

I haven't opted out yet because there's an achievement for having 5 people tail you without ever knowing.

Other than that, turning it off only removes the few skills you could potentially earn with enough online points. Not a huge loss.

Progress further in the story and it will change.

I was surprised it appears the one on one online hacking/racing appears to not require Plus in order to be able to use
