Wow, if the XB1 isn't going to pass through 5.1 (without an update) then I really can't use it as a pass-through for anything. How does that make sense? Both of these systems have some real failures at this launch that make absolutely zero sense.

i thought the problem wasn't that it wasn't passing through the sound, it was that for devices doing DD, the Xbox One was having problems switching to DTS, leaving it in stereo. at least that is what i read.

Fuck I just realized i have no clue what my password is for Live. I always have the 360 auto sign in and haven't entered my password in years. That's probably gonna be an issue when i set up Live on the One.

I got my Amazon order in at around 8:15 this morning. Since then, it has said that I'd receive it on the 26th. I just did a quick chat with Amazon support and all I wanted was to see if there was any chance it would possibly get to me on the 22nd instead of the 26th. This is what happened...

The verdict. A new console may live or die based on its initial games, and here is where the Xbox One trumps the PlayStation 4. Both Ryse and Forza Motorsport are the kind of graphical showcases that should move consoles throughout the holiday season. Microsoft and Sony are positioning their consoles as multi-purpose entertainment hubs for the living room, and some consumers may make their decision simply based on price. (After all, the PlayStation 4 is $100 less.) But if Microsoft can iron out some performance quirks around voice recognition and Snap, the decision won't be too hard: it's far easier to glimpse the future potential in the Xbox One, starting with 10 seconds of time and the simple two-word voice command: "Xbox on." |
