Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
On the One : Are the vents on the top or sides or both? I was planning on stacking next and current gen systems in my cabinet. My 360 gets blazing hot if anything is on top of it, so I hope I can put it on top of the one safely.

Because people are mad, yo. Freedom of the people, bitch.
I did my entertainment center clean up yesterday. I think the One will be placed on top of my Directv receiver, depending on size. |

Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
Questions about saving games/cloud/stand by mode.
1) What are my options at saving games? For example, I play alot of sports games and often will play franchise mode where one game may take over an hour. Sometimes I will play half the game before heading out for work etc. With the X1 will I have the option to save the game at any point and return at the exact point? On current gen Madden I would have to hit pause and return later which isnt optimal. Would simply telling the X1 to go to the homescreen do a quasi save in that I can return at the game in a few hours with the system being in standby mode? Even a full day later without it running full power? 2) Is there a command to put the X1 i standby mode or does that happen after a period of time without using it? 3) One of the recent videos showed how I can be playing lets say Madden. Next my wife could come in and go to her "stuff' and queue up Just Dance and we could in theory bounce back and forth where we left off without losing progress since the games are saved on the HD. Am I uderstading this correctly? Can I do the same in theory bouncing from one game to the next under my account and be right where I left off or is there a need to save a game, end it and then go to another game? Thanks in advance |
Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
Good questions. We don't know for sure all that stuff yet, but...
1) I believe you just hit the "guide button" to return to the main screen, placing your game in a save state. 2) Guide button again, or there is an Kinect command to do it too... there'll be a way to get it to go to "sleep". Probably "Xbox, sleep". 3) That one I'm not sure about yet. |

I've tried searching, but did someone post a Kinect cover in this thread that slides over the lens? I could have sworn it was here somewhere...

Yeah, someone did. It was like a Kinect eye patch.
EDIT: Looks like Deftones found it |

http://newlaunches.com/wp-content/up...e-hardware.jpg http://newlaunches.com/wp-content/up...e-hardware.jpg It looks like the airflow is designed to pull cool air in from the top and exhaust through the sides and back. Overall the new consoles should run cooler than last generation, but I'd still keep at least an inch of clearance on the top. |

Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
I don't own it, but I don't find it hideous by any standard. You have fans to keep your equipment from overheating, controller/peripheral side stands. Seems fairly practical; not bad for a DIY set up.

Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
Personally coming from working with, on and repairing wood it's a pretty good concept though a bit overkill with the fans. Since the back is entirely open the fans don't really serve a purpose...unless you like your space lit up in blue. Nice job on the inlay shelf tracks and great idea on how to hang the controllers. A nice touch would've been make a glass door for the front.
Tip: to help with airflow under electronics or when stacking try getting some cabinet hardware for drawers and doors...like brass or chrome pulls and use with double stick tape on the bottom. Sort of dresses it up instead of wood boards. |

Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
Finally after many sleepless nights I decided to get a Xbox One and cancel my PS4 preorder. I'll buy one next year. Dead Rising 3 and the controller were the deciding factors. I went to Best Buy to pre order Dead Rising 3 to go along with my already pre-ordered Xbox. They didn't know how the pre order process worked. Two checkers and the manager couldn't get it to work and really couldn't grasp the concept. They were totally clueless. It was pretty shocking like I was the only one who has preordered a game before. Maybe I am? I said forget it in disgust and left.
Maybe they'll have plenty at midnight on launch day but I wanted to be sure I had one. I've expected plenty of stock before and have been disappointed. Nothing worse then having the system with no games for 12 hours after I pick it up. Any of you picking it up at midnight pre order the games too or finding them elsewhere the day after? Also I'm a little nervous about the idiots working at Best Buy. Is the launch gonna go smoothly there? I doubt it. |
