The shows wouldn't exist without MS wanting some exclusive TV programming, I don't see a problem with it.

Maybe they'll bring back Firefly and the internet will collapse into itself.

I'm willing to bet most of it won't be worth watching, and if it is, then people will have to make a decision if it's worth $500+$60 a year to watch it.
Unless it can be watched on a 360, in which case, it's not a big deal at all. |

So wait, there is going to be an exclusive Halo series on Xbox Live only for Xbox members. You are angry that you can't view that service on another video service or PSN. Is that my take on your comments? If people have exclusive content, I see that as a good thing. It helps sway people one way or another.
It's more a concern for companies that buy a show or series to sell hardware - Must own an LG TV to watch this one, Sony Blu-ray player to watch that one, Xbox One to watch this one, etc; What ended up happening with that Xbox original movie that came out last year? Edit: Was this year my bad. Ah well no big deal. Just a trend I don't want to see started. |

Crimson Dragon will only be $19.99, and those of us who buy it before the end of the year will get an exclusive dragon. That makes it a whole helluva lot more compelling to me. |

For some reason, this is how I always pictured Kinect working. And then realizing that nobody would have the physical ability to play any games on it. |

No real concerns really, since we're not going to get anything remotely good out of this endeavor, especially not right from the start. |

Wait are people seriously confused that the Halo series isn't on PSN?!

re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
I don't think anyone is that dumb. Could be wrong. I was arguing that subscription based limitations are fine, if it's hardware specific for a video it'd be rubbish.

Xbox One game/controller preorders are $48 at toysrus.com with the coupon FRIENDS20, and preorders get free shipping, so...yeah, helluva deal.
The thread on SlickDeals says it's good for: Call of Duty: Ghosts Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Battlefield 4 Forza 5 Day One Edition Ryse: Son of Rome Day One Edition Just Dance 2014 Kingdom Hearts III Destiny EA Sports UFC NBA Live 14 Titanfall FIFA 14 NBA 2K14 Final Fantasy XV Need for Speed Rivals Madden 25 Thief Dead Rising 3 Day One Edition Wireless Controller |
re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
Keep your fingers crossed that you don't get those orders canceled. The fine print of the coupon says it's not valid on pre-orders or video game hardware.
Xbox Live Arcade will have a 3 hour show from TGS tomorrow: http://playxbla.com/introducing-the-...xbox-one-show/ The first stream starts tomorrow at 11 A.M. PST on our official Twitch channel, Twitch.TV.com/Microsoft Studios. Tomorrow’s schedule will feature a THREE HOUR look at what those lucky enough to attend the Tokyo Game Show are getting to see! Mark those calenders and get your questions ready for everything you could want to know about Killer Instinct, Powerstar Golf, and Crimson Dragon! |

The shows would probably be used to encourage existing owners to sign up for Gold, instead of being a system seller. The memberships bring in a lot of money.

re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
I was calling bullshit on hardware dependent video access in general, it'd be a horrible trend - kind of like having blu-ray players, but certain movies only work with certain players. But then again I'm going to own an Xbox One at some point, and the thought of a Microsoft / Halo series sounds pretty awful to begin with.
They need to bring 1 vs 100 back in some capacity. |
re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
I'll only watch it if they get Lou Albano to play Master Chief.

I think that's pretty much Rich's point. You can only watch multicast tournaments on Directv with an HD receiver now. You like to watch a major tournament with a decent selection, too bad, not happening anymore. I don't think it's bs if the show perhaps coexists with a game. I'm wondering if the Halo series will go the Defiance route, at least to a certain extent. I've never played the game or watched the show, but the one guy I spoke with at work one day was playing it and he liked the concept (anecdotal evidence, I know). I wouldn't be surprised. Like I said, if you don't want to watch the exclusives or think it's bs you need a one to do so, well don't get one. It's pretty simple. By the time this Halo series is probably going to premiere, the One will have been out for a while, and not nearly as many people will be bothering with a 360 at that point. |
re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
Actually, Sunday Ticket is available on tablets, PCs, Playstation 3s, Dish Network, etc;
In fact, if you ordered Madden 25 "Anniversary Edition" or whatever it was from Amazon you got the season for free. A better example would be DirecTV's deal where they made Damages Season 4 and 5, and everyone else had to wait until it was out on blu/dvd (though I think even the Audience Channel is available online, but with hoops to jump through). It wasn't a complaint against anything in specific, especially not a Halo series (while the world held a lot of wonder and appeal in Halo 1, they sort of shit all over it with Halo 2, 3, 4 and all the side crap. It just went in an incredibly uninteresting direction for me.), I just don't like the idea of hardware-specific TV shows, that's all. Also in both examples, you can't really connect to a satellite without a dish of some sort. You can still connect to the internet without an Xbox One. It wasn't a super major complaint, just something I - me personally, literally this guy right here - think is pretty lame. |
re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
Not on PS3 anymore
http://kotaku.com/nfls-sunday-ticket...n-3-1130188425 Dish Network only has Red Zone, been that way for years. Only have it on tablet and such with a Directv account. You still had to buy Madden 25, which is just an added bonus. Whether or not you care for Halo is irrelevant, but do find it interesting that you think there's a real distinction between hardware and a service. Clearly Microsoft wants to be both. If you don't like it, don't watch/buy it. This is a free market. Btw, I don't care much for American football, just pointing out an example of how hardware and service are mainly exclusive. I can't imagine wanting to watch it on a pc or tablet, but to each their own. |
