Also, I would bet dollars to donuts she's never played a video game in her life...not a comment on her sex but rather her background. |

For me this was an issue of selling the message. Technically speaking everything looked according to modern times. Books, music, movies, etc. moved that way. Yes, book lovers, music lovers, etc. protested but at the end saw the benefits and moved on.

It does make sense though, since PC software cannot be bought on physical media anymore.

Which is funny because two weeks ago when it was all about DRM and digital, supporters claimed you could still buy PC games on disc.
So which is it? People need to make up their damn minds. rotfl |
re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
I bought Diablo 3 on disc. Fuck me, right?

re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
Maybe that can be the launch slogan for the Xbox One. "It's not that terrible."

But there's a change in paradigm, just like what they were trying to do here. And Microsoft was trying to go with the flow too there, in Windows 8.
In my case, being a desktop user, I don't care about Metro applications, I'm always in the Desktop. |

Maybe I didn't read that here though. Speaking of other places, been on CAG (more specifically the X1 thread) lately? Some crazy fuckers over there. |
re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
Meaning....?

re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
Rich was saying all digital made sense because you can't buy PC games on disc. Either you can or you can't, it depends on which way the wind blows on the internet. I just found it funny.
or we say the 4th of July drinking has begun early. Honestly? Spoiler:

I should change that comment to say its pretty good instead, as I really I meant it's not as terrible as people say or think, especially those who either don't actually run it or have only spent 10 minutes using it at a Best Buy and basing their comments off of that.
My take is that when I'm in tablet mode, Win 8 is a passable but clunky alternative to iOS, and when it's in desktop mode with the keyboard, it's a version of Win 7 where they hid everything just to fuck with me. Odd that the thread has turned into a lukewarm defense of Win 8 which, if not an outright terrible product, is certainly the desktop answer for the question nobody asked. Win 7, from the same division, is quite good. |
re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
Why did you post a 3 week old PS4 video in the Xbox thread? I'm confused...
|
re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
K&AJones, did you just mistakenly post in the wrong thread, or are you taking the Xbone trolling to new levels?

re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
Sorry guys...my fault on posting the PS4 trailer...I hit the wrong forum buttom.

Way back when DRM was all the fad, all the people trumpeting it's Steam-like setup pointed to it being successful even though you can't get games on discs.
Maybe I didn't read that here though. The irony of PC games is that the majority of ones on discs are from major publishers and have DRM, while the smaller indie games are often download only, but offer a DRM-free version for downloading. So the games you have to download often don't have restrictions on how many machines you install on, occasional online checks, etc, while the ones you can buy on disc are more restricted. A big thing about PC DRM is that it's entirely optional, the developer can implement it if they want, but they can also just leave it out. With the Xbone, the DRM appeared to have been mandatory for every game released on the platform. |
