I am curious as well. I switched to the titan subclass recently, and was disappointed to find I had to start all over with all my powers. It sort of sucks really. I will not know how it really compares until I spend another 4 or 5 hours with it. It seems like the basic powers you get, grenade, melee, ultimate all should at least be unlocked when you switch to the subclass.

The alternate subclasses aren't more powerful, but definitely different play styles. I can only speak for the warlock, but the default subclass is more about destruction with the nova-bomb, etc and the alternate class is more about self-preservation. One of the last things the warlock unlocks in the alt class is the ability to revive himself. I was playing multiplayer and someone actually did it. That could come in handy.

^ thanks .... I know I was playing Crucible and I was hit by a heat bomb by a Warlock and it seemed to off me faster than I ever killed anyone with my default powers ... I may have just been low on health but it seemed to have a greater impact

I really don't feel like leveling everything up again though sometimes the power upgrades are not always better than the lower level ability

I'll tell you what, random server disconnects playing Crucible are going to piss me off

I've played more than a couple dozen matches in Crucible and have not had any of your typicle lag nor any sever disconnects. Unbelievably some of the most stable multiplayer I've ever seen in a game. CoD Ghosts should be ashamed of itself.

oh I agree it was smooth as butter during the Beta but I have had a few disconnects during some intense matches that pissed me off

Having spent enough time in Destiny to get to about level 21, I feel that I can say definitively that Warframe is a better game.
  • More interesting and varied characters
  • More interesting and varied powers
  • Faster, more compelling gameplay, both shooting and movement
  • More varied game types (extermination, survival, defense, capture, rescue, interception, spy, deception, etc.)
  • Deeper, more thought provoking customization with the Mod system
  • Better character customization (colors and accessories)
  • Far better weapon variety and customization
  • Better crafting system
  • Sharper textures, reflection and lighting
  • Less time in loading screens
  • Hell, I even think the lore is more interesting
  • Didn't cost me $90
Don't get me wrong, I'm mostly enjoying my time in Destiny, and the art design is nothing short of amazing, but I really don't think it will hold my attention like Warframe has.

Yeah, I definitely agree with this. Although I think graphically Destiny is much better. This game just seems very barebones and amatuerish. I think for a "veteran" developer like Bungie it's quite lacking. I'm still having fun with it, but if they don't add/fix significant things, I won't be buying any of the expansions.

I agree with other posters about longevity. I bought the regular edition, physical copy, and I'm glad I didn't spend anymore than 60.

There was a update just awhile ago that came in close to 300mb. Didn't look it up and see what the details were.

I've been working on the sun-class of theTitan and like it so far. I tried the "Ward Dome" a few times and it works. Not really big but it did the job. been good to have it last night. Seems you rank up the sub-class faster or at least seems to be that way to me. It's a neat twist thrown in that if you have a Fireteam and everyone with a sub-class you can do so tuning the characters to specific mission.

I like that this game has a high difficulty...however, I don't like the way they handled the bosses. Rather than give the bosses good AI or clever mechanics, instead they just give them a shitload of hit points and spawn a "clown car" of never-ending enemies to zerg you. Not very fun or satisfying.

The AI is probably some of the worst I've seen in a game recently. They do lots of stupid shit, and they are really easy to bug out as well.

I agree, but I have seen the AI do some interesting stuff, like have one enemy fall on a grenade to keep his allies from getting damaged.

But yeah, coming off just having played Metro Redux, which as some really good AI for the human enemies, comparatively, the AI in Destiny is borderline retarded.

I still don't regret my Ghost Edition purchase :)

Overall, am I a little disappointed? Yeah. But with the kind of hype this game was carrying, I knew it wasn't going to be the game changer that many thought it was going to be. Most of the things people have been complaining about can be changed over time (loot drops, interaction with others, game modes, etc). The one bad thing we are pretty much stuck with is the story (or lack of). The good news is Bungie is the type of developer that is going to listen to feedback. So I expect a lot of changes over the months. And if anything, hopefully some free DLC in the future as well if the are really concerned about people jumping ship. Destiny is a 10 year plan for them, I have a feeling they sensed some of the negative feedback coming. But they couldn't release everything at once, because what are they going to offer after that?

One of the peeves I have is when you join or are joined by misc people to your team, you die, and those fucking assholes don't come around to revive. And they're standing right there, too!

I also saw that there's an expansion pack or something that's being sold for $34.99? I asked a friend and he said that the content is "coming soon," so the $34.99 price might just be a placeholder/pre-order.

I definitely don't have any regrets about getting the game - hell, the bundle/white version is awesome. I already bought a second controller and the white limited headphones. The headphones really rock and the VSS 7.1 is some of the best I've heard on a game set in quite a while. And the price is just right.

I don't know the situation but I will say sometimes it is best not to revive.
Sometimes it makes more sense to just stay out of harms way long enough for your dead teammates to respawn themselves

regarding the expansion pack, that has been known since well before launch .... many of the different editions of the game (Limited and Ghost) included those expansions in their package

Expansion packs will be $20 each, that $35 presale is for two $20 DLC's.

...or the ones who when a Public Event happens and you see a "Blue Triangle" in the distance and they don't come to help out. I had to do one alone last night and some idiot was just over the hill and didn't come to help. I got two stars but jeeze....

Sometimes like if you're well hidden and can stay there for 30 seconds yes, but when I can see where you're at or right next to me and you do nothing - that's not cool and a bit irking.

Says the game gets better basically after you beat it and get beyond level 20. Does it unlock the real game? Will we actually start caring about the story? A bunch of hyperbole.

Yeah, that makes no sense. I doubt getting to level 20 will somehow imbue the game with all the elements missing from it; character, story, quirk, etc.

I don't know, there's been plenty of times where the best part of a movie was it finally being over because the story sucked.

I've enjoyed the game from the moment I started it. I didn't play any of the beta or anything so everything is still brand new. PVP needs a lot of work but I've started having fun with that as well now that I've improved to only sucking somewhat.

Yeah, this is basically Destiny 1.0 and the games of today, especially this type of game, will go through various upgrades/expansions, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if a "Game of the Year" version pops out in 2015. This seems to be one of the first games of its kind and I expect great things in the future.

I start up the game, and then I'm on the Moon shooting things. It's fun. Not every game has to be Shadow of the Colossus.
