Bungie - Destiny

Re: Bungie - Destiny
So I used 15 of those coins and got a whole 2 engrams. 1 I couldn't use for my class and the other is the gauntlets xur is currently selling.
I then did 5 strikes continuous for the bonus and got a whopping 6 blue engrams total. Was hoping for a legendary or two. Damn you RNG.

I'm one sleepy Dagger. 5AM is just a tad to late for me to stay up playing this. Had a lot of fun though. Scott, Ice, Chase and I will be entering the Raid to check it out either this afternoon or tonight. Any other Daggers that are interested feel free to join chat when you see us on.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
I wish I could check out the raid later today, but unfortunately I'm working until tomorrow AM. If you don't complete it today and the group wants to give it another go on Sunday, I'd definitely be up for joining you.

Don't worry, we have no expectations of completing it today. We mostly want to just drop down and try and get though a few sections and figure out the mechanics of it.

Unless they fixed it already, I am going back to farming darkkis.

Yeah, it was a warlock helmet. Thinking I could use it for infusion I looked at my two existing helmets and neither had the "infusion" option. I thought (i was tired) Oh, can't infuse helmets. I then sharded the exotic.
The next morning it occurred to me that my two existing helmets are rare, not legendary. This one will go in the 'oops' category.
I am currently at 249 light and should be able to buy a 280 armor piece today after the daily PvP and daily heroic. That should bring me up a bit along with a few more strikes.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
For those people that are concerned about infusing gear and earning legendary marks to do so... don't bother with it right now. I don't know if its been mentioned on here, but there was a post on reddit with the BEST advice I've seen as far as new gear and light levels is concerned. Ill try my best to explain it...
Every time you get an engram to decode, make sure you equip any/all gear in your inventory that gives you your highest light level possible (it doesnt matter if you never use the stuff while playing, just make sure its equipped when you visit the crytptarch). The cryptarch decodes engrams into light levels that are almost always at or above the gear you currently have equipped. If you have a bunch of items to decode, do them slowly, one at a time, and check the light level on every piece after you decode it. If it turns out to be higher than what you currently have equipped, equip the new piece to raise your light level before decoding the next item. That way every single item you decode is getting the best chance possible for higher levels.
As far as infusing, unless there's a legendary item that you absolutely plan on keeping forever, scrap it. It sounds crazy, but infusing lower level legendary gear this early on is a waste. Unless its at 280 or higher, chances are it'll be obsolete very quickly. You need gear with higher light levels to infuse anything anyway, and as mentioned above the higher level stuff (even if it's only blue) is more useful when you visit the cryptarch. Not to mention a blue gun with a light level of 260 is better than a purple gun at 230 when youre just starting out. You'll earn more legendary marks than you'll know what do with just by breaking down all that average legendary gear that you get along the way. If you follow this method, you'll constantly be going higher and higher with your light as you decode items.
I only started following this advice TODAY, and went from 220 light to 270, and went from 0 legendary marks at the start of the day to 49 currently. And I didnt even have to suffer through one single crucible match. I've strictly just been working on the quests and breaking down miscellaneous legendaries that ive earned (FYI, once you get further into the story mode, there are quests that reward you with legendary marks also).

That being said, you probably don't want to use a Legendary to infuse another Legendary, since you lose marks on the infusion and on not getting the marks from breaking down that legendary.
Other tips, mainly for running multiple characters:
If you've put your focus into one character, you're in good shape. You can take high level blues from your main character and give them to your other characters. This would mainly be for weapons since other classes can't use armor, right? Wrong!
You can use armor from other classes to infuse armor. So for example, say I have a 220 Legendary armor piece for my Titan. I can take a 280 blue from my Warlock and infuse the Titan armor.
Don't delete your duplicate Exotics (from 3 of coins farming or engrams). You can use them to infuse as well.
Once you earn a Year 2 Exotic, it no longer costs Legendary Marks to pull out of the kiosk. In fact, it costs the same as pulling out a Year 1 version. However, it will be at 280 as opposed to the 290 you get from engrams or drops. Still, it's a good way to get exotics. I have a Telesto on all my characters now.

Thanks for this. Had no idea I could get 15/day from doing the daily Crucible match. I'd put Crucible on hold since I'm playing through missions. I'll fit that in now for sure.

Wow, exotics have a chance to decrypt to 310 after you hit 300 light. I should have saved my exotics for when I hit 300!
I just did the nightfall and got a crappy reward. 5 three of coins... Worth a whole 7 strange coins!

Re: Bungie - Destiny
I would say to not be afraid of infusion. You could infuse that 230 Legendary with that 260 Blue and make it 250ish. Legendaries tend to have better perks, so if you find one with good perks, bring it up with you. even if you do find better blues, you can always scrap the purple for marks down the road.
That being said, you probably don't want to use a Legendary to infuse another Legendary, since you lose marks on the infusion and on not getting the marks from breaking down that legendary.

Ya think im done messing with that 3 of coins thing
Spent 150 strange coins, gonna leave a few since it seems like they are harder to get now
Also started exploring the dreadnaught a little bit last night, pretty damn big, not sure if i'm gonna like walking that thing all the time

Man, getting the Exotic Sword takes grinding to a whole new level.
You have to farm spinmetal, but that's only part of it. Seems there's a rare drop with the spinmetal, and that's what you really need. You need 10 of these to drop. But the drop rate is like 1 in 10, if that. So I not only have to fins 100 spinmetal drops, I have to hope that 10 of them have the other drop inside.

Yeah, I keep getting decent to great everything else (weapons & armor), but my primaries are crap, and I keep getting ones I don't want, like hand cannons, which always have higher #s than the guns I want.

Just got my Titan up to 284 with the help of a 298 Mark drop. I'll probably work on the crucible kills with the sword so I can push towards the exotic sword.
Scott, make sure you ignore the chests. Apparently you can only get the rare spinmetal from spinmetal formations.
