so Cosmo makes things even more confusing
Cozmo 9h 15m ago If you haven't read the Bungie Weekly Update yet Tyson Green stopped by to give some information about how Xûr has changed his inventory for Year Two. A lot of players were asking me some questions so I wanted to clarify a few things that weren't specifically mentioned in the update. - Exotics that previously only dropped in POE can drop from Legacy Engrams - Xûr will continue to sell one piece of Exotic armor per class - None of the information I am giving is a promise about what will happen tomorrow |

Re: Bungie - Destiny
OK Folks, here's the Xur Report for September 18th, 2015, or Year 2, Week 2, or the debut of Xur 4.0.
The Xur Report is brought to you by sources. When reporting news, you should always report the source. In my case, my information here is taken from a very reliable source (me), who is gathering it directly from the most reliable source of info there is (the game). I am still waiting for Planet Destiny to put up a retraction for their incorrect reporting of there being a 2.0 version of the Apotheosis Veil helmet, but I'm sure I'll be waiting a long time. Anyhoo, here's this week's deals: http://oi62.tinypic.com/mbit0n.jpg First, I think we can now put together the info from both the weekly update and Cosmo's later tweet to get an idea of what Xur 4.0 will be. Every week, we'll still be getting the Armor for all the classes. But then we'll either get the Engram or a weapon. This week, we got the engram. Second, Xur no longer accepts Motes Of Light as currency. Everything he sells now takes Strange Coins. First up on the list there is the new Legacy Engram. This item is for those that need old Exotics to complete their collections. This engram will only give you a Year 1 Exotic. Legacy Weapon Engrams will cost 31 Strange Coins. This week, the Legacy Engram is for Heavy Weapons. So your options would be: Truth, Gjallarhorn, Dragon's Breath, Thunderlord or Super Good Advice. Onto the Armor: For the Titan, it's the Year 2 version of An Insurmountable Skullfort. This version adds a second melee charge in addition to it's old perk of Storm Fist kills trigger health regeneration. The other perks, including the stat rolls, can now be random (more on this later). For the Hunter, it's the Year 2 Version of Young Ahamkara's Spine. This version adds a second Tripmine to the original perk of tripmines that last longer. For the Warlock, it's the first Taken King Exotic offered: The Impossible Machines Gauntlets. They look like the Stormcaller version of Sunbreakers and Nothing Manacles, but in reality the perk only gives you something from your skill tree. You get Landfall, which shoots lightning down near you when you trigger your super, giving you a mini titan smash of sorts. Look cool, meh perk. The Year 2 Engram this week is for Helmets. 19 Strange Coins. I bought a bunch! So as I mentioned above, exotics are a lot more fluid in year 2. For armor, that means only the initial main perk will stay the same, but the rest can change. So sorting out exotics is a bit more complicated. Also, the items Xur is selling are at 280 Defense, while the Engram will give you items at 290. Exotics can be infused, so You can buy that Skullfort and infuse it with an engram of a helmet you don't want. One more cool thing. Once you Obtain a Year 2 Exotic, you get the blueprint in your collection, and pulling another one out no longer costs Legendary Marks. The rolls can be different between what you get and what's in the collection. So from my Engrams, here's what I got: Spoiler:
So one more thing. That new item in the Curios section is the Three Of Coins, which gives you a chance at Exotic drops from Ultra enemies. Basically, you buy 5 of these for 7 coins, then you use it, and the next Ultra you kill gives you a shot at an exotic engram drop. If you don't get it then, the next time you have an even better shot. The rate seems to be pretty good from what I'm hearing from friends who are running strikes over and over right now. So that will do it. What could have been a short report turned out to be a long ass one. See ya next week. And here's the video report: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/SvnTeILr1A8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Bought four helmet engrams. I received 2 OM, one insurmountable skullfort, and.....The Stag!

Re: Bungie - Destiny
So if the Xur exotics are only 280 defense, are the blue prints going to be 280 or 290? I was thinking of buying an exotic, sharding it and buying the blueprint in hopes it has 290 defense.
I have to decide if I have enough coins to waste 31 trying to get the truth. Still missing the ice breaker as well so hopefully next week is secondary. Does anyone know of any Taken King quests that require dismantling items? I am planning on clearing out my vault when I get home tonight. I know there was a gunsmith quest that required dismantling rare/legendary fusion rifles which I have already completed. |

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Took a chance on the Xur helmet engram and got the new Celestial Nighthawk for my hunter. Now I am 2 coins short of getting the "three of coins" pack.
The defense on the Celestial Nighthawk is 290 and is by far my best gear so far. Got my light up to 220. No raid for me this weekend, haha. How are you guys getting your light so high, so quick? Lots of strike runs looking for legendary gear drops? |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Here's a pretty extensive article on tips for TTK. Starts off with some newbie tips but does eventually get into the nuances of the new systems of the expansion as well as tips on how to handle and juggle new loot, best ways to get legendary marks etc....

If you read through this thread, you'll realize we all like to have fun and bust balls. You may not want to take things so seriously. As for the fanboy comments, Scott stated that the actual game confirmed that as of now there was no year two AV. If you go through this thread you'll notice that pretty much anything we post regarding news, content, etc. is directly from Bungie or from data within the game itself. This game can be confusing for many first starting out, and some of us try and help answer questions whenever we can help. Many seem to appreciate it, but you seem kind of annoyed by it. Also, please let me know how much Planet Destiny is paying you to shill for their site. I'm always looking for a way to earn some extra income. :p |

Bungie screwed up their weekly update. It has nothing to do with anyone's reading comprehension.

No big deal, but again got jumped on for it. And then last night I simply made a comment that I interpreted the quote differently and for no reason received a condescending retort for it, even though find out today that I was absolutely correct. So you can tell me you guys just "bust balls" around here but my view point isn't quite the same. Even though I know it's a hack joke, no I don't get paid to be PD's shill. It's simply one of a few blog's I follow and usually they have info out first that I source. Better than other cringe inducing videos that get made around here though. |

So I only have the Gjallarhorn and Thunderlord. I think Truth is the only other one from that list that can be upgraded for year two. Is it worth it to roll the dice? Or should I just hang on to my 31 strange coins? I guess if I would end up with Dragon's Breath or Super Good Advice it wouldn't be a complete waste since I don't have them either, even though they are being left behind.
Also, thoughts on the The Impossible Machines Gauntlets? Hold off and wait for something better? |

Do level 36 strike playlist until 260 light then do the heroic strike playlist. Equip all the weapons / armor that have higher numbers and your light will go up. I have been using a crappy hand cannon as it has ~258 damage and I have yet to find anything better. I am currently at 259 light so I will probably start doing heroic strikes tonight.

Thanks, looks like the strikes are the way to go. I have been running with 200 weapons as I haven't gotten anything better. Wish the weaponsmith would bring me my 280 Suros before next wednesday!
Also, this go around you can get blue engrams that have a much higher level than the legendary gear you have. So wither equip those or infuse them into your legendary gear to get that light level up. Anyone can enter the Raid so you should be fine at 220 since you usually make us do all the work while you are away anyway. ;) That way you can get the year 2 Hawkmoon that Chase so desperately wants. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
I splurged on the helmet engrams and got pretty lucky as far as the new exotics go:
The Stag (x2) Graviton Forfeit The Taikonaut (x2) Empyrean Bellicose Obsidian Mind The Taikonaut has an awesome perk where all rocket launchers track, plus it drops more heavy ammo while using it. The Titans will definitely be blowing shit up with that bad boy equipped. PLUS, you get bonus Super Energy from heavy weapon kills. |
