After farming for materials while patrolling the Dreadnaught last night (took about 45 minutes) I was able to get this bad boy:

The damage output isn't that high, but it sure is a lot of fun to use.

The gear you can equip is dependent on your character level. You want to get to level 40 to equip the best gear. Once you hit 40 the goal is to get your light level as high as possible so you can run Daily Heroic missions, Nightfalls, Raids, etc.

All gear contributes to your light level now, as opposed to just armor. For example, if all of the items you had equipped were 260 (Armor/Weapons/Ghost/Class item) you'd be 260 light level.

Thanks. Really appreciate it.

Glad I could help. I have about 800 hours in the game and even I'm confused by some of these changes.

Armsday orders are available today from the Gunsmith as long as you are Gunsmith rank 1 or higher. The price is 2,500 glimmer each:

Suros DIS Scout
Hakke Herja-D Pulse
Hakke Lyudmila-D Pulse
Omolon FR4 Fusion
Hakke Jinukogo-D Shotgun

I'll probably go with the Scout rifle and one of the Pulse rifles.

That is a Petra Quest. You have to get a number of two different ethers to dropped and kill Taken Lieutenants to summon the Champions you have to killed them two times and also picked up a Curious Object which I don't what it is. Killing the Champion is tough cause I can't find enough people playing now and you have to do it quick or they be gone.

cryptarc is still an @hole .... it turned into my 3rd Hard Light in the last week (other 2 were from CE and VoG)

I think the game is trying to make me use my Hard Light

That sucks. Count me as one of the many who hit level 20 when the game first came out and then put it down until about a month or so ago. So I really didn't have too much as far as exotics so it's all pretty new to me. Obviously the Monte Carlo I received was very new to me and other XBO users but still it's my first primary exotic and much needed.

it's all good .... I had all the Y1 exotics so there was nothing he was going to give me that was going to be new anyway

congrats on the Monte Carlo

I feel like this whole expansion's theme is going to be how divisive it is between hardcore players and those who quit it shortly after hitting vanilla's level cap.

Bungie has stated many times that one of their priorities for TTK was to change the sharp drop off of people quitting after hitting level 20 and with that I think a lot of those changes make hardcore players feel alienated in a lot of ways.

The game does a really poor job of laying out things like how to follow the main story line separate from any side quests, etc or explaining stuff like you mention (infusing ....)

that said, I think the most important thing is not to worry about blowing through all the content in a couple of days

I'm a Day 1 player as well (or technically a Day 2 player since I didn't exactly buy it on launch day), but yeah, before HoW came out the only person here that I can legitimately argue put more hours than I did was probably Scott. A break did me good because I was honestly starting to get burnt out on this game.

And I agree 100% about not blowing through the content in a couple days. Been there, done that. I think on this second go-round, I'll just focus on actually enjoying the content rather than worrying about Finishing every weekly/nightfall/bounty/quest etc for all 3 characters every damn day. For awhile this game honestly started to feel like work.

Indeed. I think the greatest thing about all this new content is the fact you can just play it and discover new things. No need to follow a certain order to complete it all.

Scott, Gaul and I spent a few hours last night just patrolling the Dreadnaught, and finding all sorts of cool things to do.

Got this last night (earlier this morning?) as well. Have you had a chance to try it out in the Crucible?

Do I understand right that if I am rank 1, I can choose one weapon and basically a placeholder goes into my weapons inventory and I don't actually receive the weapon until next wednesday?

yep, place order this week and Gunsmith delivers in under 30 minutes ..... I mean next week (Wed) ... and yes it takes up the spot in your inventory as a placeholder

Uh, so if I dismantled a gunsmith gun that I completed field testing, I won't get the actual weapon version? What's the protocol on that?

Have they added spaceship combat yet?

you can keep it if you want but they are pretty worthless
they also cannot be vaulted

purpose is to test them to rank up your gunsmith
once you have completed the bounty on the weapon to 100% (10 kills) you can just dismantle it as the rep to the gunsmith has already been applied

ranking up the gunsmith allows you to put in orders for better weapons that will be delivered the following week

It was fun, and we did several of those Court Of Oryx events.

But there are good reasons to finish the story before playing around, the main one being that many more quests unlock once you do.

Also, the main story isn't the end of the new content or even the full story of the DLC. I think what they said was that story mode is only halfway through the the plotline of the DLC, and the rest is played out in the other quests and of course the Raid.

The picture of the engram before I turned it in was green but not sure that had anything to do with it.

I got a Thorn out of that green engram. I was surprised as well.

Oh nice, from what I've been hearing the Y1 way of getting that was a pain in the ass.

It was a pain if you didn't have a primary void weapon or if you got the quest on a character other than a warlock.

I got red death from the deceptive engram. I was hoping for a PS4 exclusive weapon. Hopefully Xur has some decent crap tomorrow and doesn't require legendary marks.

I don't like how the taken king killed all my alts. I used to do everything on all 3 characters. Now I pretty much have to pick one until he is maxed out as I can't do the dailies on all 3 characters. It sucks.
