Uh, just got a release date of December 30th for NBA 2K14.

That certainly doesn't work for me.

Clearly, the PS4 has some sort of shame-related install filter.

So Rayman Legends is set for the PS4 (and xbox one) in Feb 2014.

I wonder if they can take advantage of an optional second screen option like on the Wii U version (imo the worst version of the game because of the second screen functions, but some people seem to dig it).

Dude, Rayman is meant to be played on the WiiU. Why would you intentionally buy a gimped game? I mean we've been talking shit about 1080p vs 720p so why accept an inferior version of Rayman?

Did you play Rayman on the WiiU, Rich, or just a demo?

Yeah, my son just beat Rayman Legends on the WiiU and had a blast with it. The second screen makes that game.

I wound up playing the full game and just didn't care for the second screen controls. I'm curious if the remote play on the Vita can be used in a similar manner though. One of those "to each their own" kind of things.

Edit: Oh yeah, the Vita does have Gyro controls.

I think you guys just sold me on Killzone.
I have never had any interest in this series before so this would be my first KZ game. How important is the storyline of the previous entries in relation to this one? Or does it even matter?

I just had Amazon switch out NBA 2K14 for Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag - I'm not waiting a month or more for the NBA game.

Doesn't matter. I can't even tell you what happened in any of the previous games and I beat them all.

It's pretty much a reboot as far as I can tell. Not only is it separate from the old story, but they didn't even bother to finish the old story. It's set 30 years after.

I never played the old ones either, other than the demos. They were graphically impressive but seemed like fairly generic poop-brown shooters. This one looks stunning, and seems to have a story that I could get behind.

The color schemes varied up a bit as the game progressed, but the gameplay (Kill a bunch of guys and move forward) was kind of stale.

I'm buying it mostly for the multiplayer. Am I doing it wrong?

The multiplayer in this one looks vastly improved over prior iterations.

A friend of mine brought over Killzone 2 with his PS3 back in the day. Being 360 guys he grabbed and brought over a third party controller with the analog swapped. We played until we got to a door that required you to turn the controller to open the door. 3rd party controller didn't have the sixaxis functions. Game over.

I asked the same thing over on GAF. Someone linked me to a big thread with an OP with a long detailed writeup on the history of the series, the story, the backstory...

I couldn't even make it through reading it at all so I will assume it doesn't matter much. I just want to shoot a bunch of stuff, have it so it plays great, and have it look pretty while I do it. I'm usually in for more than that, but I'm making an exception here at launch, heh.

I actually think the "cold war" setting looks really interesting. It's probably asking a bit much, but I think I even detect some potential social commentary.

The SP was bullshit in the past games and the MP was definitely serviceable, so I'd say you are doing it just right, lol.

I'm yet another person who has played and beaten at least 2 of them, perhaps all of them, and I don't remember a thing about the story, nor do I think at the time I knew what the hell was going on. They were still pretty decent games.

I asked the Killzone question way back around when both consoles were first shown and I was sold on the PS4. I've been playing Halo & GOW for as long as I can remember so it was time to move on. I never knew of anything on Killzone series let alone played it. As some have mentioned it doesn't matter since the "storyline" is set 30yrs later and essentially a "almost new setting". From what we've seen I think it'll be something new, a little old and a more in depth game...not to mention one heck of a visual experience.

I just hope it's better, I didn't like the gameplay in the original Killzones. The potential was there, but the world was uninteresting and the gameplay repetitive. It's actually an easy fix, so I hope they did so this time around.

But we won't know for a few days.

That said, I have to be really critical of the lack of single console or online co-op on this iteration. That to me is borderline unacceptable in a shooter these days. But I'll still be playing the hell out of this.
