My position has consistently been that Microsoft should do well enough to keep Sony honest but also poorly enough that they learn a lesson about their current strategy. [edit: maybe poorly enough that they offer a Kinect-free version?]

If anything the dogpiles on chess or anyone who stuck out their chest to brag about anything pro-Sony were a bigger turnoff . There's a small group of active PS3ers who have been sitting on the sidelines watching but haven't really chimed in much mainly because it isn't a secret that the forum has leaned pro Xbox 360 for years. We just lived with it and organized our own shenanigans.

Personally, I'd like MS/Sony to play out the reverse of current gen, with Sony 'trouncing' them out of the gate, but MS narrowing the gap over the life of the consoles to where they end up pretty evenly. To me, Sony's really made huge strides over the past 6 years and I'd like to see them rewarded for it, and I'd like MS to get enough of a sting that they pay closer attention to what gamers want in the future. Not to mention, playing underdog for a year or two would likely be good for the Xbone in the long haul.

I'd also like to see Nintendo capture 20% or so to keep them healthily in the business, but am guessing that might be impossible at this point.

Besides we have been too busy playing some recent releases to bother crying into our pillows at night.

The funny thing is i'm fairly certain the people who supposedly dogpile on chess and were called "fanboys" also own PS3's, and a few have stated the intent to purchase PS4's. It's not just about pro-Sony or pro-Microsoft.

Nintendo needs to get the message that a weaker console is fine, because they can still make amazing Nintendo games for it, but a gimmicky console is a non-starter.

If they released a $199 WiiU with only a pro-controller, I'd probably buy one this year. And no, I have no idea how practical that would really be with their existing software library.

I'm actually partly serious. I will own a WiiU, but it will be a while, and it's based on principle as much as it is price.

Edit: I also actively dislike the tablet controller, at least based on what I've played on displays.

According to the post, the hard drive is housed underneath the glossy exterior panel on top of the device and can be removed via torx screwdriver.

This reminded me of when both systems were announced and one of the biggest issues at the time was the XO didn't have a removable HD while you could with the PS4. Of course the side issue is "how often or what chance is there you'll have to change the HD out anyways".

I know I've been in a constant emotional pull on getting or not getting with friends who are getting the XO, the PS4, both or neither at this moment. To help with the choice I had to ask myself..."would I buy a PC or Laptop that you couldn't remove the HD?". To add to that we just saw the size of Killzone...almost 40gb!

Looks pretty simple.

Will be interesting to see if external hard drives will be supported (and supported well enough) as they would definitely be needed for heavy gamers.

I think I'm misunderstanding the deal. I would think that if you traded in $30 worth of stuff, you'd get $30 off of anything.

But I do have a bunch of PS2/Gamecube games...thanks for the heads up.
