I have no idea, I didn't read anything, just watched the video and backed it.

The stretch goals are blurred but you can read them somewhat and 3.5 million is "single player challenge mode". If the goals stay at those amounts and aren't just a placeholder, I'm not sure I see it hitting that much to get single player.

If it's not going to get to the single player stretch goal by the time the campaign is ending, I'll cancel my pledge.

Missed the $25 early bird, but am going in with a friend on the 2-game tier to get that price back. Am willing to share a larger 4-game tier if anyone wants to join.

Two Guys SpaceVenture - by the creators of Space Quest, has hit some production delays. As a result they're releasing a mini-game they created as a standalone release to help tide people over. Backers will get it as a free download, and as a Steam code if they can get it Greenlit:

Looks like a Five Nights at Freddy's clone. Not really my kinda game, but if it's really humorous it might be worth playing.
In their previous update, they mentioned they're planning to release SpaceVenture on November 30, 2016.

Since this thing hasn't even hit $500,000 yet, there is no way it's going to hit their stretch goal for the single player campaign. Which actually sucks, because that's what I was most interested in. Without that, this game doesn't have legs for more than the first few months it's out.

I think this is a really bad trend : The game Dragon Fin Soup was a Kickstarter game project launched in March 2014 with an April 2015 expected date. Well, unsurprisingly the game got delayed and the codes just came out for backers today.
What the issue is, however is that the game will be a Playstation Plus freebie starting Tuesday 11/3/15, so those folks who spent $15 some 18 months ago ended up with a four day period of exclusivity and everyone else gets it for free.
Here's the problem when folks contribute to an indie Kickstarter game campaign : The project can be fully funded by the Kickstarters, eliminating all financial risk involved in making the game. At that point, the company might stand to make more money selling it to Sony as a PS Plus freebie than they would have if they sold it in the PSN Store. They can just take their check from Sony and walk away. That might make more financial sense to the company but it's a really shitty thing to do to those who back your game and show their faith in you with a monetary commitment.

I guess it's a bummer for those that explicitly chose one of the PS platforms as a reward and are also PS+ members. But even the basic backing tier got some exlusive bonuses, like Dragon Fin Soup OST, HD Wallpaper Pack, PDF Game Manual & Forum Access.
Also, it looks like they didn't ask what platform you wanted the game on until after the PS+ announcement, so PS+ backers could at least ask for a PC key instead. Or, if the PS copy is distributed as a key, give the key to a friend that doesn't have PS+.

Dragon Fin Soup is self-funded with the help of our amazing friends and family. The base funding goal and the stretch goals will give us additional development time to add additional features, polish and porting to make Dragon Fin Soup a fantastic game experience!
The lower base goal of 24k is additional funding that will buy us more development time, but the actual development cost already [spent] on this game is much higher than that! We have already been working for one year on Dragon Fin Soup. We had decided on a lower base goal because frankly we did not know what to expect, this is our first Kickstarter and all
But as we already explained, every penny will go into development! We are not recouping with the money raised and we will work hard to make this game as great as we can and you can expect that we will deliver quality!

I think this might be the first time this happened exactly this way, but Massive Chalice and Sprotsfriends were both made freebies after a very short period of time
Fair enough, I suppose. I still feel bad for people who felt that yes, while they were helping get a game made, also thought they were pre-purchasing a game at a good, discounted price, only to find out they could have gotten the same game at the same time for free.
I'm sure there are some folks who would be devastated if one of these games didn't get made (kind of like how I felt about the Addams Family Pinball table Kickstarter, I suppose). Most of the time though, when I'm backing a game Kickstarter it's to get a game I'm moderately interested in at a discount. If nobody ends up making a Friday the 13th asynchronous Multiplayer game, I would probably get over my disappointment pretty quickly

It can be, but that's not what happened here:
This game already had sunk costs, and the Kickstarter was only to cover cost of completion + stretch goals. What's more, a lot of times the Kickstarter funds don't end up covering all subsequent costs, and developers either sink more of their own funds, or utilize publishing deals to gain additional funds without going back to Kickstarter. It's possible the upfront PS+ money was what was needed to finish the game and get it released finally.

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

I don't donate much on Kickstarter anymore, not because of this but because of the overall lack of great experiences I've had with it (the best ones being Veronica Mars and Pono, and then lots of stuff that's either endlessly delayed or far from what was originally promised, or both!), but when I do I usually go for whatever the lowest tier is that still allows me to get the basic item. Most of these crowdfunding bonuses are not worth the additional price, and by the time you do get to something worth having, they're asking for hundreds more than the base price. Those exclusive bonuses you listed are a perfect example of the kind of trite extra crap thrown at backers.

So maybe if someone had both PC and XB1, and only wanted the game on one platform (which one didn't matter), and they got the XB1 free because they have XBL Gold, then having pre-paid for the PC version could've been considered a rip-off. But then, they could sell/give away the PC key.
Sportsfriends was released on PS3/PS4 in May 2014, then was a PS+ giveaway in Sept 2014. In some ways this may have been worse, since those that backed the game may have picked the PS3/4 version as a reward instead of the PC version, not knowing it would be a PS+ freebie a few months later. If they had known upfront, they could've picked the PC version, or given away the PS3/4 key

I don't see anywhere on the Kickstarter page where the creators stated that the reward was a discounted price.

To be fair, those were the bonuses included with the lowest reward tier that included the game ($15), basically the tier you would've pledged at anyway. The higher reward tiers include other bonuses for the additional pledge amount.

The mini game Yegger in Escape From The Planet of The Poultroid has been released on Steam and DRM-free on itch.io for $2.99:

Again, it's a Five Nights at Freddy's clone/spoof, from the Two Guys From Andromeda for their SpaceVenture game.

Looks cool but I have no clue how they can sell this legally? It looks from the video you can download licensed games from their own servers. It's not even obscure games either. They showed Simpsons Arcade and Crash Bandicoot in the video.

Dream Arcades only includes properly licensed games. Add-on games are available from stores, such as Steam & GOG, or free from online public libraries, such as the Internet Archive.

I think some of their case designs could run into some trademark issues though.

and I don't game on my PC) I played a TON of System Shock when I was a teenager and would love to have a keepsake. I dunno, maybe you can combine tiers and get a physical on PC & digital copy on XB1.

Microsoft is really fussy about minimum runs for XB1 discs for whatever reason. It's why Shovel Knight's physical release was canceled for the XB1, and that's why Limited Run Games has shied away from 'em.
The smallest order Microsoft allows is 50,000 (!).

Edit: I didn't read the KickStarter well enough though....with $75, I will get a physical copy of the PC version (with Steelbook case) and a digital of XB1 if I so desire. I'll have to think about it though I guess. We'll see how far it goes, Stretch Goal wise.
