Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

To celebrate the launch of the classic game Carmageddon on Android, and as a thank you for their successful Kickstarter of Carmageddon: Reincarnation, they're giving away the game for free for one day only on Google Play.

Download the game labeled Carmageddon Promo to get the full game free:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...rmageddonpromo

110MB download, so you'll likely want to be on wifi when downloading the game.

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the new Penny Arcade kickstarter for the return of their podcast.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...ret?ref=search

Rumor is going around that they set it up because they were losing more revenue than expected because of their last kickstarter to remove the ads. A $10 project goal? Really?? And so far, $61k donated. Crazy.

Hrmmm, that's unfortunate....I didn't even know about it to be honest. But I would really want a 360 version and I don't see how they would even come close to the stretch goal at this point. I'll leave it on my reminder in case it does get close though.

Just thought I would promote one of my college best friends' project. He is one of the coders on Tug which has a Kickstarter and its doing pretty decently. I will certainly give but I have not decided which tier I want to be on.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nerdkingdom/tug-1

It seems like a pretty neat idea, and hopefully some who read this give just a little.

Welp, Road Redemption got a GIANT surge and has reached it's goal. Also the stretch goal for the Xbox 360 version is firmly in site. Just goes to show you how a little press does a world of good. I'll give my $20 when I get home this evening. Very nice, very nice indeed. Road Rash is back bitches.

I gave to Tug, because it sounds cool, but tell your buddy that it's an AWFUL name.

Haha, I will do so . I agree with you, it is an off putting name, you would think it has something to do with a tugboat, a ship or water. But unfortunately its none of that. I am interested to see where it goes, it has a lot of potential. We shall see.

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

Saw this Kickstarter today for a game called Quintet, a cooperative party game where players control the same ship through 5 roles - Captain, Helm, Tactical, Engineering & Science.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...t-for-android/

The game's already on Windows, Mac, and iOS, and is apparently free:
http://quintet.us/

It reminds me a lot of another game I've read about, Atermis:
http://www.artemis.eochu.com/

Not a lot to be found online about Quintet, but there's a lot of articles about Artemis:

I was thinking of a more crude interpretation of "tug".

So, it's "Mission: Space: The Video Game"?

They made their goal today, but are still about $10K from the XBLA goal. Don't think that's possible with only 2 days left, unfortunately.

Yeah, I threw in my $20.00 for Road Redemption. They are about ~4,000 short of the Xbox stretch goal. But only seven hours left, they do mention that the amount through paypal will count as well. I think when its all said and done, it will make it to the Xbox. Or else, I guess I will be on PC with a 360 controller plugged in. Heh.

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

Road Redemption ended with $182,000 combined Kickstarter and Paypal funds. So an Xbox 360 versions seems on the table.

amie Fristrom, creator of the Spider-Man 2 game, is taking the swinging mechanic from that game and adding things like jetpacks for his new game Energy Hook:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/.../energy-hook-0

The goal was a measly $1, which it blew past and is close to its second stretch goal of $20,000.

The game is heavily based on atmosphere and exploration, and using the two year old child’s perspective. For example you’ll be able to see your own body at all times, and you will have to interact with the environment to find places to hide from dangers.

Annoying commentary aside this has potential to be really scary.
Successfully funded with two days to go. I put In $20.

Double Fine have created a campaign for their next game, Massive Chalice. It appears to be a turn-based tactical strategy game.

I don't think it's going to reach it's goal. $114k out of the $1.35 million they are asking for with 19 days left.

Yeah, they're really struggling. If you go to the dedicated thread for it, there's been a bit of controversy regarding the project.

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

No really big-name projects recently, maybe most are laying low until after E3.

Anyway, saw this which sounds interesting:

Armikrog (ends 6/27/13)
a new Adventure Game made of Clay, from Doug TenNapel and the creators of The Neverhood.

Armikrog now has less than 24 hours, and is really close to reaching its goal.

Crap, I knew that trying to keep up with two forums was going to cost me. Guess I just missed this one, would have loved to be in on some of those bonuses, loved The Neverhood.

The designer of Syndicate Wars just put up a campaign for Satellite Reign, a spiritual successor. I much preferred the original Syndicate over Syndicate Wars, but some of the in-game footage has persuaded (heh heh) me to pledge.

Privateer Press recently launched a Kickstarter for WARMACHINE: Tactics, a turn-based tactical combat for PC and Mac, set in the steam-powered world of the award-winning WARMACHINE tabletop game. They've already reached their goal:

On the indie front, the developers of Lioness, an experimental adventure game, have stated that they're not adding stretch goals to their funding project, instead focusing on just making their proposed game better. On top of the adventure game, they're also offering 7 other exclusive mini games, all for $7.

Webcomic Megatokyo has a Kickstarter for a "visual novel game" that has already earned 10x its goal:

Meanwhile, webcomic Looking for Group has a Kickstarter for an ambitious RPG, but is short of goal with only 3 days left:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...-fork-of-truth

Finally, Pong creator Al Alcorn has created a Kickstarter for a trivia card game called Seriously?! that is played by scanning the cards with a smartphone. In addition to pledging, people can submit their own trivia questions which, if accepted, will be included in the game.

Demo for SpaceVenture came out last night for backers. I'm not sure whether I want to see it until it's finished as they say a lot of stuff is still rough or not yet implemented.
