Re: Halo 4

Started played in Heroic, I played like 30 minutes and really liked it. Heck, after the first two minutes, including introduction, it was already a solid candidate for GOTY to me.

Re: Halo 4

After playing so much Borderlands (and heck, every other shooter) where I'm so used to pressing the left trigger to look down the sight of my gun, I kept doing that and mistakenly lobbing grenades in Halo4.

Switch to the "fishstick" button layout. It's the same as call of duty.

Re: Halo 4

Really surprised at how good it is. It's probably my favorite since the original.

My favorite moment:

Spoiler:
Finally getting to fly the Pelican. I've wanted to fly one ever since the 1st one. The end was also pretty crazy too.

Re: Halo 4

Finished up the Spartan Ops Episode on Legendary, thank goodness nothing respawns which makes it easy if not long. Those damn Knights are a bitch going against them solo, the campaign is not going to be fun against them on Legendary. They make Elites with energy swords seem like child's play when I look back at the past Halo's.

Re: Halo 4

Just started today. Am I correct in the fact I should play through the campaign before starting the Spartan Ops episodes? I thought I read somewhere the episodes take place after the campaign storywise.

I made the mistake of starting one level of Spartan Ops...you can play it when you want, but I guess it takes place after Halo 4, so there seems to be spoilers...

Done with mission 5...that last part was a bitch..

Re: Halo 4

Played about 4hrs of multiplayer with a friend tonight. LOVED IT. Can't believe how smooth and polished this game is. Finally time to start the campaign now.

Re: Halo 4

Finally ran some MP as well. With it being so much more like CoD I expected to hate it, but I had a blast. Of course we were winning, so that helps with the perspective some. I love starting with the DMR.

I played for about 90 minutes and maybe my memory is hazy but I swear I only played on 3-4 maps. None of which impressed me all that much.

Also, since I mentioned my LE map pass code not showing as redeemed(and others having the same concerns), I got to researching. The running theory (and likely true) is it's not showing as redeemed on the marketplace because the Map Pass (2000pts) and the code in the LE are different. Since the LE code comes with some armor, emblems and the map pass it is different than the stand alone map pass on the marketplace.

Now on to the [possibly] big fuck you to fans... after installing the MP disc I checked out the storage on the hard drive. In addition to installing the MP portion of the game, it appears it installed a 2GB War Games Map Pack to the hard drive. So if that's correct then all 3 map packs are already on disc, just locked away from the user.

Can anyone who hasn't redeemed the War Games code or bought the pass yet see if you have that same 2GB file?

Pretty shitty if that's the case.

Can you turn off the helmet obstructing the bottom of the screen in the campaign? It's not there in MP.

I was going to ask you if you figured out what happened with the codes. I still haven't redeemed mine yet in fear of something fucking up as well. So I'm guessing it's safe to do so now?

And yes, the maps are already on there. When I go to the DLC to purchase the map pack for 2000pts, it's a very small file (in the KB, not MB or GB)

Re: Halo 4

I'm an idiot. The MP is called War Game which is 2gb. Then there is Spartan Ops which is 1.5gb.

That's what I get for staying up til 2.

Re: Halo 4

I'm loading up the game right now. So...one needs to do the campaign solo and then Spartan Ops? a friend got his copy the other day and has been waiting to get mine and we were hooking up tonight for Spartan Ops.

Re: Halo 4

The multiplayer on this game is fucking aggravating. Not because of the players, but because Microsoft hasn't done a goddamn thing since launch to fix all of the inane server issues.

Despite having a minimum 25mbps down internet connection and no issues sprouting from my router, I suffer from insane amounts of lag most of the times I'm playing online. It makes the multiplayer aspect of the game completely unplayable. I'm also not the only one to complain about this issue as there's threads galore about it on not only the Halo Waypoint, but on other gaming forums as well. Microsoft has kept quiet on all issues with the exception of the issue on Tuesday where nobody could even connect to the servers.

At least Infinity Ward and Treyarch are open with its community when they fuck up. It's sad that Microsoft, that wrote a blank check to make this game, can't admit to their own problems and faults.

Hey, since their multiplayer servers suck, at least I already beat the campaign!

Re: Halo 4

I've played probably 15 games and only noticed lag once, and even then it was just a single 5 second incident.

Although I'm playing with 3 friends all within a few miles of each other. Not sure of that matters though.

Re: Halo 4

I have to say that the only bad thing about this game so far is how insanely long it takes to resume the campaign. I'm not super impatient but out of all the games I've ever played on the 360, about 492 according to Raptr, I've only ever bitched about loading times on one other game before this. I'm currently installing the game to my HDD so I hope to god this speeds the process up a bit.

Ok if installing the game to the HDD makes as big of a difference as it just did then they really needed to have something pop-up on screen and make mention of that as soon as you start the game. I can't believe up till tonight I waited as long as I did for things to load.

Re: Halo 4

Yeah, I guess you need to follow them more closely to know about this. But must fans know about this.

I play on 2 Xboxes, the main one, I installed the game the first day. The second one, I started playing from disc and noted the difference, but I was just going to play for an hour or so, and didn't want to waste 15 minutes installing the game to hard drive. I installed it the next day though.

Re: Halo 4

Wasn't it ODST that suggested you install it? Or was it Reach? I realize it was still Bungie back then but it is still the same engine.

Re: Halo 4

finished it on legendary..

Wow. I am not sure how I rank this, other than it was better than Reach and ODST (note...I loved all the Halo games)...

There was no single moment that stood out like the fight with two Scarab tanks in the third game, or the race at the end of the first or third game...but overall, especially the later chapters, the game just flowed so well.

The story was well done, the music fantastic (though not as good as 3)..and the graphics are just amazing coming out of a system with only 512mb of ram...

I planed on only playing one chapter tonight, but ended up playing the final 3 because they were so good.

Before this game I think I ranked the Halo games as

Halo 3
Halo CE
Halo Reach
Halo 2
Halo ODST..

at the very least I am going to put this in the top 3. I still have the Spartan Ops to play, and that might very well put this at number 1.
