Trying to sync my Amex card but getting an error message. I guess my Costco Amex counts as a "corporate" card and doesn't qualify?

Never played part 3, and played Reach because I got it free

3 was good but nowhere near as great as 2. Reach was a step in the right direction. I will agree with you on lack of enthusiasm for this game. I've always bought the numbered halos day one ever since Halo 2. I just can't get excited since Bungie left. I'll pick this up when it hits $20 though.

Best Buy's extended price-matching/return window is in effect now (have until 1/24/13), for those still debating where to pick it up.

I'm seriously considering it. Wish my local Best Buy would answer the phone to confirm the overall hours tonight though, as I can't get there until 0100 perhaps.

I ended up going even though I really didn't know why, as I barely game on consoles the last few years. I think I just wanted to see what one of the midnight events was like. Also, between the Best Buy $20 preorder bonus and the Amex credits if I finish it, the game is pretty much free.

The experience went surprisingly well. I was able to get there by 0030, so was the last arrival, with about 100 younger people in front of me waiting for the two customer service registers to ring up their pre-orders. I thought a boring hour was in front of me until a manager pulled me aside and said that he'd take the back of the line one by one to another register to complete my purchase. Somehow I had the one receipt I needed in my wallet, even though I usually never keep them in there.

They had a couple good deals going. Half price on the Halo 4 strategy guide, and $40 for a 13 month Live card.

Been up since 0430, or I'd be playing it now. Hope I can sleep.

Picked up my Halo 4 console tonight at GameStop. Waited until 12:30 before I got in line. In was much shorter by then and I didn't have to wait much. They ran out of the pre-order codes but they took my name and said more would be available tomorrow. I'll pick up my second copy of the game at BB tomorrow.

As much as I want to play all night I have to show a bit of willpower and stop for the night.

While I'm not sure about things like the HUD and the way Master Chief moves there is no question the graphics are top notch. I also forgot how much I enjoyed the banter between MC and Cortana.

As for the midnight launch it was fucking miserable. The crowd was nothing bunch kids who were mostly all under 18 and pretty much all of them thought they were hot shit. Unlike the last midnight release I attended, for The Avengers blu-ray, I pretty much didn't talk to anyone. As a 34 year old I sure with the exception of Halo we had NOTHING to chat about.

Lastly I wish they would improve upon the code system for downloads. My receipt was about 1 1/2 feet long with about 6 or so codes for various free shit. I asked the guy if there were still freebies included inside the LE and he said no. Well...he was wrong and there were 4 more codes to redeem inside. I wish they could just do QR codes for that shit and save me some time.

Yeah the game is gorgeous as hell. Probably the first time Halo graphics have "wowed" since the first game. After 5 outings on Legendary I figured I'll lay back and rock this one on Normal. It feels closer to Heroic to me. I've died a few times already.

I watched the gamespot video review yesterday and I was pretty wowed by the graphics. I am not a big halo fan(i skipped ODST and Reach) so that is the first footage I had seen of part 4. I am definitely putting it on my xmas list.

Who's up for some coop on Heroic? If you are in it for the cheevos, then it makes more sense to play coop on Heroic as you have to solo Legendary for a separate cheevo anyway.

Looks like the clerk at Best Buy screwed up last night. I got charged full price for the 13 month Live card ($60) instead of the discounted $40 it was supposed to be, but I got the game for free.

Looks like a big boon for me initially, but then I lose out on the $20 RZ cert and the inevitable price drop/match in the next 60 days. So pretty much a push. Plus I lose out on the Best Buy bonus skins or whatever I guess, as the Halo 4 box seems generic.

What to do?
