The Skylanders iPhone/iPad app is free for the first time

Did something I haven't done in years... made a pre-order at Gamestop for the exclusive Battle pack. Neither employee knew anything about it when I asked to pre-order.

I saw on CAG that BB will have the 3 character packs for $14.99 starting Sunday. I think I'll just pick up a pack with the air and life elements that I am missing and wait for series 2. It sounds like all the series 1 characters are being rereleased.

Edit: It looks like there are only 3 packs that have life and air elements.
Ignitor, Warnado, Camo
Cynder, Lightning Rod, Zook
Wrecking Ball, Stealth Elf, Sonic Boom

Is one of those 3 better than the others? I know the Ignitor, Warnado, Camo pack might be more difficult to find. My daughter wants stomp smash so I might just have to just buy that on it's own.

You'd think that they would be told about it as that might be the easiest thing for them to get preorders for. I was in there the other day to get Mortal Kombat Komplete and they kept trying to get me to preorder something.

Exactly. Easiest pre-order sale ever. Back when I was tracking down figs they told me, at the time, they were getting at least 2 dozen calls a day.

All personal preference, and not what you want to hear, but honestly each set has one great one, the rest are kind of 'meh, with the exception of Wrecking Ball, who is terrible.

Stealth Elf and Cynder are my two go to characters. Stealth Elf for close quarters combat (she's a beast leveled up) and Cynder for range attacks. They are also two of the three(plus Whirlwind) female characters if that matters to you or your kids. Ignitor is the other strong one, IMO and he's a pretty cool looking figure.

If I were to pick one I'd say the Cynder pack because Lighting Rod and Zook are probably the best of the other 6 listed.

Not all, IIRC, but at least 2/3 of them. It's listed earlier in the thread if you want to browse back some.

Good idea with that pre-order. I'll do that today.

I just sent off the chip coupon for the Sidekicks yesterday -- I'd forgotten all about that promo, but say a huge display of the chip bag at Wal Mart, so I grabbed one. Might go back for another soon. They're less than $7 at Wal Mart. Anyone get their Sidekick yet? Do they do anything in game besides hang around?

Thanks. I was reading the wrong Wired article. I was reading up an old one where they were guessing that all 32 were being reposed.

Edit: I guess it doesn't really matter which set is better if all the stores I go to only have one of the 3 sets (stealth elf). On another note TRU said someone returned 32 drobots. I guess their resell plans fell through.

YMMV but my local Walmart has the 3 character packs for $15.50. Picked up Ignitor, Warnado, Camo &
Cynder, Lightning Rod, Zook. I am sure I would have bought a lot more if they had other packs available... I have already failed on my plan to wait for more series 2 info. I need to stay away from Best Buy on Sunday so i don't buy more figures when they go on sale for $14.99...

I preordered the Battle set from Game Stop yesterday. The guy there repeatedly asked "For which system?" and then said "We don't preorder the packs". I kept asking him to just check in the computer before he acknowledged that they could indeed preorder that set. It's what, $25 now or is it $30? Either way, it seems too much. I might just go eBay this set instead of leaving it for Santa.

This has to be the ultimate irony. Gamestop finally has something that people want to pre-order but the employees are clueless. They did try and get me to pre-order Borderlands or Madden.

I think I've decided to go with the Portal Owners pack for Giants instead of the starter pack. The two extra characters in the starter pack are Cynder (series 2), and Jet-Vac (360/PS3/PC). Jet-Vac is also supposed to be a light core figure which I would prefer, and I'm not sold on the series 2 figures even if they do have a new attack.

It seems as though with the Amazon.de early listings the new three packs are going to be one "new" skylander, and two series 2 reposes. This info comes from the Darkspyro.net forums.

That's disappointing. I agree about not buying two repeats in a three-pack.

I used the coupon from www.toysrus.com to get a Legendary Trigger Happy for $5. I suppose I could have also gotten a three pack of Legendaries for $15, but didn't really see the need for that. Maybe I'll change my mind tomorrow if I go back there and it's still in stock.

They had a fairly terrible and somewhat strange pre-order "Bonus" at TRU for Skylanders Giants : Preorder now, and we'll guarantee that at least one single Skylanders Giants figure will be available for you to purchase when you pick up your game. Gee, thanks.

I was thinking of getting the Legendary 3 pack yesterday but $15 after coupon still seemed too expensive for a pack of repeats with a stat boost. It's sad that they have to have a 20% off sale just to get their figures to msrp prices.

Hopefully the series 2 three pack prices aren't accurate. If they are, I am guessing the single packs may go up in price as well.

I'd bet they are since I pre-ordered the Gamestop-exclusive Shroomboom Battle Pack 3 pack and that was $25 MSRP

I was hoping that gamestop was just marking up their prices like they usually do.

Update: One of the four has processed. I got a note that the check for $2.00 had cleared. It was the one with Gil Runt's name in the Memo line. I sent it in on 7/3 and the check cleared 8/8... took awhile. Still waiting for the other three to clear.

I'll have to remember to check my bank account. Hopefully they don't run out of any of the figures before the promo ends.

I saw on CAG that Best Buy will have B1G1 free on single pack skylanders starting Sunday. I am debating whether or not I should stock up or hope for an even better sale. The nearby stores don't really seem to have much inventory to begin with so I am guessing it won't get much better.

they have the 3-packs for $14.99 all this week as well. Hmmm, I guess the B1G1 deal is slightly better.

I received my sidekicks today from Frito-Lay. I believe I sent them off right around the 7/3/12, came home to find 4 "padded" mailers in the mailbox.

I got mine today as well!
