Anyone know how the Game Stop Skylanders thing works? The guy at the store had no idea what it was and I spent about $80 getting new figures and those 4 mini figures. Pretty annoying as I had to explain to him what it was but he had no idea how to ring it up.

Wow... they *still* have some of those to give out? Maybe I should give one of the stores here a try to get the 2 the kids don't have.

The last time I knew about that promotion was during the Polar Whirl Wind release and one of the stores had *lots* of difficulty getting it to work properly. I stuck with it as I had a printout showing it was supposed to be free with a "Skylanders Giants" purchase but I had to convince the girl "Giants" meant *any* figure in the Giants (i.e. has Giants on the hang card) line. If first rang up at $999! Yes, almost a thousand!!

Some guy had three of the employee edition Metallic Gill Grunts on Ebay for 250 bucks apiece. I sent him an offer of ten bucks for one with the place offer now option. Needless to say he laughed and then declined my offer. Ridiculous the amount that some of these will actually sell for.

I assume the metallic Gill Grunt promo that TRU was running over the holidays is a different variant than this one. BTW, does anyone know when that will be distributed?

^All I've heard is "Mid January"... (EDIT - "By January 18th" is mentioned on several boards)

Amazon had LC Wham Shell in stock for January 16th delivery this morning and it's still showing "in stock" for that delivery date at the time of this post. I managed to snag one. That puts us "complete" for now unless I decide a LC Warnado is needed...

re: Skylanders, Anyone?

Took the boy out to TRU to see what was about. Nothing new so got the Swapforce Game Guide Book (Paperback).

There's a couple of nice pages documenting all the characters since serries 1.

We started to put little stickers against all the chars / derivates we have in our collection........Shock..........Horror.............Gasp...............

2 missing - Giants (series 2) Eruptor and Giants (series 2) Drobot

Got them both in LC from the Giants Series but must of overlooked the others (easily done I suppose with the number of derivatives coming nowerrdays).

Series 2 has gone from the shops over here in the UK so it'll be a search on ebay or to my local Game (Videogame Store) to look through the secondhand box.

On that subjuct have any of you guys had any good finds in that respect. My wife picked up a glow in the dark cynder (no card though) on the off chance. Payed around £4, it was a little off colour, but we were happy.

Are you asking about the two that you are missing? Before Swap Force came out, they re-released the series 2 Drobot. That's one of the easier one's to find on the shelf now. I don't recall if Eruptor was ever hard to find or not. In any event, I don't believe either of these are considered "rare" so you should be able to get them at a reasonable price on ebay if you went that route.

re: Skylanders, Anyone?

Just recently found this website http://www.skylanderscharacters.com

I can't believe all the variants that are out there for these things (and some mighty rare and expensive ones at that). Here I thought I might actually be able to collect them all lol.

Never liked Gill Grunt in game, but that's possibly the sharpest variation yet.

Do you think, Skylanders collecting is a reason to emigrate?

Not had a bad day here in the UK. Got a hair cut and pick up a second hand Series 2 Prism Break (another that we only got in lightcore during the original release). Also picked up LC Countdown - leveled him with the boy (level 7) - do lightcores level quicker than standards - seamed so.

Also went to charity shop and bought Casino Royal DVD, James and the Giant Peach and Enid Blyton's Fantastic 5 all for £3.5

re: Skylanders, Anyone?

Still no code in email. I gave them a call but got a brick wall type response: "I have no way to look up your account to verify if you qualify" (like I believed *that* one but I know I do as I spent ~$160 on Swap Force between 10/15 and 12/31 ant it's shown in my Rewards R Us account) and "We were told to tell people to be patient as there were lots of emails to send." So... still waiting. If it doesn't come by tonight I'll email CS.

On a bright note, today's mail brought the 2nd Quick Draw Rattle Shake I'd won. Now the grandkids won't be fighting over the first one as they'll each have a copy.

re: Skylanders, Anyone?

My daughter and I were cataloging all of our Skylanders collection this morning. We figured out that, despite the level packs from Spyros Adventures not working in Swap Force, they become a magic item of sorts. Each of them rains down an item like ice or cannonballs for a short period of time. We are cataloging all our our figures, what level they are currently at and if they have been fully upgraded or not. It is a daunting task and makes me realize just how much money we've blown on all of this.

re: Skylanders, Anyone?

^I wouldn't say "blown"... I pretty much associate buying the figures to buying random toys or Pokemon cards (my grandson's second addiction). A skylander figure is about the cost of 3-4 packs of cards, most of which are "commons" and not all that good. To get a "good" card he's spent as much as $20 on packs. All so he can brag about the cards he has to his friends - *none* of them actually play the game, they just "collect" the cards. At least with Skylanders the money spent is on something actually useful for a while. In addition to being used in the games he gets the figures out all the time for mini-wars on the floor. They also beat the heck out of some crappy "Happy Meal" toy that'll get played with a half hour or so and forgotten. To that end I hold them back and dole them out a couple at a time over months. I just gave them the last 2 Legendary figures from Giants yesterday. That way they play with them all both in-game and on the floor.

___

I got a reply from TRU on the email I'd sent. They told me to *call* CS! I sent back a reply that I'd only sent the email because the phone CS wouldn't do anything! Looks like I'm getting the run-around on the "free" figure...

*EDIT*
Well... I may have to take back that last "run-around" comment. I got a reply to my follow up email and they acknowleged they are having issues with the free figure redemption/email process. They indicated to either call or email tomorrow (Mon) and they'd have resolution for the problems.

Had a $5 RZ certificate laying around so snagged one. My local BB had it, so I'll pick it up tomorrow. Thanks Decker!

Thanks! Had one shipped to store for pickup. The kids'll like it even if it doesn't show up in-game with the color variant.

Picked up my Sprocket today... pretty cool little S2 character. I like the tank (it's the 4th upgrade). Arenas are an easy way to build up cash.

At least your figures have been opened! I would say 75% of our giants / skylanders collection are still sealed in multiple boxes in the basement lol
