Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
GTA IV was fun for the most part but V outdoes it in almost every single way imaginable.

I think with GTA V, we all saw the previews, we all saw those jaw dropping screenshots, and we started building these huge expectations in our heads. I think what we got was Rockstar pushing the PS3 and 360 to their limits, and that corners had to be cut. It was still a masterpiece that blows just about everything else in the sandbox world out of the water. I enjoy Watch Dogs for a change of pace and a new map, but it has a long way to go, and the online portion is a joke. Sure, Rockstar dropped the ball with GTA Online by focusing on getting the economy stabilized, and ignoring the continued cries for Heists. But overall it's still the most fun I've ever had with any game online, ever. |
Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
This remastered version will probably be one of the best looking games ever made

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
I haven't played V much, been waiting for this PC announcement. But I think IV had many aspects that were superior to what I've seen in 5. Mostly just small stuff that adds to the realism. How civs crawl around after being shot and such, the awesome driving mechanics, vehicle damage, etc.
I do like the city and mood of V more though, and the story seems a bit better, although I haven't completed it. Can't wait to give it a full play through. |

but it certainly doesn't look as good as Second Son, for example.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
I'm in the camp of inFamous: Second Son not looking that impressive. It didn't feel next gen while I was playing it. Plus you can tell from a small trailer for GTAV that it looks inferior? Okay.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
I always thought GTA looked kind of muddy; not that it looks bad, but the style of the game and the large world means that other aspects like lighting and reflections were never particularly great or stood out. I don't think we'll see a significant bump in graphics quality, just a higher resolution and frame rate, and probably better draw distance given the trailer.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
Second Son had amazing visuals (especially climbing the space needle), but the map was tiny so the resource requirement isn't the same.
GTA V looks like a higher resolution of the PS3/Xbox versions thus far, I hope they upped the poly count on the models in the game a bit. But in all honesty, I'm good with a higher res copy with a better framerate. |
Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
Some amazing visuals, but people still looked weird in inFamous. I'll take the gameplay in GTAV over inFamous any day of the week (never even finished inFamous due to it being so boring).
The trailer's visuals looked vastly different from the original. |

Well, I just might make it my mission. You seem to take things that are said about these corporations and some of their not so consumer friendly decisions to heart.

And to the people who are so sure of me being in the minority.....6 people I work with cannot stand it and a few others I know who say they like it say it's just ok but miss the detail of the city that IV offered (I know, we're probably talking like 12 or so people here but I'm just using it as an example). I also hear a lot of "It's good but nothing like what I was expecting". Most people who do not like V are probably just not as vocal about it. The awesomeness of feeling like you were in NYC was really cool. V is a giant open playground with a ton of blank spots and washed out visuals. Yes there is still a lot of detail there but nothing like in IV. GTA online seems to be getting the "Detail" treatment more than the single player as well. I use to love hoping in cabs in IV for the view and to see the crazy fights going on as you're cruising around in the cab via the auto-cinema cam - that camera is not even available in V (single player) but is in GTA online and it is hilarious when people start trying to bomb you....if you're in a cab online it takes a ton of hits before that cab driver yells "screw you I'm outta here!!" |
Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
Just the mere fact that GTAV has checkpoints within it's mission, makes it a better game than IV - everything else fades when compared to that.

When I drove around and saw that UCLA (as ULSA) was in the game, I got a huge thrill as I didn't know it made the cut, and it's a place I know very well. It was cool to walk through the GTA equivalent. It feels like being in L.A., for better or worse. I can see exactly why you and your co-workers in N.Y. might just prefer GTA IV. |
Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
I'm from the suburbs so I get that same feeling when playing the Nuketown map on CoD.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
 Good point King but I don't live anywhere near NYC - It really is the game environment I like more - has nothing to do with being from NY but that is good logic.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
How about they do an upgraded version of Liberty City and add it to the world of GTAV on the next-gen consoles? I would love to be able to go back to LC within the same game and see a change in ambiance, music, the way civilians behave, etc.

Many keep saying Miami for vice city and it just may be as I believe (and I honestly can't remember the source) Rockstar said they wouldn't do a setting outside of a Mock American city. |

So would I. Right now, the biggest question I have is....where is GTA VI going to take place.
