Ew, really?
That sounds like a massive pain in the ass, and an actual step backwards for the game in terms of fun.

^^ Great, MORE realism. Pretty soon you'll have to eat and poop... and wait for it... real time sleep events.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

IGN has put up a hands on preview, and it's a pretty interesting read if you don't mind a few mission spoilers.

Please let it have a decent checkpoint system. I don't need something super easy but missions like the bank heist in IV drove me crazy. I know most of you super gamers completed that on the first try but it really needed a checkpoint or two in there.
It's a mature rated game and a lot of people playing will be dad's with kids, house work, and jobs to do. Take it easier on those of us with limited playing time!

The whole grading your mission thing sucked.

Yeah, you just barely escaped that mission, here's how bad you were.

They keep talking about how big the map is but is it the same size as the real L.A.?

Based on what I've seen, the "LA" area is quite a bit smaller than Liberty City from GTA IV. What will make up for it are the natural wilderness areas and small towns.

Ugh. They do realize the name of the game is Grand Theft Auto, right? We should have zero incentive to buy cars in the game . But these are the kind of reasons that I did not care for IV on a whole. I was hoping that they would go back to the absolute mayhem of III or Vice City, but it seems we are going instead to the other side. It seems that political correctness has finally gotten the best of the Grand Theft Auto series and now we must have a "real" game instead. Soon, you'll get a wanted level for jaywalking.

Thank you! I never finished IV and that mission was the reason why. Beyond irritating to have to start all the way over each time.

Why not just use cheat codes? That was the only way to make the game fun again for me.

This is stupid. Very stupid. Realistic? Yes, but I don't want these games realistic.

I don't think it's about being politically correct.

I think they wanted to add to the strategy of the game, and add a bit more of a challenge. They haven't really said how this whole car theft mechanic will work, so it could be that most of the time you're safe. And if you take the car to a custom shop, you're gonna be safe.

But if you carjack someone and start swerving on the wrong side of the road, maybe the cops wanna have a word with you.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

Yeah, i kind of feel like it won't end up being that big of an issue. I assume there will be a shop where you can get new paint or plates to take care of it. If not, you just steal a few more cars. Evading the police is always kind of fun anyway.

The games always found a way to get the police after you. GTA4's method was fairly lame - every single time you try squeezing between a police car and another car on one of the bridges in order to pass, the police car would decide to change lanes, sideswiping you.

Was thinking of this earlier for a side activity

Therapy Sessions

A few missions in the option opens up and with each session your stories become more and more horrific to the Therapist like Sopranos. You would have to choose dialogue options and be careful of what you say to him/her and speak in innuendos.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

Random question, did Amazon ever have a $10 promo for pre-ordering this game? I apparently pre-ordered about two years ago with a gold box discount and so don't know if there was ever an incentive. If not, I'll cancel and go with the Best Buy $20 promo.

I've been looking for a while, on and off. Never seen any promo $ for ordering at Amazon.

It's also not entirely true. It's only if you're spotted stealing the car and continue to drive it after loosing the cops without changing the plates or getting it respayed.
If the cops don't see you steal it in the first place, then you won't get trouble.

Actually, Los Santos is a little bigger than GTA IV's Liberty City. R* confirmed this in the first Asked And Answered about GTA V.

yup. some of the usual suspects of the PS3 douches sound like they are in.

and I got your notice on SRIV - my copy is from gamefly so I dunno if it needs one of those online codes. - if so might not be able to do co-op.
