I thought there was some bug with the game and it was driving me crazy b/c I couldn't figure out why my damn controller would keep vibrating for no reason what-so-ever. I was playing co-op with one of my friends and I must have commented at least 5 times on how my controller was acting crazy. Now I'm just laughing at myself b/c that's actually a great gag.
lol

Spoiler:
I think the weapon is called Moxi's good touch...and when she gives it to you she says something like..."this is my favorite weapon...you will know why"

I'm having a hard time saving more than $2k at any one time in this game... and I'm at level 15.

She seems to keep giving new version of "Good Touch" if you keep tipping her. Not sure if the amount goes up or not, but it seems pretty random. I'm on the 3rd "Good Touch" @ level 29.

I was able to get in on this morning's code (bringing my current golden key total up to 10), but there's no way I'll be around for the redemption later today. After reading about the lack of items you guys have been getting from the chest I'm beginning to wonder if it's even worth it at this point. Still... it would be nice to have the option to redeem these directly from the shift website.

There is any easy way around this, but you might find it ruins your fun. Personally, I don't mind duping money, but don't like duping anything else.

I'm pretty certain it's not worth it. After seeing the final few bosses in the game go out in showers of loot, plenty of it purple, I'm not nearly as concerned about golden keys anymore. I ended the game with well over 30 purple items and I never touched the chest (except that one accidental time, but that doesn't count). The golden keys seem like more of a promotional gimmick for Gearbox, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Or, to put it another way: lack of loot is not an issue I've faced in this game.

this game is not about saving. it's about getting loot and reselling it.

In the first game I ended up with hundreds of millions in unspent money. Who knew all it would take were some slot machines to constantly keep my money below $10k? Between those machines and my tips to Moxxi, I bet I've spent close to $100k so far.

However, those machines are great for getting Eridium. You can just duplicate your cash with a friend and then go to town on them while you are both in the game so that both of you benefit when you win.

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

I go back to my point earlier in this thread when I asked why wait to use your keys. I used mine at level 10...15...and 20..now that I am mid level 20, items are dropping at a much greater rate, and I am getting loot in machines and off enemies/chests that are amazing. Hording your keys just does not make sense to me.

I used my one golden key right away (when I was at level 7) and I got an awesome purple pistol that does 85x3 damage, and it still kills the shit out of people at level 20.

I'm probably going to use all 5 of my keys I got this morning later today, depending what I get with each one. Probably just get more grenade mods, shields, and relics, .

And how is anyone supposed to know that without having a trailblazer like you to point it out? The conceit of the Golden Key was to give instant access to level-appropriate items. There's no way to know alone that the quality of drops is exponential and the GK chest is linear.

I have 8 and I should have 13 whenever he posts this evening. I'll start using one per session with my group of 3, but I'm still less than level 20 so I haven't started seeing these amazing items out in the wild.

The potential for a truely great weapon at the max level. I don't see the point in using it early as the chest scales to your level when it is opened.

How are you getting all of these keys? I keep hearing the name Shift. Is it some kind of service like Steam?

You need to set up a shift account and then link it to whatever platform you're playing borderlands 2 on. See here for details: http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/sh...d.php?t=149367

As for extra keys, over the past week Gearbox has been sending out redemption codes for golden keys as a way to test their new shift website. If you have a twitter account you should follow @DuvalMagic so you'll be notified when the redemption codes are posted.

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

Just used three keys, the first two were two sets of shields, and then finally on the third one, a couple of decent guns. So it only took me 5 keys before seeing a gun in the chest.

edit: Go figure, the assault rifle I got is horrible. It fires a spread shot, of 3 different angles, one per shot, and double ammo cost... bleh.

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

Are you opening the chests up in a single player game or are you doing it in co-op games? I know more enemies + more players = better drops, but I don't know if that transfers over to the chests too. That doesn't explain the lack of guns you've been getting but maybe it explains the less than stellar items? Now that I have a bunch of keys I suppose I can try it out both ways and see if I notice a difference.

Single-player. But I doubt that matters, they are all purples at my level.

See, I would assume the exact opposite. "More Players = Better Loot" has always been the mantra of Borderlands. Why would you think it wouldn't matter? I'm pissed I only have a group of 3 to open the chest with!

Does it mean better or just more loot? Within reason, I'd expect purples of the same level to be about the same, ignoring random elements that might make a weapon better/worse. I'd think they'd have an internal item level like most loot based games, where all the stats equal up to a specific item level (not to be confused with the level requirement).

Regardless, I remember reading about the first Borderlands that chest contents didn't change depending on the number of players, just enemy drops.

Clearly neither of us know. But it stands to reason (to me, at least) that everything scales.

Unless Gearbox said that, I don't know how anyone can say the chest contents don't change because they're randomized anyway. Schrödinger's Loot Chest!

Seems like some people kept track of average quality level of loot from chests over many, many hours, and came to that conclusion.

I still say, a purple is a purple, with maybe a slight range in item level possibilities.

I'm in the same boat. I think someone in our party will just temporarily load up another character on dual screen while we do some golden chest looting.

Could be, but an item is more than a color and a level. There are attributes to consider as well. Bazillions.
