Sounds interesting right now, let's see if they can really deliver.
We've seen the game running, and now we share Colantonio and Smith's vision too. Dishonored is the antithesis of a edge-of-your-seat roller-coaster ride. It's a game about assassination where you don't have to kill anyone. It's a game about infiltration where you can set up traps and slaughter the entire garrison of an aristocrat's mansion rather than sneak in. It's a game about brutal violence where you can slip in and out of a fortified barracks with nobody ever knowing you were there. It's a game about morality and player choice where the world you create is based on your actions, not navigating conversation trees.

So I guess you are from/close to the dev team.
If you can, can you elaborate a little bit more about what the game is about? Just a general idea. From the links I've seen online it's not pretty clear to me.

New "franchise?" I guess we're at the point where we just assume that every game is going to get sequels.
This sounds interesting though.

Sorry... I deleted the posts because I am not sure what I am allowed to talk about... yet.
FWIW, I have been lurking on DVDTalk for a while because I like the vibe here more than my past haunts (UGO, DCTP, GamersRepublic) and the traffic is more manageable than NeoGaf or Penny Arcade.

The game is announced now - so it's no secret that some people work on it. You just happen to be on of those people.

I knew your name looked familiar... you're the guy that used to send out the IGDA-Austin newsletter. Congrats on the upcoming game.

Cool
Nice to meet you all.
KUNG FU FIIIIGHHHHHHHT!
Ha! Yes... in a former life, that was me. I can no longer support the IGDA after finding out that their director makes over 6 figures while none of those $50/year membership dues from students and jobseekers ever reach local chapters who work really hard and spend money out of their own pocket to serve as the relevant face of that international scam.
I am under strict instructions to avoid leaking anything that is not already out... apparently, information is a commodity.
Here is what I can say so far...
More about the design philosophy of our co-Directors can be found if you google "rockpapershotgun Dark Futures Part 4: Raphael & Harvey Arkane" (I am unable to post links until I hit 30 posts... this is what I get for lurking for so long)

Ooo, another person that works at a game company

Here is what I can say so far...
- Arkane has been collecting a lot of folks who are into the "Looking Glass School of Game Design", including myself. This game is the culmination of that collection over the years. We prefer for games to be simulations of reality as opposed to simply starting some scripted sequence when the player enters a trigger volume.
- First Person... because the avatar is you
- Analog Stealth, but stealth is optional
- Visceral Combat that rewards skillful play, but combat is optional
- Overarching design philosophy of Arkane focuses on gameplay that does not tell you how you should play or what is morally right and wrong... you choose what kind of player you are through the actions you make within the simulation. This goes beyond simply selecting branches in a conversation tree.
- Mantra: Meaningful Choices
- If you like Deus Ex and Thief, you will really like Dishonored

The trailer popped up over at Teamxbox. It looks like something out of a H.G Wells novel. Like to see a bit more but interesting...

I totally forgot about this. Watched the trailer last night and thought about creating a new thread about this, LOL!
The trailer was really great, reminds me of the excitement I got when I watched the first trailer for Assassins Creed.
