re: Darksiders II

I bought the first one when it was really cheap and was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it. Buying the sequel is a no brainer for me...

Yeah, the first was one of my faves of this generation. I'll be waiting to pick up this when it's cheaper, but will definitely buy.

re: Darksiders II

I thought the first one was alright, but for me it got over-shadowed by Bayonetta (which came out on the same day and was by far the better game), and by the time I finished that, I had no interest to go back to Darksiders. And now this one has Sleeping Dogs coming out on the same day...

re: Darksiders II

Went to BB to pick my copy up, and the blue shirt chick asked me what the game was about, since they were selling a lot of them already. That was at 11:15am. I'm not sure what "a lot" amounts to in her mind.

re: Darksiders II

Decided to cancel the DDD order (I hope they do) and rented it today instead. It's more of the same, which is a very good thing.

I also rented sleeping dogs. Stupid Family Video making me put down a 20 dollar deposit to rent sleeping dogs

I liked both games (the first Darksiders was way better than Bayonetta, IMO) but both of them got to a point where I got frustrated by a boss (that huge multi phase boss with all the arms or whatnot) or a level (the desert type level) and gave up.

I loved the desert level. The only place I can think where you might get stuck is beating and winning your horse in the arena. The "Tremors/Dune" worm was freaking epic...both the suspense of avoiding it and eventually fighting it on horseback. Awesome.

I only played a couple hours of Bayonetta, and while the combat in Bayonetta was better, it seemed like much more of a linear action game. Maybe it opens up more later on. I preferred the exploration and Zelda style adventure game layout of Darksiders. Definitely looking forward to this one, I'll probably pick it up on the pc at some point when it drops in price.

Along with God of War and Zelda, this one seems to be "influenced" (and I don't mean that in a negative way) by Prince of Persia and Shadow of the Collossus.

You could certainly find worse influences.

Really looking forward to this.
Sounds like they added some good platforming and some giant bosses that you have to climb from those influences (I haven't read the reviews just pulling from what you mentioned). Definitely adds to my interest.

I played, but never finished, the first one, and I really enjoyed it. I'll pick this one up for cheap down the road. Looks fun.

re: Darksiders II

After playing for awhile now, with the way death moves and looks, I find myself thinking I'm playing a very updated version of Soul Reaver. This isn't a bad thing by far as Soul Reaver was an amazing game for it's time.

I don't like it any more or any less, it's pretty much more of the same thing. That isn't a bad thing at all.

Actually all I can remember is I fell off some platform and couldn't find my way back up

Oh and there were worms?

I think?

Oooh, I LOOOVED Soul Reaver.

Yeah this is one of the few games I'm looking forward too this year. I loved the 1st game and I love the Four Horseman(? Because I think in this series, one is a woman)/ Heaven and Hell stuff.

Can't wait to play.

I wasn't going to get this, but for that price, why the hell not. It may be cancelled as a pricing error, but doesn't hurt to try.
Has anyone had this ship from DD yet?

Reviews very positive overall. 360 version seems to have a few technical issues...not sure if they apply to PS3.

My order is still pending, but not cancelled. So that's a positive.

And glassdragon, if you buy the game from somewhere else hang onto your receipt. Back when ModNation Racers came out (May 2010, I think), I had pre-ordered it from DD on the cheap. Then I wrote in and cancelled the pre-order. Or at least thought I did. They still processed and shipped the game to me about three weeks after release.

re: Darksiders II

Same here...pending.

I'm not too worried about it though. I still have Mass Effect 2 (yes, 2) and Uncharted 3 sitting unplayed.

If they don't come through, I'll likely wait a month or two.

re: Darksiders II

This game is long as hell. I thought I could finish it in 2 or 3 days and then move on to sleeping dogs which I also rented. Day 3 done and just got to the 3rd world, about 14 hours of playtime so far.

re: Darksiders II

Finished this today. Since I have sleeping dogs here I wanted to finish it as quick as possible. So going as quick as possible, on easy, and ignoring any side stuff it took me 17 hours. Pretty good for games now a days. If you want to find everything you are probably looking at closer to 25 or 30.

There's also a permadeath Nightmare mode. One life and your file is deleted when you die
