Darksiders II hits 360, PS3, PCs next year


THQ sequel to last year's apocalyptic action game depicts the end of the world from the perspective of Death instead of War.

Gamers can get ready to saddle up as a Horseman of the Apocalypse once again, as THQ today confirmed Darksiders II would arrive for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC sometime in 2012.

The publisher included few details about the game in its announcement, but did specify that the game would follow the horseman Death instead of the original game's protagonist, War. Darksiders II will tell a parallel story to the original instead of continuing on from that title's conclusion. In the game, Death will attempt to clear War's "good" name (he's accused of starting the end of times ahead of time) and save mankind in the process.

As for gameplay specifics, THQ said that Darksiders II will feature "a dramatically larger world." Along with the larger world, the publisher is planning to give players upgradeable equipment, new enemies, and bigger dungeons.

Although this is the first time details on Darksiders II have been divulged, the game's existence is no surprise. The original Darksiders had been on store shelves barely a month when the publisher publicly penciled in a sequel to the apocalyptic action game.

I'm looking forward to playing as Death for a change, rather than fighting him as the next-to-last boss in yet another Castlevania game. Bring it, Belmonts!

I really dug the first one, which had one of the few ending cinematics that make playing a game worthwhile. I'm definitely looking forward to the second one.

This is a must play for me. I loved Darksiders.

Planning to go back through it on hard, when I get some time. It was just that good.

Should have played it on hard from the start, like I always do now, but I was still playing on normal back then for some reason.

Darksiders 2 launches June 26, pre-order stuff revealed

THQ has revealed that Darksiders II is coming to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on June 26. Huzzah! It's also revealed the various pre-order bonuses available at different retails. Huh ... zuuuhr.

Without further ado, here's the extra stuff you can get, and where you can get it:

GameStop: "Death Rides" pack consisting of exclusive sidequests.
Best Buy: "Angel of Death" pack consisting of angelic armor, unique scythes, and special "trail" for the companion crow, Dust.
Amazon: "Deadly Despair" pack consisting of a permanent speed boost for Death's horse, Despair.

Ah, pre-order incentives. Because the internal conflict of indecisive customers fuels the infernal engine powering our favorite industry.

I never got around to playing the first one. I was worried it would have too many puzzles. I don't mind a few, but I don't want one around every corner. I want my action :)

Gonna go ahead and bump this since it releases tomorrow.

Apparently there's a review embargo until tomorrow, but what has leaked out still sound promising. Sounds like they have improved upon the first.

I wasn't going to get this, but for that price, why the hell not. It may be cancelled as a pricing error, but doesn't hurt to try.

They've gotten better. I have placed 1 order recently and I got it within 5 days from order.

I have so many movies to watch and games to play that even if it takes them a week or two then I am still find since I'm saving 25 bucks.

Along with God of War and Zelda, this one seems to be "influenced" (and I don't mean that in a negative way) by Prince of Persia and Shadow of the Collossus.

You could certainly find worse influences.

Really looking forward to this.
