Played for about an hour online and my first impression.....If you have MW2 dont bother spending your $$$ on this, its the same exact game. There are a few tweeks here and there, but it feels and plays EXACTLY like MW2.
Alot of people I know played MW2 over WaW and Black Ops, so this is good news for them.

The Support killstreak rewards seem they're going to ruin Domination games. It is easy to get 34 kills in a three-round game of domination and end up with two emergency airdrops, plus two of two other rewards.

Ugh. Campaign ruined, in my mind, if this is prevalent throughout single player.

Can someone give me a rundown of who made this game? I had thought Infinity Ward had split from Activision and this franchise, but it looks like they made this game anyway?

So who's playing the Wii version?

BTW, I'm glad I'm not interested in the bonuses that come with the "Hardened" version, because that shit's sold the fuck out and impossible to find for a reasonable price.

It was made by what is left of IW and a new development team called Sledgehammer. Sledgehammer was in charge of the multi-player.

Per Wikipedia:

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was known to be in development after a legal dispute between Infinity Ward co-founders Jason West and Vince Zampella and Activision resulted in the pair being fired from the company. Several dozen Infinity Ward employees followed West and Zampella as a result of the ongoing dispute, causing Activision to enlist the services of Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software to assist development of the title. Modern Warfare 3 utilizes the MW3 Engine, unofficially the IW 5.0 Engine. Improvements include better streaming and audio. Sledgehammer Games announced the game to be the first entry in the Modern Warfare series to have built-in support for color-blind gamers.

In my experience this has always been the case, and I've only ever played the IW games.

So half of IW split off to form another company or something? Didn't know that. What game are they developing (or has that not been announced yet)?

IW games have had a few parts with infinitely respawning guys, but it is vastly different than what Treyarch does (at least in CoD3; I never played Black Ops).

They're still working on their first game. It hasn't been announced yet.

I know what a clown car is but what are clown car respawns? Do 40 enemies literally pour out of one vehicle?

Its in reference to the Duggar family

I picked up Battlefield 3 last week and MW3 today. Enjoy BF3 so far and am going to install MW3 after I get done with work at 4am tonight.

Off for the next two weeks too...should be fun. Took time off not for the games...just maxed out on vacation time. Just worked out that way.

Can't wait to get back into MW...played 2 for awhile a few months back.

Re: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (PS3, 360...)

My Hardened Edition just arrived. Holy Hell, it's the size of a shoebox! I passed over the Uncharted 3 CE because of space concerns but have owned the last two Hardened CoD titles and those boxes weren't much bigger than a standard box (or maybe two). Didn't want a collector's box anywhere near this big.

Funny thing is that there's nothing inside that's at all big so I wonder what the deal is with the huge box?

Bragging rights!

Actually, I now wish that I had pre-ordered the Hardened Edition as it looks like I could've easily sold it for a healthy profit.

I'm underwhelmed with the multiplayer. I didn't immediately like BO, but I think it looks better and plays smoother than MW3. Only played for about an hour, so I could change my mind, but for now... I'd stick to BO.

I felt the exact opposite. I felt MW2 played better than BO, and I think that this game feels more polished than MW2 so far.

You know how most of these games create the illusion that you’re in the middle of fighting a huge battle but yet it seems that you're the only one doing any killing?

What this means is, let's say you're trapped behind a wall, and shooting enemy after enemy with no end in sight. Until you advance to where the game wants you to go, those enemies will keep on coming, and coming, and coming.

Played the PC version multiplayer a bit at work and I'm enjoying it. I can't believe there are guys that are already over level 20.

I don't notice much of a difference over the Black Ops and MW2, but there's nothing wrong with that in my opinion. I love the faster combat compared to Battlefield.
