There were a few dozen people at one of my local Wal-Mart's tonight. It's a SuperCenter, so they're open 24 hours anyway.

All dudes, mostly dressed in t-shirts, and could stunt double for Comic Book Guy. They had a tent set up, and two or three people at a time were in the enclosed space trying out the game.

Re: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (PS3, 360...)

Walked into my local Best Buy and walked out 20 min later with my copy without pre-ordering. There were probably around 100 people there, they opened about 5 registers at once and i got lucky and ended up in front of one of them.

Played for about an hour online and my first impression.....If you have MW2 dont bother spending your $$$ on this, its the same exact game. There are a few tweeks here and there, but it feels and plays EXACTLY like MW2.

I just went to my Walmart at 12:30 assuming I would have dodged the lines, nooooope. Still like 30 virgins ( ) in like waiting to get this game, I decided to say fuck it and just get it after work tomorrow.

Re: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (PS3, 360...)

If anyone pre-ordered the 360 version from Amazon, keep an eye on your email. Amazon has added a $25 credit towards Xbox LIVE 12 Month Gold Membership (Online Game Code). Current price is $60 and the credit brings it down to $35. The discount must be used by 11/19/2011.

This is for both the Regular and Hardened Edition. And the timing is great, because my subscription expires in a couple weeks.

I've played the multiplayer for about an hour, wow, what a difference between this & Ops. I wish I would've played MW2 for the past week or so.

Sounds like I can save $60 on this. For two years now I've bought the CoD game and within three months been bored silly by them. If this is really nothing more than a polished version of MW 2, it's pathetic.

You say this like it is a bad thing. MW2 multiplayer was great (except for the Cheating and Nukes) - it was far more polished than Black Ops and its wonky hit detection.

Goddamnit I just read that there are infinite respawning enemies in MW3. I thought that was a staple of the Treyarch games, not Inifinity Ward

Re: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (PS3, 360...)

Picked it up last night at Walmart. I enjoyed it for the 2 hours or so I played. I just love the feel of it better than Black Ops. It does feel like MW2 with more polish, but that's what I want. I only played online. I never even finished MW2's single player campaign, and I don't know when I'll touch this one. Me and my friends are all about multiplayer.

Re: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (PS3, 360...)

After about 4 hours with the game yesterday, this series is starting to feel like Madden...same thing every year. Still very fun though, just nothing different.

Kill Confirmed is pretty cool, as is the new Survival mode (think Zombies, only more intense).

I love how no one gave a crap that there were no reviews until midnight. I'm sure they had something to hide, just like BF.

Doesn't matter, series is review-proof.

Yep. COD has never burned me so I will blindly buy every release until they do so.

Re: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (PS3, 360...)

Did Amazon.com offer $20 future gaming credit for MW3?

I pre-ordered like a year ago and can never keep track of all the promos they offered since.

Ugh those posters are fucking annoying. "How much did you get paid to write this review and give it a good score?", etc; The series has always been well made, sure it's a yearly rehash with new levels but if it's plays well, is polished and entertaining then it deserves the praise -- even if it isn't a huge change from the last series entry. Fatigue will eventually sit in and effect sales, but it still has a few iterations til it hits that (I do hate supporting Activision though.) The bitching gets old though (though I definitely understand where it's coming from, I can't stand the Ratchet and Clank games due to their extreme repetition).

Then again, these are probably the same people that would shit on my reviews of Fallout 3 (loved 1 and 2 though) and Oblivion for being boring as hell.

The answer lies in the first parragraph of the Joystiq review:

The narrative around Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is competing at this point for attention with the game's content itself. This is the title that Infinity Ward was working on when the famous split between Activision and studio heads Vince Zampella and Jason West went down. The game was subsequently developed by not one but three different studios from then on (and according to the game's credits, Neversoft and Treyarch helped out as well, which makes this practically an all-hands-on-deck effort for Activision).
