Not completely surprising, but Wii U will be region locked: http://www.bgr.com/2012/09/24/wii-u-...cked-nintendo/

I think Supermallet was looking for your thoughts on the console, not for your thoughts on why you went to the event. I could be wrong.

His post contained everything it needed to. He's an XBOX/PS3 fanboy who wouldn't even entertain the notion that Nintendo would put out an enjoyable system.

^^ I didn't get that at all. I think many of us are skeptical that the Wii U is innovative enough to deliver anything better than the Wii. I've bought every Nintendo system since the NES but this will probably never see the light of day in my house because I feel really burned by the Wii.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to gerrythedon.

 That makes more sense. That's what I get for not reading back and just trusting others' quotes.

I have also owned every Nintendo console and feel burned by the Wii. After that E3 I and the rest of the board couldn't stop talking about it. I even waited in line overnight in the cold at Target with my brothers and nephew for it. The novelty of the Wii wore off and I have had no desire to play it in ages. I am very wary to say the least of the WiiU and I will definitely not be there Day 1. I'm not averse to trying it out and consider a purchase if it doesn't go the way of the Dreamcast and/or lose out immediately to whatever promise/hype the new Xbox and Playstation hold.

I have a pre-order in with that Walmart bundle just for the sake of it. I'm hoping to be thoroughly impressed with something between now and the launch so that I can feel good about keeping it. But when that date draws near and I'm not yet excited, the pre-order gets cancelled and I save some $. I WANT to be excited for this -- its about tradition as much as anything. Buying the new Nintendo console has always been an event, one of the select few times in my adult life I've REALLY felt like a kid again.

BUT, I have big reservations about yet another gimmick meant to obscure the fact that we're actually playing the same exact games over and over again without real innovation.

Did Monolith ever give any info on their Wii U game? I didn't see anything posted about it from TSG.

This is my approach for the WiiU. It is the same that I did for the Wii as far as trying it out first at my borther-in-law's place and was not at all impressed with it. Was the 1st Nintendo console that i did not own. Hoping this will not be round 2, will just wait and see.

Nintendo needs to buy back Rare from Microsoft so we can get a proper Banjo-Kazooie 3 and a new Conker's Bad Fur Day.

Also, let's get a new Startropics already

I get to try out the Wii U tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing if this thing is worth the money.

I don't see why Nintendo would have to be involved to get those. Unless you're suggesting that Rare can't do them now because they don't fit MS's sensibilities. I suppose they're not kiddie/casual enough for the Kinect market, yet not "mature" enough for the FPS crowd.

What I'd love to see (and this would require Nintendo) is a new Donkey Kong platformer like DK 64.

My son is gerrythedon's nephew and is a big time COD/Gears of War/Resistance/Halo/Borderlands/Minecraft player, and he was looking forward to trying out ZombiU at the WiiU Experience. Even though they did not have the game playable due to the atmosphere being more family friendly, he enjoyed himself a lot with NintendoLand. He kept going back to it to play just another round....

His WiiU is reserved and he is already planning his schedule in November considering he is deep into Borderlands2, along with the new Halo and COD releases in the same month.

I hate to say it but all I care about is a follow up to Blast Corps. Make it a VC title for all I care. WANT.

They pulled it since kids were Traumatized by it.... or something like that, my brother asked the [beverage and snack] chick there.

Microsoft owns all three so it ain't happening on a Nintendo console. As for MS stepping up and doing them for Xbox, are any of the guys that actually made those games still at Rare?

I think MS screwed the pooch on that 360 Banjo game, although enough time has passed they could probably reboot the franchise just fine. Conker was never a success was it? That was a late N64 game.

Then there is Blast Corps. I'd love a sequel or the original on XBLA but it was a niche title at best 15 years ago, I don't see MS trotting that out anytime soon.

I'm not even sure Animal Crossing has a release date at all.

I don't think Animal Crossing even has a 3DS release date, does it? And those videos came out at system launch.
