re: Battlefield Talk

Apparently Premium is showing up as free on PS3 via the in-game store. Go grab it if you have that version of the game. Not sure what they'll end up doing to fix this glitch.

re: Battlefield Talk

Yeah, thanks. I would definitely have picked that up for free.

Borderlands 2 is absurdly fun...rolled with Diecast and OG all afternoon. Can't describe how much that game is made for me.

re: Battlefield Talk

As I mentioned earlier in the week, I picked up the premium edition from BB using their coupon for $30. I spent a couple of hours yesterday trying out Close Quarters. I really think those that are fans of both BF and CoD will really enjoy it. It's 8v8 instead of 12v12 and it is called Conquest Domination. The maps feel CoD buildingish which is not a bad thing. I would say that each of the levels are probably around the same size as some of the mid-to-large size MW2 maps. Also, after rocking the USAS for the last forever I started using the P90 and I must say I love the rate of fire and the less than usual amount of recoil. I played assault exclusively but dropped the med pack in favor of the alt shotgun and I am finally on my way to finishing those unlocks. Maybe I'll find an assault rifle I actually like. I still need to try armored kill.

re: Battlefield Talk

Pretty much EVERY gun that is awarded by completing assignments is better than anything that came with the original BF3 disc. I can't think of the new Assault rifles off the top of my head (FAMAS is one of them), but as I'm gradually knocking out the "10 kills with each new weapon" trophies I'm noticing the new weapons are ALL much easier to start out with. I'm sure you'll find a good rifle in that bunch... the only real drawback is having to complete the tasks of the assignment in order to unlock them.

The armored kill maps are awesome... although the assault class is tough to use on them because of the number of vehicles, and lack of vehicle destroying options available to that particular kit.

Saw you were in Borderlands last night OG. I'm rolling a single player character, but I was a bit too far ahead of you to join in.

I had to figure out how to lock my game to invite only, as two different well-meaning people dropped in and were doing objectives for me when I just wanted to explore.

No worries. I was on hoping that Lee would get on so the three of us could play for a bit. I saw you get on but never saw Lee, so I figured I'd just keep working on my solo character. If I do manage to catch up to you (unlikely), feel free to drop in whenever.

I'm also going to PM you some contact info that you can use if you and Lee are on and want to know if I'm available. I'm really enjoying the game with the three of us and would like to keep it going.

re: Battlefield Talk

Finally opened Borderlands yesterday morning. Had to get a character rolling. Hit level 4 with the Assassin. I've almost acquired his first sniper rifle -- I just have to go collect it. Loving every minute, as anticipated. I just wish it hadn't come out so close to NHL13. My time is severely divided. I'm pretty far behind everyone from what I can tell but I'm always open to slogging through some multiplayer with anyone over or underpowered.

re: Battlefield Talk

I actually had a higher level player drop in with me yesterday, and it wasn't too bothersome other than him doing mission objectives, which I didn't appreciate. He might have been holding back, but the game seemed to adapt.

Really, the raw XP difference between levels is pretty small early in the game compared to later, and most of the XP comes from objectives that only the lower level character gets credit for. I think he was level 11 and I was around 6 or 7.

It's really just important that the lower level player host so they have access to the objectives.

If I see you on, I'll drop my single player character in and adjust my play as needed.

@ flip...the game is freaking awesome, and you need to roll a character with us!!!!!!!!!

re: Battlefield Talk

Followed OG around the Borderlands last night...was a few levels up and was mostly trying not to break the balance of his game...just good to have other players in there.

I think we were levels 11 and 15 by the end of the night.

re: Battlefield Talk

Amazon has all video game deals in the Gold Box today. Looks like two possible opportunities for PS3 headsets - hopefully, one of them is the official Sony headset, which is awesome. The second of these two descriptions strikes me as more likely to be the Sony headset:

4:00 PM PDT - Upcoming Deal
Advanced Bluetooth gaming headset for Playstation 3

8:00 PM PDT - Upcoming Deal
Immerse yourself in dynamic surround sound while enjoying crystal-clear communication on the PlayStation Network

re: Battlefield Talk

On the flipside, I hate the Sony headset... and am considering buying a replacement Turtle Beach rather than use the Sony headset I have.

Glad you caught that. I was worried I was being too subtle for these folk.

It's Friday!

Hopefully one or two of you CoD ****monkeys will make a showing tonight.

If it's slim, I'm liable to switch over to Borderlands.

Use the money on Astros. Turtle beach are flimsy shit. I've destroyed 2 while cruising through games (subtle eh)

Won't work tonight. Busy night and weekend depending on the weather. Flash flood watch for the next 30 hours.

^^^My Turtle Beach headset crapped out on me 11 months after I bought it, but luckily it was still under warranty for another month, so I got a new set for free.

People complained that I was hard to hear on mine, even with the mic right up to my mouth.

re: Battlefield Talk

Wired headset...accept no substitutes.

I got in a game with Spatch tonight, but I couldn't get on his squad, and my squad was camping...so I bailed and found a game on Atacama Desert that started pretty solid and then turned into a double chopper whore fiesta.

Then I said screw it and played Borderlands...such a good game.

re: Battlefield Talk

Guess who was visiting a college campus not an hour from me today:

Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden will visit Gustavus Adolphus College in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the College by Swedish immigrants in 1862.

If I'd had a little bit more notice, I could have brought a picture of my stats page for the Carl Gustav and have him autograph it!
