re: Battlefield Talk
Good stuff Spatch!
I've never had much of an urge to try to get all of the pins, but I'd imagine Rush would afford plenty of opportunities to snipe or get chopper kills (as attacker) or use stationary weapons (as defender). You might not win the game, and or help your team in any appreciable way, but I would think you'd get the pin. I think almost all of my stationary kills have come on tank kills. I hardly ever use the guns, as I find the aiming a little wonky and don't see much of an advantage over the LMG I'm usually carrrying. I think running the assault with 40 mm grenades or 40 mm shotty could be a good time. Some of the most aggrevating people I've played against have used that combo to great effect. No MCOM in a house is tricky. Just sit back and mortar strike and or Gustav until the house falls. |

I'll be around most of the week, but I'm still mainly chasing Vietnam Trophies (Only ones I still need are 50 Huey Kills--bout halfway there, 20 Flamethrower kills--haven't started this one, but I figure it should be easy once I actually go for it, and Sliver/Gold Starring all the primary weapons--have done half of them). I'm a shitty Huey Pilot, so mainly what I'm doing is playing normally, and going thru the weapons one by one, and when someone from my squad grabs a Huey, I jump in the gunner seat.
Just fair warning, if you see me playing by myself, that's usually what I'm doing, just in case you don't want to play Vietnam and/or don't want to reset your preferences in the main game. Feel free to send me squad invites if you want to mess around though. Once I finish those up (and probably once I go thru the Onslaught trophies too--I've already Platinumed the game, but I'm one of those anal bastards who likes to see 100% beside the game in my log), I'll move onto something else as my primary game, but I think I'll still play this casually with you guys. I think we all play casually...we just do it a lot. I don't mind some Vietnam...just had some bad luck with the griefer the other day. |

Hey, you're halfway there! Edit: I also moved you up the list on the OP past two more people. |
re: Battlefield Talk
Miss playing with you guys. Since I started my new job I haven't had much time/desire to play. Now that things are leveling off I've been getting the itch. Are most of you still playing BC2. I know Chess hate BF3 so that's a no brainer. I had heard there was a patch and some kind of DLC released for BF3 but haven't checked it out. Not sure if I will at this point. LOL

re: Battlefield Talk
You need to at least come back and play to level 50!
My issues with BF3 are well documented and are primarily related to the guns shooting like ass and the maps being too small/linear. Only one map in BC2 makes me groan when it comes up (Heavy Metal), but there were at least 3 in BF3 that I despised (Subway/Peak/Bazaar). And they seem to have doubled down on small grinding maps with the latest "close quarters" DLC. The maps also felt a little bit samey, where BC2 really mixed it up between desert/snow/coastal/tropical. That said, there were some maps in BF3 that I really liked. Most of the Karkland pack felt like proper Battlefield, and I liked Kharg Island, the Canals and Caspian Border. Tehran is decent...but feels a little bit like Arica Harbor at night but with fewer buildings and less destruction. But let me know if/when you want to play either game. Odds are that I'll make time to play with you. |

I'll give the thumbs up for this headset also. Not only is it compatible with my PS3 but I also use it with my PC and my Sony bravia TV.

What's involved in getting it to work with the TV? I've googled, but haven't come up with any documentation to explain that to me...

re: Battlefield Talk
While it's been awesome having the wireless headset, I have missed turning up the sound system nice and loud when I play a little bit during the day when the neighbors and my wife aren't home. Will likely go back to my wired Plantronics headset for those sessions.

re: Battlefield Talk
Took my brother out for a couple games of Rush on Valparaiso last night and it was a lot of fun for several reasons. First, he and I haven't played together in a while and second, it was his first time playing the map and he liked it a lot. We attacked first and I took him through my little bag of Rush tricks and we rolled the team easy.
Next up we defended and it was a looooong game! It was only five-on-five for the first few sets of objectives so that made everything take a while. They broke through each time, however, and always with 10-20 tickets left so we put up a great fight each time. Zipped into their deployment here and there and nabbed so many dogtags, it was nuts! Blew up choppers, stole tanks, even used their own UAV to kill a few in their spawn - don't know how I got away with that one! The game went long enough we picked up more players so it was full twelve-on-twelve but they didn't necessarily get any better. I sent mortar strikes on several parked tanks who refused to move and even took out several choppers with HMGs who simply hovered there. In the end, we won on the last standing objective (which was Bravo, not Alpha!) and I don't think I'd ever earned so many pins before. My KDR was 50-47 and while the 47 is pretty high I'm not sure I've ever had 50 kills before. I had 6267 points yet someone on our team managed to squeak by and nab the Ace Pin at the last second which was a bummer. Losing the Ace was made up for, though, when some guys from the other team friend requested me! |
re: Battlefield Talk
Rush is an interesting concept, but I wish it were better executed.
First, putting MCOMs inside of destructible structures is just dumb. Second, every map is a sniper haven. In every Rush game I get in, a least half of my team and half of the other team is sitting back and sniping, which might make some sense on defense, but less so on offense, and either way, it's just annoying. In contrast, Conquest games usually only get one or two full-time snipers, and they are generally easy enough to ignore. Third, the balance in Rush is much more delicate. In Conquest, you can be outgunned and generally hold your own as long as you are organized. In Rush, one team is almost always rolling the other. Finally, that match we were in the other day on White Pass was a real eye opener for me on how annoying Rush can be. We had completely dominated the map, but the other team was able to hunker down in their spawn and snipe, and the game just stagnated that way for probably 30 minutes until enough of our team dropped out in disgust that they were able to take objectives. It's the only time I've been glad to see the game freeze. |

re: Battlefield Talk
I called it a night after getting a second boot, but yeah, good night.
OG, Spatch and Octo were in, and there was even a Vong sighting! We were running two squads of 3 with some other guys I play with, and we were fortunate to have a third formidable squad on our team with Murder4Fun and SecurityOnDuty. Even when we were outnumbered, we were rolling them. |
re: Battlefield Talk
Spatch is dangerously close to lvl 50...nice to see. I'd like to be in game when you get there, so let me know when you plan to play.
Given that you unlock most everything you'd want by level 20, there's really no point to getting to level 50 other than bragging rights, but it's pretty cool to see onscreen, and it gives you (or at least me) licence to just settle in on the equipment that you really like to use and stick with it. |
re: Battlefield Talk
Brutal night in the battlefields last night. One of those nights where every squad/team you get on has no interest in doing anything productive and would be playing death match if they didn't suck at it.
Could have used a few of you ****s for support. |

Actually, as much as I was dreading it, Philly isn't too bad...feels a little bit less "rust belt" than I thought it would.
