Re: Dead Island

So, this game is a blast. I've finished all of the side quests in the city, as far as I can tell. I'm now ready to...

Help Joseph get to his destination, which makes me assume I'm headed into the sewers next. I hated the Suiciders at first, but they're actually great, since you can use them to blow up all the other zombies around them.
As I was doing one side quest, I ran into a guy saying "Help! Come here! Follow me!" so I did. Turned out he was

Got to play some 4-player MP over the weekend and the game was infinitely easier. If anybody wants to play sometime, feel free to add me to their friends list. I can use all the help I can get.

Re: Dead Island

Is the MP the exact same story, quests, etc.?

I always see "Player X" is near you, but I never join them since I don't know how it affects my quests (or theirs)

I just finished that one. I think I am pretty much done in the city as well. I am currently level 35.

I have joined one game and then left, but the quests are the same. I haven't seen the "xxxx is nearby" in forever.

Turns out lockpicking isn't bad after all. I found an orange gun and a couple of purples in a few chests.

Oh and whoever said the only way this game is like Borderlands is the co-op couldn't be more wrong. I keep running into more similarities. The guitar twang when the game is paused. A weapon called "Badass ____________." The characters talking to themselves when they attack or do something. The quest structure. The skill tree.

Yep, same story et all. If someone joins your game, you're lead for what quests are available but the co-op player doesn't have to work with you. They can complete other quests while you work on yours... but beating up zombies with a team sure makes things a lot easier.

I played with three other guys all at level 41 and higher. They were super helpful but sort of left me in the dust completing some quests.

I joined a couple games this morning and grabbed the Menage and Originality achievements, luck of the draw I guess!

I may take you up on it when I get back on it. With GOW3 coming out I just don't know when. I actually thought about trading the game in but Amazon's price is...$15.00!!...no way so I'll hold and wait. I'm still at the Lighthouse getting ready to do the "HELP" letters. I haven't played in almost two weeks.

Yes, yes he was. I basically had to hit him twice, die, hit him twice, die ad nausea.

Re: Dead Island

I'm 53% at the middle of Act 2 or something. Level 23-25. I have played for around 25 hours.

I loved the game when it was in the beach, starting to like it in the city, I still don't like the sewers. Hoping I don't get disappointed with the last act.

I found that the sewers weren't too bad once I stocked up on Deo-bombs to take care of the zombies that throw up. I thought the closer quarters made the sewers easier than the streets in the city. If it weren't for the cars up top I'd be zombie food far more often.

Yeah, I was dying a lot in the city until I tried the cars.

Re: Dead Island

Is anyone else on here playing this on the PS3? I would like to find a player or two I can add and team up with. Either send me a friend request or post your psn name on here and I will add you.

Re: Dead Island

And now it's going to be a movie.

http://deadisland.deepsilver.com/blog.php?page=1

Just because the impact of the trailer.

Going back to the game, this is probably my favorite zombie game ever. 32 hours and counting. Around 70% completed of the main story, still in Act 3. Act 4 is the last one, right?

I think I don't like the missions where I have to do a lot of shooting. And there seem to be a lot by the "end" of the game

Re: Dead Island

There isn't that much shooting, just a few parts in act 4. Just look for the propane tanks or red barrels laying around, they always make sure there are some available it seems.

I'm getting close to my 3rd completion of the game as Sam and I still haven't hit level 50 (45). I'm about to get the analog achievement, which will give me 910 so far, but I am Hell bent on getting the level 50 one.

Re: Dead Island

Is there a pretty big jump in difficulty between Act I & Act II? It seems like around the beach/resort, I could take out 6 or 7 zombies without too much difficulty. In the city, I've had 3 or 4 take me out quite a few times. I kept getting other players popping into my game, so I switched over to the single-player option around the time when I started Act II and am wondering if the difficulty is due to game progression or opting out of playing on Live.

Re: Dead Island

The key is getting weapons equal to your level, upgrading them, and using a mod. Also, you have to search for the cash, because it will take more hits to kill enemies, which degrades your weapons. You need to constantly repair your weapons every time you find a bench. As a weapon gets to be a couple levels below your current level, don't be afraid to sell it off unless it does some ungodly damage. Every weapon I have now does a base damage of 950+bonuses/mods except for the Dev-Modded weapons.

Re: Dead Island

A quicker way to level up is by beating on the thugs with your fists and breaking their arms. After breaking their arms keep punching on them around the shoulder area and you will get critical hits worth hundreds and even into the thousand plus points per punch. You should be able to get several of these per thug. Also, this is much easier to do with a partner as if you are playing alone and die the thug will reset back to normal.

Act 2 was the hardest in the game for me...they corner you and charge you...act 3 and 4 were easy...just avoid combat in some parts in the open and you will be fine...

Wow. I haven't even finished act 3 in my first play through, and I am level 45.

Re: Dead Island

I finished the game. Thank god some random player joined me at the end, so the last boss wasn't that "hard", we still died several times, but I can see how it would be ridiculous if I was by myself.

So, the games stats say that I played for 29 hours, Level 35. Steam shows 39 hours but I think they include the time I was in pause or something.

I missed a few, a lot?, side missions, specially after Act 2, so I will try to get them, although it seems there is not easy way to do that, besides starting a new game, with your leveled up player.

Re: Dead Island

I bought this game and I've been playing it on and off for the last few weeks.

I really enjoy almost everything about it, but I'm getting real tired of the limited weapon options. I'm only level 7 or 8 still, and I'm still in the resort area (been doing lighthouse sidequests), but am I going to start getting some REAL weapons soon? I love love love the melee combat in this game. It is so visceral and brutal. The cleaver is my favorite weapon so far - love slicing off heads - and it has me drooling at the possibilities for other weapons. Am I close to finding some? I figured I would have stumbled on an obligatory axe or something by this point, but a shovel is as close as I can get...

It opens up more in Act 2. As you get more quests under your belt you'll find better items in new areas and get better modifications. Personally I love my pistol with incendiary rounds, my electrified scythe, and mindblowing military knife.

Re: Dead Island

I haven't played this in a couple of weeks. I was in the jungle area in Act 3 the last time I looked. Is it worth it to go through with the other characters or is it just the same thing pretty much sans a few new abilities?
