Dead Island

Re: Dead Island
Does anyone know if there is a level cap? I just started playing this and basically after about 5-6 hours playing; all I have really done after getting to the lifeguard station is wander around. I suck at driving but I am at level 8 and really have only done side quests.

Re: Dead Island
Level 50 is the cap so far I believe. There is a trophy/achievement linked to getting to that level as well if you are interested.

Re: Dead Island
If you're trying to get the achievement for getting through act 1 with all 4 characters, it's pretty quick. Just do the main mission without getting sidetracked and you can fly through in 90 minutes or so per character.

I still have this but didn't have time when GOW3 was released. I won't trade it in since i really want to finish it plus do co-op as ell. I personally liked the game.

I have never died so much in a game before...
Now at level 16 and at Act 2 but I didn't know that I was going to Act 2. I stopped after getting to the church.
You can cross over freely back to the island area correct? There are some side quests I want to finnish.
Not a bad game but man I like to explore somethimes like I did in Fallout and not be constantly attacked all of the time and it just is not possible in this game. And I hate that weapons degrade so fast... that does make it a challenge. I don't think I have killed a thug yet without dying at least once first unless I have a bomb or molotolv cocktail.

Thugs aren't that bad, they just take practice. What I usually do is I walk close enough so they try to hit me, then step back quickly. Right after they miss, I move forward again and hit them once. Every couple times, they'll stop and growl. That's when I move close again and hit them 3 or 4 times. You have to be careful, though, because if you stay close for too long, they'll knock you to the ground pretty easily. After you've done this a few times, it gets easier. It also helps to have a weapon that your character is particularly efficient with. For example, I'm using the sharp weapons expert chick, and I pretty much only use Machetes and other blades. Upgrading the weapons helps a lot too, and they don't get damaged as quickly as a brand new weapon you pick up off the ground.

Ugh.... I have not wanted to quit a game so badly before. Man this game pisses me off in Act II you can't even stand still without getting mobbed. At least I finally found some guns but a couple of swipes and I am dead. It is really taking the fun out of it. All you can do is run in the city basically.
How do you kill the ones that explode without taking yourself out?

...or throw something at them (a shitty weapon) or shoot them once. Don't t hrow a good weapon at them, though, because if you die, sometimes they won't be there when you come back, and neither will your weapon.

New patches are out today.
Among other things... apparently, kicking now requires stamina.

Well I finished the game. I actually found it really enjoyable. I'd say the hardest part was Act II.
That said, I don't think I'll bother with the DLC for this one. I'm just not interested enough.

Best Buy has this @ $29.99 this week.
Is it worth picking up at this price or should I wait for it to go further?

I say it's easily worth $30. Use the knife-chick. She's the best.

Re: Dead Island
It had split reviews. Some people hated it/got bored with the game.
I'm on the side that thinks that it's a game that delivers at $60. For $30? It's a steal!

I picked this up for $30 over the holidays and IMHO is worth it.
BTW, is anyone interested in playing co-op on the PS3 for this? I'm finishing up Act 1 in the single player but I wouldn't mind starting a co-op game too.

Re: Dead Island
Finally got around to plucking this game out of my backlog, and couldn't stop playing once I got into it. Finished all achievements, bought the Arena DLC, then finished that as well. Played entirely solo until I had finished my first playthrough.
It's not technically perfect by any means, but it's a blast to play nonetheless. It would be a GOTY-level game if it was a bit more polished.

I picked this up for PS3 during the last sale at GoHastings for $13.99 + shipping. It arrived yesterday and I played for a couple of hours. I have been enjoying it so far.
