Re: Dead Island

LOL!

As the team is still working on fixing the Savegame-Issues some PS3 Users are experiencing, we would like to offer these players a workaround solution in the meantime.
Before starting the game, please make sure to disconnect from PSN. This should resolve the issue. If playing Co-Op online, the games savegame function should work fine.
Please be aware there is no guarantuee this will work for everyone.
Many thanks for your understanding.

Is anyone playing in the PS3?

BTW, really loving this game.

Re: Dead Island

For the two other people here that are playing this on PC, I found this really useful tool:
http://www.theplaywrite.com/tools-an...to-edit-files/

It lets you play with a bunch of settings (many of which you can just edit yourself). Including removing bloom and desaturation. After I did that and increased shadow map size to 4096, it has made the game look so much better, not that it was bad looking to start with.

I just wish someone could figure out a quick save mod (or if the developers would just add it).

I'm playing on PS3. Haven't run into any save issues. The game is buggy as hell when you get to the city though.

I've been using that tool, really helpful. Haven't tried map size of 4096 only 2048, but will try that now.

Level 12 and only Chapter 3, I guess that's still part of Act 1.

Re: Dead Island

Now if only we could control the draw distance on objects. That's still one of the most detracting things about the graphics. Other than that (and MSAA support), this game is fantastic looking.

I think I'm like level 24 in Chapter 13 or so , Act 2. Something like that. Probably spent around 12-14 hours in it so far.

Re: Dead Island

I just got my first Developer Mod weapon and damn that thing is nice! It's a mindblowing military knife and any time you hit an enemy with it their head explodes instantly. Makes things much, MUCH easier. Costs a lot and takes 5 diamonds, but totally worth it!

You have to find hidden skulls, I think there are 5 to get the crafting recipe, then you craft them.

Re: Dead Island

For some good natured idiocy and mayhem check out Giant Bomb's Thursday Night Throwdown featuring Dead Island. Gives a good peak at the game and LoLs to be had.

Re: Dead Island

Quick question: I'm still early in the game playing the mission where I have to find three cans of food for Sinamoi... I found one can and I gave it to him but he says he needs more (which I knew). Do I only have to get two more cans or do I have to give him all three at once? I thought I read that there was a glitch that if you don't do all three at once, the game doesn't keep track of giving him what he wants piece by piece.

You should be able to find a couple more cans and turn that in...I say should because as you have read some of these gather missions are glitched...but not every time. One time you might be able to turn in one item at a time...the next time it might only work if you have all three. If there is a reward for turning them in, like a bomb or something...if your inventory is full that item might disappear forever.

I am loving this game though...

Re: Dead Island

I just completed the Fire Hydrant quest in the city. Those big guys with their arms tied are a pain in the ass. I died a few times before I realized that you
Spoiler:
only have a short window of time to attack and (as far as I can tell) can only attack their head. I haven't tried going for their legs.

Re: Dead Island

They are pretty easy. Just wait for them to dash, and then do a side jump. Once they run past you, you should have enough time to keep hitting them until they die. You can only do damage to their backs, and I guess their heads as well.

I just started seeing those spitter guys. I haven't figured out a good strategy for them yet, especially in the sewers where movement is so restricted.

I am using the fast chick, but I just ran toward them, and circle them as I swing...they turn slower than you, and in a few seconds they die...only thing that messes this up is if other infected slow you down, so I try to get them to come to me behind cover before attacking the floaters

Re: Dead Island

Okay, yeah, I'll probably have better luck trying that once I get out of the sewers.

Re: Dead Island

Yeah the Spitter guys are easy for me. I do the same thing, but kicking them alot helps. It stops them from spitting. Kick, kick, hit, kick, hit...etc.

Re: Dead Island

Almost done with act 3 and I have to say it has been amazing...and fortunately you don't get attacked by an endless supply of zombies that kill you in two hits like some parts of act 2....

Re: Dead Island

I finished this last night...great game! I was pretty happy with the achievement gathering, but I'm playing a bit more today to try to grab another hundred or so. I did find all 72 locations, and also got the 120 collectables, so I'm happy with that.

Spoiler:
...and finding Jason Vorhees was a real freakin' shocker!!!
