What's the multi-player capacity for consoles?

There's a good artilce in the lastest Gameinformer about the so-called biggest head-to-head game match with BFF:3 vs COD; MW3. In all honesty both games are setting some pretty serious new standards but what BF has done with No 3 has taken it to a new level. I just wish I had the money to do some upgrades to the pc for the PC version. I have some friends who are getting both versions.

I would love to enjoy the big battles for this on the PC, but I'll just be getting the 360 version. I'll also be buying MW3. I really wish we could have the capacity for players that the PC does. So disappointing.

Yeah, it really is too bad for console players. Anyone who has played the 'Heavy Metal' map on the console version of BC2 knows how boring the really big maps are with only 24 players. You need 64 people just to fill them. Even Harvest Day feels pretty barren at times.
On the consoles, I almost always play the smaller maps. Oasis on conquest is probably the best map in BC2 for consoles.

Re: Battlefield 3
I think all of the maps except Heavy Metal feel about right on consoles, and I like that there's not some twitchy prick around every corner.
I also like the player limit because one organized squad can really have an impact. The more players you have, the less a 4 man squad can influence the outcome.
Atacama Desert is probably my favorite map overall, and it's not one of the smaller ones.

I'm actually looking forward to the co-op play. It's been awhile since the COD:World at War where you could do 4-player coop campaign which I miss. BF:3 looks like it'll offer more than enough for SP, co-op and MP.

Would console players be bummed about having 24-person multi-player if they didn't have the 64-person multi-player to compare it to? I think not. It's all relative.

I'm a little bummed by the lack of split-screen co-op. That would have been nice.

Re: Battlefield 3
The RAM of my PC died (4 GB down the drain) so I decided it was upgrade time. I ordered a Corsair High Perform Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1600MHz 4-pack of RAM and a XFX Radeon HD 6850 Black Edition 1GB DDR5 PCIe video card (to replace my Sapphire Radeon HD 5670) from TigerDirect.
Once it's all installed, my new setup will be the following:
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Corsair High Perform Vengeance 16GB (4 × 4GB) DDR3 1600MHz RAM
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHz
XFX Radeon HD 6850 Black Edition 1GB DDR5 PCIe
MSI P55M-GD41 Mainboard
Aerocool PGS Qx-2000
Can't wait to play Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3 on that setup.

16GB of RAM? Well, now you are set to run 4 copies of Battlefield 3 and 4 copies of Mass Effect 3 at the same time, at least memory wise.

A RAM drive would be way faster than an SSD, I don't think it's difficult to setup either. However the space would of course be a lot more limited than an SSD.

No, the software will copy back and forth from the physical drive before/after reboot. It's not a big deal, save games should be stored in Documents & Settings. Unexpected powerloss shouldn't really matter.

Re: Battlefield 3
Any tips for upgrading the graphics card in time for BF3? I'm running a dual core E6550 with a 8800 GTS card. The cpu upgrade would require a mobo upgrade as well, so I'd like to avoid that. Started looking at the number of gpu options out there and it's ridiculous.
Any tips on best bang for the buck? I know for sure the 8800 GTS won't even touch it on minimum settings.

I've never used any Ram Drive software, but the basic idea is you tell it what content you want to be mirrored on the Ram Drive, and then when the machine reboots it will copy over the data again. It all would happen behind the scenes.
Honestly it's probably not worth the hassle unless you are bored or don't already have an SSD and of course you have the RAM to spare.
