Sometimes like with Sleeping Dogs they do. But not always. For $9, you should just keep the cart. The few gigs of memory that the free version would take up are worth more that that

FYI : For those, like me, who travel with their Vita but don't like bringing a long power cord and charging block, I found this nifty little device at Amazon for $5.

It's great. It turns your proprietary USB data cable into a charging cable. You can finally plug the cable (with adaptor) into an iPad charger and charge your Vita. Nothing fancy, but it definitely works and saves a lot of travel space.

So, why can't we just plug the Vita's cable into the charger?

It charges fine when connected the PC, what is different about it and any other USB charger?

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread

The Vita requires a data connection, so without the power brick it will only charge using the USB port on a PS3 or a computer (and will only charge with a computer with the power turned all the way off). That little adaptor is the only way it can charge with a standard USB plug. It eliminates the #2 annoyance about the Vita (but unfortunately does nothing about #1 -- it won't make cheap memory cards).

Weird, my Vita charged earlier today while I was backing it up and copying games to the PC.

Maybe because there was a data connection?

I don't think it was charging. When in charging mode, the PS icon turns amber. I just tried plugging in my sleeping Vita into my PC using just the USB cable and the PS logo glowed blue for data connectivity, not amber for charging. I unplugged it, snapped on the little white adapter-thing and replugged it back into the PC's USB port and the PS button glowed amber.

Does that also work for charging PS3 controllers?

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread

PS3 controllers will charge with any USB plug; you don't need any adapter for that. Before getting a dedicated charging station I used to plug them into the USB port on my cable box.

not into walls though (at least not with iphone charger).

I also find it weird, when I charge with my computer, I need to re-pair it with my ps3.

It may be a voltage issue if it won't charge with an iPhone charger. It certainly has nothing to do with data connectivity (which is the Vita's issue). So if your controller won't charge in a wall outlet, I'm pretty sure it won't charge with that white adapter connected either. I'd bet it would charge with an iPad charger (which has a higher voltage), but I haven't tried. Seriously, the USB port on your cable box works great.

I've tried probably 5 different mini-usb phone chargers that I had laying around on my PS3 controllers and none have worked. Given that the Wii and PC both work, I always assumed that data rather than voltage was the issue.

It's hardly a crisis, but it would be nice to have a mini-USB plugged into the wall and tucked under the front of my couch so I could charge while playing if the need arises.

I was just curious whether you'd tried it.

PixlJunk Monsters : Ultimate HD is coming to the Vita on July 30th. It's remastered in HD for the Vita and has 30+ hours of gameplay as well as online and ad-hoc co-op. It'll be $14.99

It's a great game and looks amazing here, but I'm not too jazzed to have to re-buy this game for the third time. Maybe it'll be a PS Plus freebie someday? :fc:

Wasn't it already in HD for the PS3?

Yes. But this is an upgrade of the PSP version which added levels, but wasn't in HD.

I fuckin love PixlJunk Monsters. Pretty sure it's the only game I've purchased through the PS Store. Keep it up Sony, you might just sell me a Vita yet.

This is awesome; thanks! One less outlet I'll need to use on my power strip.

I read that you can hide trophy lists of games that you select with the new firmware. Now, you don't have to show off you Hanna Montana Plat. You can hide it but still have it show up in your totals. I've also heard that this affects peoples' completion percentage, which is unfair if true.

Interesting, I wonder if this'll carry over to the PS3 and PS4.

I don't know if I'd use it, as my percentage is almost 96% already. But I am ticked off with games where the platinum is now impossible to achieve because the online servers were shut down (like Ghostbusters).

There still isn't the option to turn off the blue light on the PlayStation button?

Hoping for a price drop announcement at Gamescom. Would like a Vita for remote play, as it's about the only way my kid will ever get to play PS4 in our current setup.

There was a rumor of a ~$500 PS4/Vita bundle. That seems a little bit too low to be realistic, but I'll bet they do bundle of some sort pretty close to launch. PS4 and PS Plus are the best sales pitches yet for the Vita IMO, and I actually think remote play could be a killer app for the PS4 if it's marketed correctly.

The only problem is that if I do get Vita hardware, I don't see me buying any software for it. I see it as more of a companion device for the PS4 than I do as something I'd ever take anywhere, and I already have a bunch of games from PS Plus.

I'd say 80% or more of my Vita games have come free from Plus. I buy some PSN games when they're on sale too. The only full price games I've gotten are Persona 4 and LBP (which was on a big sale).

Remote play is one of the best features for PS4. I just get more time to play on Vita then I do PS3 on the big screen. So I'd love to be able to play games like Ni No Kuni on Vita, I just haven't had the time to put it into on PS3, when I have time for that its usually Last of Us.

I feel the same way about it, and if that bundle came to pass I'd even consider passing on my Launch PS4 and order it instead.

But having to swap those Plus games will be annoying. Why couldn't they just use SD? Maybe 1 8GB card would be enough, but I don't know.

I have a feeling they will do a PS4/Vita bundle to clear out some Vita stock. Then a couple months later, announce a new redesigned Vita.
