I haven't played this for a week since I'm out of town, I'm totally going through withdrawal - dreams about it every night.

That's funny, the same thing happened to me (dragon attacked as I exited the college) and all of the mages just unloaded on him. I think I got maybe one or two lightning spells in before he was toast.

Ah, picked mine up at GameStop a day or two after release and they were down to two remaining. It's a pretty cool book, I consult it fairly frequently.

I look forward to the dragon fights now and actually chase them down when I see them. A few fireballs until they land, then it's go-time with my sword. The worst part of a dragon fight is carrying the scales and bones afterwards...I've had 3 of each on several occasions.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -- November 2011

Hack and slash a bunch, and spam healing potions or spells as needed? There's very little strategy involved in combat in this game, really, and not much variety from enemy to enemy. (This is my biggest complaint about the game, by the way, especially right after playing Dark Souls with its precise, specific, and beautifully flowing combat.)

You could try using ward spells if his magic is really destroying you, but really, the best strategy for all enemies in the game (at least, the ones where sneak+archery=instakill isn't a viable option) is hack and heal, repeat until they go down. If all else fails and you're stuck, drop the difficulty down a notch for that specific fight.

Mine finally shipped so I'll have it in a few days. I'll likely gift my regular strategy guide to a family member or friend for Navidad.

Are those worth anything besides 250/500 gold? It seems like a couple weapons or pieces of armor in a dungeon usually weigh less and are worth more.

I often end up tossing mine.

They're used to create and upgrade some of the best armor in the game (light or heavy versions) once you get your Smithing skill to 100 and unlock the perk.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -- November 2011

Just finished the main quest and I have to say I don't get why people thought it was much better than Oblivion (the main quest). I found it to be a pretty big let down. Hardly had the epic feel of Oblivions last few missions.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -- November 2011

finished with achievements....the 1000 bounty in 9 places was just annoying...

I sort of wish I had done the daedric missions earlier, as the rewards are amazing...

As long as we're talking about complaints, my biggest one, by far, is fining people and places. The map is no help with places, and even if it's on the compass, you usually have to guess as to how to get around a mountain or something - pain in the ass. But even worse is finding specific people. I'm supposed to find someone, or go back to someone after I've already met a hundred people - how am I supposed to keep these names straight? And even if I know what city they're in, most of the time, I have no idea how to even begin looking for them.

I haven't gotten 100 BS skill yet, but from what I've read, Daedric armor is better (at least for now). I'm at around 550 armor right now with full daedric + shield and a few of the armor increasing perks.

What's the best light armor set that can be found/purchased/rewarded? I'm not putting anything into smithing, so making my own isn't really an option...

I'm partial to the Guild Leader armor for completely finishing the Thieves Guild. You can find plenty of glass armor later on. I've found one piece of dragon armor but it was the heavy type.

I just bought this on Black Friday. Wife said I can't open it until Christmas. I am counting down the hours -- so excited.

Thanks, I'm in the middle of the Thieves Guild story anyways, so should get it soon.

My full Daedric set is 1017 AC, with my level 100 smithing plus some extra smithing armor and potions used while upgrading it

Wow, that's insane. I did use a potion, but I didn't have 100 BS nor do I have the main Heavy Armor perk maxed.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -- November 2011

Yeah, I think I had a 50% increase in smithing potion, plus some bracers (+17%) and a ring (+15%)
Sadly once you hit a high enough level and get some decent armor, the game is not remotely challenging. I'm level 55 and I don't think iv'e seen my health drop down at all since I was in the mid 20's. The game is WAY too easy

That was great. Him describing the "burial" was really well written.
