It's out on Xbox. PS3 is later. All UK players (regardless of console) get it next week. Unknown when PC players will get it.

Do not look at this spoiler unless you want to see one of the changes before you play the Extended Cut.

Spoiler:
Fourth Ending:

Re: Mass Effect 3

here. just watch them and save yourself from replaying the game. skip to about 13 minutes in to get to the new stuff: http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/...-3-new-endings

Spoiler:
pretty generic. very little actual cut scenes. it's all narration with still frames. the same still frames for each video. *yawn*

Re: Mass Effect 3

Wow.

Some good bad, some funny, some not so good.

Thoughts:

To me, control ending seems the 'best' ending honestly based with the new information, still have some fear that could take a turn for the worst, based on the voice over...

I dislike that they retconned
Spoiler:
The destruction of the citadel and the crash landing of the Normandy. You made the choice, stick with it.

I liked that they filled in the gaps and answered some questions

Also the major new thing
Spoiler:
That new ending is a Bioware Trolling the fans that wanted to tell the starchild to go F**k Itself. Fine you want a choice to tell him to go FU, then you lose.

I liked how
Spoiler:
they had different narrations based on the ending
, but I disliked that they just
Spoiler:
still images for many of the ending scenes, come on Bioware, you couldn't come up with a few moving images?

Re: Mass Effect 3

Anyone know how far back BioWare recommends going if you've already finished the game and want to see all the new stuff? I have a save from right before the "point of no return", but this Joystiq article says something about going back to two missions before the end. http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/26/ho...t-even-sooner/

They don't go into specifics, though. Anyone have a link to someone from BioWare explaining this a little? I have a lot of saves from the last few missions and could use a little guidance to avoid wasting too much time.

Re: Mass Effect 3

Well, I wasn't planning to, but I went ahead and watched all four new endings.

Was that really so fucking hard BioWare?

Re: Mass Effect 3

Galaxy Readiness, as in the previous edition, does affect how much ending you get. My "I did everything" Shepherd got one of the long endings. My "I did the minimum" Shepherd only got a small epilogue.

Re: Mass Effect 3

But I don't see what's new during the Cerberus base mission onward. Everything seems old hat until you get to the Catalyst.

I think the 2GB limit is what forced them to go that way. I wish they could to a seperate update down the road to correct that.

Was there a reason why they couldn't have 2 parts?

I have no idea. All I know is they said they were limited to 2GB because of the Xbox and that limitation carried over to the PC and PS3 releases of the DLC.

Re: Mass Effect 3

Just in case you don't want to go through having to keep re-playing the ending 4 times, here are all the new endings (with a Fem-Shep):

Control:
Spoiler:

Synthesis:
Spoiler:

Refusal:
Spoiler:

Destroy:
Spoiler:

I think I like "control" the best (with "destroy" being a close 2nd) and feel that it's the most fitting ending for the series, for the way I played it anyways.

Re: Mass Effect 3

Synthesis is my favorite. But the new version of Control is all kinds of awesome. All in all, I like what they've done with the endings.

I ended up using a Citadel: The Return save file to go straight to the ending. There are quite a few changes right off the bat there,
Spoiler:
spelling out how Hackett knew Shepard was aboard the Citadel (the radio chatter was also changed from a declaration that everyone was dead to that of an all retreat because they were overwhelmed), and a tweaked version of Shepard's arrival on the Citadel that was obviously designed to negate IT.
And my actual ending was somewhat different than the one in the youtube video. For instance,
Spoiler:
I saw Kasumi with a holoraphic version of her boyfriend (instead of a lounging Zaeed, even though he lived in my playthrough) and Eve was shown in the flashbacks if the fallen scenes. Even though I saved the Genophage cure in ME2, she died in my playthrough of ME3.

Re: Mass Effect 3

I noticed that before you get to the beam and you get to that endgame blast
Spoiler:
You call for an evac and have your squad mates rescued.

Sorry, but where is that exactly? I have a save from about 2 hours in and 2 from almost at the end, 30-some hours in. When I load the last one it says, "Attack the Elusive Man's base" or something like that. That's what I see standin at the galaxy map. I would like to see what they've done, but I'd like to get there with as little time re-doing this as possible. Thanks~

Re: Mass Effect 3

Isn't the Elusive Man's base the same as Cerberus's base?

Re: Mass Effect 3

I still don't get why Bioware says you have to start from Illusive Man's base. I honestly didn't see anything new there. I was hoping we'd get a cinematic showing
Spoiler:
the Reapers take over the Citadel (and maybe even have such a scene change with regards to who lives/dies depending on how many of the Citadel defense sidequests you accomplished)
but the whole part plays out exactly the same as before. Now from Citadel: The Return onward the changes are obvious.

Crap, my Galaxy Awareness numbers are going to be low, aren't they, since I haven't played with the iphone app or multiplayer in some time? Ugh.

Don't worry, the EC patched the requirement to be as low as 3100 now.
