Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
To be fair, I remember beating one of those long endurance races in Gran Turismo on the PS2 by taping down the analog stick and then watching TV.

Isn't that even more of a testament to how shitty Joy Ride is considering he nabbed 3rd?

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Joyride is sh1t, but you can't judge the entire device on just that one game. I have played Adventures, Sports, Dance Central, and Fitness Evolved and they are all good games.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Dance Central is ridiculous  I have no personal interest in the game but picked it up as holiday entertainment for the family (namely my cousins that pop in when I visit the folks), a friend of mine tried it out and she failed pretty miserably, seeing people play the game right is kind of unreal as they are pretty much memorizing full on choreography (accurate or not) at that point.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Dance Central is a workout. i am sweating like a pig after a few rounds. :)

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
She was actually pretty impressive. That's a workout right there.
Can't wait for the "risque" Kinect videos to start rolling in. Here is the first one I have seen. NSFW link to a couple of topless girls doing Kinect. Yah! Spoiler:

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Not just any girls, NUTS girls.
|
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Fail!
Those girls are topless but they could be playing a Move or Wii or just watching TV. There's no video of Dance Central or any other Kinect game. |

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Judging by the very few reviews that have trickled in, I'm not the only one thats been having issues with EA Active 2. So damn disappointing.
Tried some Dance Central today for the hell of it, embarassing to say the least but man does it work up a sweat. I think that Teach Me How To Jerk (still funny as hell) song may be physically impossible for those with even mildly bum knees. Spoiler:

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
I am soooooo tempted to get it but I go back and forth in that I can just go run outside with my Garmin GPS watch and Nike+ wristband, or bike inside with the bike trainer and cadence monitor or outside on the road, or go to a coached swimming class, or to a group class at the gym including Zumba, TurboKick, or Spin. I don't know how much use I'd get out of it. I hate at-home exercise DVDs, I don't know if this would be more fun and the whole progress and charts factor would keep me going.
|
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Ok, decided to get it. Reason? Times like these where the gym has like ONE class a day. I wish I had one right now. Too cold to work out outside, no gym group classes. And I like the idea of getting a quickie workout in. Where is a good place to buy online? It's so cold here it's painful to walk outside, period, nevermind bike or run or anything else. Amazon doesn't carry it and I'd like to avoid tax on it.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Make sure you get Your Shape Fitness. It's a top notch fitness program.
|
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
I was going to start with Dance Central and EA Active 2. I plan to get EVERY fitness and dance game (except ones like Zumba that have 2 star ratings due to poor accuracy) by the time I'm done over the next couple of years. But where can I get one?
|
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Amazon per se doesn't carry it, but there are 295 Amazon sellers, many of whom will have their orders fulfilled by Amazon.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
I've done two workouts in Active this week. So far I'm impressed. I haven't had any major issues with it like some do, but I have the ideal play space, so that's a big factor. It did drop me on my first attempt at a floor exercise, but once you figure out where the camera wants you, you can find it every time. If I had to compare it to Kinect Adventures, it prefers you be in the "Good" space for the floor stuff, vs. the "Best" area further back.
The heart monitor is pretty cool. It's nice seeing your heart rate during the various exercises. |
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Brought this out for the family to use (cousins and what not) during Thanksgiving, was a huge hit with everyone there - Dance Central and Kinect Sports for an extended period -- Party Mode in Kinect Sports is fantastic fun.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Rich2 - where did you buy it?
JasonF, I don't want to pay more than $150 for it. |
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
I got mine from Best Buy, they seem to always have it in stock here. Same goes for Toys R Us.
|
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Going to try to hit up Best Buy tonight or tomorrow then.
