The left hand out to get to the menu thing has never been a problem in other games for me, but on here it's triggering non-stop during dodgeball and soccer since, oh yeah, that's where your hands go when resting. The menu controls with the hand mouse are the worst I've seen so far as well.

Maybe it's just my room setup, ugh. Will re-organize things later and see if it works better. Only bad experience with the Kinect so far, shame it had to be for something I was looking forward to.

Does it feel like it has alot of content?

Odd, Joystiq gave it a glowing review.

Retailing for $100, EA Sports Active 2 is going to cost you a pretty penny, but if you're serious about fitness gaming it's worth spending the extra dough. The hands-free motion control with heart monitor alone is worth the price of admission. But fortunately there's more to this game than just a gimmick – it's a solid effort all-around and a surprisingly fun way to get fit.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?

I've had issues with it dropping me (Unrecognized User) when trying to do push ups/sit-ups and some issues registering technique on a few band exercises. But like I commented on earlier, I'm pretty sure it's just my setup, unlike the other games this one really does require a full 8 ft with full visibility of the floor.

There is a lot of content in the software itself, and it is a killer work out. I'm just expressing some frustration. The software will kick your ass into shape. The exercise band that comes with it is a lot better than I was expecting and the heart rate monitor works great. Though hearing "Now Squat" and "Balls" over and over again gets unintentionally funny.

I'm going to try and reconfigure my living room tonight, will post any updates.

Also, unrelated, Kinect Homebrew:

Pretty cool video. It's going to be interesting to se all the stuff like the above coming out each week with people tinkering with it.

In other thoughts, why no BF specials on the 250gb Kinect bundle? I know they are pushing the 4gb like mad just because it is a cheaper price point but no special at all on the 250gb is just dumb.

Do you happen to have Your Shape Fitness? I am contemplating returning my $33 copy of Your Shape Fitness and buying EA Active 2 for $80. Is it worth the extra money?

I don't have Your Shape: Fitness Evolved so I can't really judge it...

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?

Well, I went and bought it at Best Buy since as someone here noted, they're into their Christmas return policy already. Lots and lots of sensors there. Tons. I have no idea why Amazon is always out of stock in the product. I didn't check to see if they fixed their demo at all, but maybe that's the reason they have so many.
I got them to price match TRU's buy one, get one 40% off deal and picked up Kinectamils and Dance Central. Best Buy tried to refuse to price match, not because TRU was out of stock in the titles (they actually were, but Best Buy didn't check), but rather because they claim that there's a new corporate policy to only price match stores within five miles. They agreed after I pointed out that 1: there's no new signage with that limitation, 2: the website does not reference that new alleged policy and 3: TRU was within a 5 mile radius anyway. Certainly that was more work than I anticipated. Anyway, got apparently the only two games worth picking up for a semi-reasonable $80 + tax (about $40 out of pocket after using Reward Zone certificates and a $10 GC I've kept in my wallet for months).
Of course, I'll have no opinion on the system or games until after Christmas, but at least I don't have to even entertain the thought of them running out now.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?

I set mine up and played for about 5 minutes yesterday. We only played the bundled game -- but it was actually FUN! My 2 year old jumped in while I was trying it out and the game immediately recongnized him and assigned him a psuedo-avatar. Since he didn't know what was going on, he didn't work in "unison" with me on the river rafting game and it was actually hard to steer :) When he jumped, the boat jumped. When we jumped together, the boat jumped higher!

This thing has a ton of potential and I'm 100% happy with my purchase so far. That said, I'd NEVER use it for my mainstream gaming and don't see how anyone ever could.

I can see me getting it but after some of this Holiday Hype and demand wears off. And as with all "new thing" I tend to do a "wait & see" approach. With some great games coming up later this year and the first quater of next looking solid I'll probably start about next spring on a purchase.

If you're going to get one anyways, don't wait until after the holidays. This is the perfect family fun device this season.

In other words, it's the perfect excuse to buy a toy for yourself and still get credit for getting something expensive and cool for your kids for Christmas.

Just got this delivered this week. My humble opinion is this is the future of gaming. I've just been playing the included Kinect Adventures with my wife and we are having a great time. Not to mention getting a work out in the process. Our 20 month old daughter is actually getting into this also and enjoys watching her character on the screen flail around.
While those on this site will bitch and moan about anything that comes out. Simply put, if you want to buy it, buy it. You'll have a great time. If not, move along. I for one, welcome my new Kinect Overlord.

Uh-huh. The future of gaming? So in five years, everyone will be controlling their new, hot, mainstream games by flapping their arms wildly and kicking their legs? I respectfully disagree.
Do you know the best way to play the most technologically advanced PC games of 2010? With a Keyboard and Mouse, just like we did fifteen or twenty years ago. It's like how we control a car in nearly exactly the same way as we did fifty years ago, with a gas petal, a brake pedal and a steering wheel. Once you're over the age of seven, you begin to understand that certain established controller inputs are far more efficient, responsive and precise than wildly flailing around.
Is the Kinect a cool new technology? Yes. Is it a potentially great new means of motion controlling certain subset of casual games? Perhaps. Is it the future of gaming? Not as long as avid gamers want tight, accurate control in their games.

You're wrong. We've already seen that this will happen no later than October 2015. Less than five years.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?

Looks like I will be getting one. My mom was asking what to get for my son for a "big" gift and I told her he has enough toys already and is already set to get a ton more for x-mas. Told her about the Kinect and how much he liked it at Best Buy and so she bought one tonight. Now I just have to buy the software. Looks like I will get the big three (Kinectimals, Sports, & Dance Central) and will wait til after the new year to decide if we want to try an exercise one. I still want to see more reviews and have some extra time to spend with the Kinect before I jump on one of those.

The only thing that sucks is that since my Mom got it for him, we won't be able to play with it until x-mas or right before.

WTF are you talking about? This thing reeks precision.

 That video says a lot about the course designs in Joy Ride, but it doesn't really say much about the precision of the Kinect.
