Was it before mid 2009? Because that's when I first got into Rock Band and started following its DLC. If not, then yeah, I'll chalk it up to bad memory on my part. Which also plays into me feeling old.

While I'll pick up Second Chance, I'm not really a big fan of Shinedown.

This is one of those weeks I wish HMX would be more like they were in previous years...giving us a multi-pack of one artist as well as a handful of singles from others. Hopefully the TAG business will take off and 'll be able to get more music from those "mid-level" artists missing in the weekly RB DLC. (I wonder how those acts feel about being called that, btw?)

*It could be a HUGE modern rock hit and I'd still be oblivious since I don't really listen to the radio anymore.

I just read about that Kickstarter campaign and hope it succeeds, too. For those not in the know: http://www.rockbandaide.com/15602/pr...label-artists/

In for Second Chance & The Crow and The Butterfly.

Avoiding Bully. That's one of the worst songs I've heard in a while.

Oh yeah.. Should've said good/working guitar. :)

Lots of the top "pros" still use the XPlorer. I'm not one of those, as I tend to like to rock out, rather than sit down and hit every note like an animatronic robot.

Awesome.

I'm probably the only person here excited for these songs.

Too bad only one of the songs is off Fallen.

I'll be picking the pack up. I haven't heard the new song. Lithium wouldn't be my first choice for another song off of The Open Door, but it isn't terrible.

Couldn't care less about next week's DLC (will buy as normal) but really excited for the announcement on the 4th and the TAG initiative! Hoping the announcement on Wednesday is Rock Band 3.5 with
-25 to 35 song soundtrack of well known fun songs with one or two new artists
-Fixes to all of the annoying things regular players have to deal with like reselecting most filter options each tme you play
-A new story/tour mode (just bring back RB2's system if nothing else)
-More clothing/mod options for the characters

I'm thinking that's what it's going to be (RB3.5). More than likely with Kinect support added.

I've got nothing to back that up, just a hunch.

I just want them to fix the PS3 version so I don't keep getting booted to XMB all the time. :(

All-Instrument mode can suck it. Let 5 of us play at same time and keep score. That and a new story/campaign mode would be fun.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Things I'd like them to fix..

3,000 song cap - I'm not there yet, but will be at some point.
Bring back challenges - I loved RB2's way of dynamically creating new challenges whenever you got new DLC
More clothing - The shirt I wore in RB1/2 was no longer there in 3. I was disappointed, as it's something I own in real life.
All-instrument mode - Let us play 5 players online (also, show all 5 people on the screen)
Better sorting/filters - Let me play a random song from the 4-star category, or random unplayed, for example
Failing - In RB3, you fail super fast. Going back to the "old" scale, I could probably pass a handful of the super-difficult songs legit.

I'm sure there's more, but that's what I got off the top of my head.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Two other things I'd like.
-Keep our Rock Band 3 scores, ratings, and goals just build onto the shell of the game. I've started playing a lot more in the last 6 months and really want to put off replaying 50% of my songs just to get scores.
-Have your top score (band and instrument) listed under the artist name and title track at the start of songs

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

If they aren't going to keep RB3 scores, I wish they'd at least take the opportunity for scale the scoring based on difficulty. Keep 25 points per note for easy, but 50 for M, 75 for H, and 100 for X or something. Because I get tired of getting lower scores on X than people that played on H just because our performances were similar. Or even against myself when my H score beats my X score.

And bring back beginner difficulty! Why did that go away?

It's weird that they would have a cap since you would think they would want people to buy however much you can.

Have you ever sat down and roughly figured out what Rock Band has ended up costing you, Shagrath?

Tomorrow night's X-Play is suppose to have the "exclusive" Harmonix announcement.

Totally agree with having a higher H score than X being annoying. Only have it on 10-15 songs but bugs the hell out of me when I see them.

What was beginner difficulty?

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

It was just in Lego: Rock Band, I believe. It basically just took the easy or medium note chart and dumbed it down to beats. Every note just looked like a kick drum on the instruments and you could hit/strum anything and it counted. It was good for kids.

I will rage if the next iteration doesn't carry my scores over. I've got scores for all of my guitar (with the exception of a few), bass, and vocals. That's about 2,300ish songs!

Also, allow me to lighter songs per instrument. Some songs I love to sing, but hate the guitar charts, etc.

I think there is about a 0% chance their announcement is going to be any kind of Rock Band sequel. Hopefully they will prove me wrong though.
