I like Foo Fighters just fine. It's just that we have so many of their songs in the game already. I'll pass on it, but I know that many people will be happy to get these songs.

I'm still bummed that we haven't gotten any ELO songs, or more Radiohead songs.

I would love more Radiohead. I think the "excessive" amount of Foo Fighters probably means that they are just a lot easier to get from a licensing stand point. They also are proven sellers.

And they have the #1 album right now. The only way it would make more sense is if it was ready when the album dropped or just a week after.

From elsewhere in that interview:

"We try to work closely with artists to release their music when it makes the most sense for them. Ozzy Osbourne is a good example. Ozzy is re-releasing two legendary albums – Diary of a Madman and Blizzard of Ozz – at the end of this month so this was the right time for Rock Band to participate in the excitement that this will undoubtedly create and release some amazing DLC from those albums."

And

"we’re not planning a Rock Band 4 disc release in 2011."

A 6-pack of songs from Blizzard and Diary sounds about right. "I Don't Know", "Mr. Crowley", "Steal Away (The Night)", "Over the Mountain", "S.A.T.O.", and "Diary of a Madman". I have a feeling we'll only be getting 2 songs though.

I was really hoping they'd release Wasting Light in its entirety. Not to say they won't eventually, but doesn't sound like it just yet.

Is this the first time the 10 minute song barrier is being passed? I thought they couldn't do songs that long. And if that's the case, bring on some live Phish. (suck it haters)

I'm pretty sure the 10 minute limit is for RBN only.

Apparently "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" clocks in at 10 min, 14 sec..."The Camera Eye" is 10 min, 40 sec...AC/DC's live version of "Jailbreak" is 11 min, 44 sec...and the longest (I think?) is the Who Super Bowl Smashup at 12 min, 48 sec. If you count The Beatles, the Abbey Road medley is like 18 min.

I'm psyched for it since their new record is probably one of their best, if not THE best album they've ever done, so any tracks off of it are something I definitely want.

I'm in for the Lady Gaga as well - finally a month where I'll be downloading more than 1 track. I haven't gotten anything since Death Cab and even since then I haven't played RB3 more than once.

The new Foo album should have been done in its entirety, but I'm also happy for Stacked Actors, so whatev.

• Lordi – “Hard Rock Hallelujah”

Nice. Lordi is a fun listen and some great guitars. Problem is, I tend to buy songs that I can sing, not for guitar (exceptions: Satriani and Timmons). And I just don't possess that death metal voice :). (Glam metal, sure, death metal not so much).

Lordi vocals =/= death metal vocals by a long shot.

He's a little gruff, but not "growly" like a real death metal vocalist. I'm fairly certain that these will be charted as pitched vocals.

Yeah, I guess you are right. I was trying to remember it in my head since I don't have my cd case with me right now. Death metal wasn't the right word. I put them together with Gwar as far as genres go. Comical you really shouldn't take them serious but damn if there isn't some awesome grooves metal perhaps :)? Maybe I'll give the song a go, I still have so much to buy like the Billy Joel and Bon Jovi stuff. Oyie...I need points :)

I really don't understand why so many people pair up Lordi with GWAR. Sure, they both wear costumes. But they don't sound similar at all. Lordi is more of an updated version of KISS, and GWAR has much more emphasis on punk and metal.

I can certainly understand that. Gwar is much heavier, sure. But for some reason, even before I saw what Lordi looked like, I was already comparing them to Gwar. Heck, I listened to about five, six songs before I even looked them up. The costumes just were the icing on the cake at that point.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Personally, I don't think they sound anything alike. I'm sure I could let my mom listen to a GWAR song and a Lordi song and she'd say they were from different artists as well.

Oh well, to each their own.
