Sweet! My Mustang and P-Bass got delivered despite showing no updates on the Mad Catz site. I can't wait to finish work and fail some songs.

The bass controller in that set is probably the best guitar controller I've used since the PS2 GHII controller.

I am sure it has been discussed before, but do any of you have thoughts on the Rock Band 3 cymbals vs. the Rock Band 2 variety. Is the set of 3 worth the extra $10?

I've got the RB2 set of 3 and love them.

You can't play Pro Drums with just two cymbals if I'm not mistaken, you have to have all three. Assuming that's true, then yeah, $10 is a no brainer.

You can play pro-drums with no cymbals, . You can also play with 1, 2, or 3. That said, get 3, definitely.

Really? Wow. What's the difference between that and just playing Expert then?

Nothing. The points a gem is worth goes up though once you add a single cymbal.

He was asking about cymbal version (RB3 vs. previous), not cymbal quantity (3 vs. 2).

This. I am thinking about getting the RB3 3-pack vs. two RB2 2-packs. The price would be the same, but I would have an extra cymbal in case one goes bad down the line w/ RB2. Or I could save $10 and get the RB2 3 pack. From what I can tell, the RB3 are better, but I just wondered if any of you could comment on how much better they are. I am a total n00b 4-5 staring easy/some medium, but I just got RB3 and am very interested in doing pro-drums.

I've never used either, but I've taken a look at Shagrath's RB3 cymbal pack, and they seem to be pretty decent in quality. They are angled slightly, and have a bit of flex in them. I'll probably play on them a bit later today, so I can comment more then. I've never used the RB2 cymbal's though.

RB3 cymbals are better than the RB2.

Softer, better response, less chance of double hits, quieter, more comfy.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

While we're on the subject, I need to upgrade from my RB1 drum kit so I can go with the pro-mode add ons. I imagine I'll have to do some digging, but I'm assuming the best plan would be the RB2 drum kit with the RB3 cymbal add ons. Anyone know of any RB2 drum kit deals off hand?

Why not just buy the RB3 drums if that's all you need? It's basically the Beatles kit with the cymbals packed in.

Because I didn't know they branded a RB3 drum kit. Cause I'm a tard I guess.

Would that be a cheaper route than a RB2 kit with the cymbal add ons?

I think the RB3 kit retails for $130. You might be able to find an RB2 or Beatles super bundle for less than that and then add the cymbals in.

I know the beatles was $99 BF and is regularly priced $130 at gamestop. I'm sure the bass and game could be sold to offset the price.

$128 at Amazon w/ free shiping http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Beatl.../dp/B001TOMQUS

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Patch out today:

http://www.rockband.com/forums/showt...10#post4203810

Fixes pretty much nothing I care about.

There is a plan to release another update in the near future to address numerous other items, but these were the most pressing issues that we wanted to target as quickly as possible.

• Arena 12 Freeze (aka The Roadie Amp Loading Screen of Death) – If the amp loading vignette occurred immediately prior to an especially resource heavy venue it had the potential to cause a freeze. Your band should now be able to load their gear uninterrupted.

• Save Data Affected By Especially Long Band Names – Custom / Random Setlists specific to artists with especially long names (most notably Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, Honest Bob and the Factory to Dealer Incentives, The Presidents of the United States of America, etc) that were not completed before playing through to the next auto save could result in corrupted save data.

• Iron Man Eyebrow Freeze in Character Creator – The Character Creator would sometimes seize up when reselecting the default eyebrow for the Iron Man pre set face. All eyebrows are now safe.

• Pause Scoring Exploit – To prevent abuse of repeated pausing mid-song to pad a score, we now disable score reporting on any song in which a player repeatedly pauses. Your crowd meter should go grey and you will not be able to complete any goals or achievements tied to score during that play through.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

I'm sure it's been bitched about before, but I really don't like that all the "Quickplay" venues seem to be generic "video shoots". I want dirty clubs and sold-out arenas and rockin' stadiums. Boo.

I have gotten the roadie freeze a lot, so that's definitely appreciated. I really wish the PS3 keyboard screech had made this cut, though.

Yeah, the roadie freeze is top on my RB3 fixes wishlist. I get that freeze a whole lot and it's very frustrating.

People were actually doing this?

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

I have heard that you can stop the roadie freeze if you wait a second or so between picking your song and picking your difficulty, or just play setlists.

I've only had two freezes in 200+ hours of playtime, and those were in the first few days when I wasn't playing setlists.

Yep, the only two times I had the roadie freeze was when I rapidly made my instrument and difficulty choices. I thought it was just a coincidence. Glad to know now I can blaze through my choices safely!
