Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I don't care about achievements in this game either (the only two music games where I've cared about achievements were Guitar Hero 2 and The Beatles: Rock Band), but I think it's a terrible precedent to include on-disc achievements that require DLC purchases. It's basically the developers saying you can't have the full experience unless you pay more. In fact, now that I think about it, it sounds exactly like something EA would do. I wonder if they had a hand in that decision.
If you want achievements tied to DLC, attach it to the DLC. Offer a Queen pack with new achievements, or the Nevermind album. Don't make it part of the disc. I know they get a significant amount of revenue from DLC, but when they're putting out new instruments that would set someone back halfway to a grand, maybe they can at least let us get all the achievements with the material already on the disc.

I just picked up a stage kit from GameStop, and was wondering - do I have to have the fog machine connected to get the lights to work? I plugged it into the USB, and the mic worked just fine, but the lights didn't come on.

You do have to have the fog machine part connected but there are switches on the back to turn off the strobe and/or fog.

Since this is the worst game you've ever played, why should anyone care what you think?

So, about 2 hours ago I got an email/text alert about the first RB 'Legacy' DLC. I have no idea where it came from but I'm surprised no one else mentioned it. Unfortunately I was in the middle of something so I just skimmed the message on my iphone and decided to 'cancel' instead of 'view' the whole message intending to read it later. Well now I can't find the damn thing. I have no idea where or from whom it came from. Very bizarre.

Pretty sure I saw something about Boston and the Police on there.

Jesus christ...think doesn't cut it! The strange part is, there's no one backing you up - not even RockBandAide.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
So I just got that. I have no idea where it came from either. WEIRD. Here's the text:
The Police Premium Music Pack
Now available in the ROCK BAND Music Store!
Featuring all time hits "Message in a Bottle" and "Roxanne"
EDIT: Oh. I just actually clicked view on the message and it goes to the iPhone app. So, mystery solved? Those aren't new songs in the app though. So, I dunno.

I guess I just see it as a handy way of finding out which achievements/trophies would be attainable if you wanted to buy DLC.

Drex, for LBP, and I assume the other games, the trophies came with the DLC, so they didn't show up in your list unless you bought and installed the DLC.

Coincidentally, Neon Trees came up in conversation with friends at the bar last night. I hadn't heard of them before then either but I'll be checking out the songs when I get a chance. Anything my friends like, I'm more inclined to buy if I'm ambivalent about it.

The Neon Trees aren't wowing me. Based on a small sample, they sound like a dozen other forgettable bands.

Their song Animal was the free iTunes single of the week a couple of months back. It's not half-bad.
