Money is not an issue, but I also think I will wait until the "collectors" edition comes out....Like I said above, had I not missed out on the pre-order deal I might have jumped on, but since I missed it I don't plan on spending 100 bucks for the game and all the dlc. 39.99 or less for the collectors edition that will come out in Nov-Dec this year sounds much better.

Except the Collector's - err - Signature Edition was a pre-order exclusive. Outside of eBay or some retailers having leftover stock, you're SOL in that regard. So your best bet is to wait for an inevitable UE release.

That said, is this a common practice for Bioware? Other than the PS3 release, I haven't seen anything Ultimate Edition-ish for Mass Effect.

I thought Bring Down the Sky was always a free DLC, unlike Pinnacle Station.

A I the only one who gets no audio from this video (not even from the 720p download)?

It worked fine for me. You're not missing much, just music and a bunch of grunts and yelling.

Didn't know wether to put this here or in TV Talk.

Re: Dragon Age 2 for 2011

Just played through the demo on 360, the combat felt great. Defiantly can't wait till this game comes out. The demo wouldn't let you access the inventory, but everything seemed to be there from the first game. They also increased the font size on the codecs thank goodness my old eyes couldn't take it. I skipped most of the cut scenes so as not to spoil the game, but I do like the Mass Effect style conversation wheel.

Re: Dragon Age 2 for 2011

Seem's there's a contest for the PC demo:

February 22, 2011 marks the launch of the Dragon Age II Demo and a Call to Arms for all BioWare fans. We are actively recruiting an army of Champions, and if we get over 1 million demo downloads and logins on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 combined before March 1st, we will unlock two in-game items for the entire community to use in Dragon Age II. Demo download progress will be tracked on this page, so check back often!

To get your download counted, you will need to log into your EA account while playing the demo.

The items that will be unlocked are*:

The Far Cliffs of Kirkwall - Written by a Fereldan refugee as she fled the Blight, this book of poems describes her dreams of a new start in Kirkwall, the city across the sea. Readers will surely be enriched by her insights. (Gives money when read.)

Lothering's Lament - Written by a Fereldan refugee as she fled the Blight, this book of poems contains touching reminiscences of all she had to leave behind. Readers will surely benefit from her experience. (Gives XP boost when read.)

Re: Dragon Age 2 for 2011

I liked the demo as well, but I am a big Bioware fanboy, so whatever they make, I play

I thought the Mass Effect style of convo was nice as well. I didn;t like the button mashing to attack, though. I believe the first game was auto attack unless you used abilities. I guess it makes you feel like you're doing more this way?

Either way, I can't wait for March 8th. My wife's due date is March 25th, so this might be the last game I can really focus on for awhile.

They also said Origins was going to be a spiritual successor to the Baldur's Gate games. Origins was a good game, but nowhere close to being in the same league as Baldur's Gate. Even the PC version of Origins with its more tactical overhead style wasn't really as good as Baldur's Gate.

If you prefer the tactical style of the first game, get the sequel on PC. Although the attacks are faster than in the first, it's the same point-and-click attack style of DA:O.

Demo crashed just after Carver was laid to rest. Now I have to start over from the begining.

Re: Dragon Age 2 for 2011

The demo sold me on the game. I wasn't a fan of the first on the 360 because the difficulty curve seemed uneven and it seemed like a big step backward from the ME games.

This one seemed a little hack and slahsy but good fun.

Any place doing a good pre-order bonus? Amazon isn't offering any kind of cash for the next purchase which surprised me.

Amazon had the whole pre-order and get the Signature Edition upgrade free, but I assume other places did that as well.

Re: Dragon Age 2 for 2011

Just tried the demo and mine froze part way through it.

I liked the first one, but this seemed like a huge step up. Can't wait for March 8th.

Holy crap, look how much people are trying to get for the signature edition! If there's a chance to get even half of this, I'm selling mine and just buying the regular.

$260-$300?!

Re: Dragon Age 2 for 2011

Just finally played the demo (hope I qualify for the free items!). Love the updated graphics, the clean streamlined interface.

Not... totally sure how I feel about the combat. I'll see how it plays out, but having to continually hit the attack button made it so I wasn't able to concentrate on the rest of my team. Maybe that only means I'll finally have to use the tactics menu this go round.
