Re: Dragon Age 2 for 2011
PS3ers just have one code to redeem that unlocks all the bonuses for the Signature Edition.
Also, all PS3 users get the Best Buy preorder bonus and the other preorder bonuses by 1st visiting http://social.bioware.com/da2/bestbuy/ and selecting whichever UPC code is from you box. 2nd, click on your profile and then register games and then register your same UPC code under Dragon Age II. Unfortunately what this means though is that we don't get codes to sell off to lessen the price of our game.

It feels wierd this game is out already. It feels like there were no previews, videos or big lead up to the release. It seems like it was just rushed and put out there pretty quickly just from there being no hype or anything for the sequel.

Gamespot is giving out early access keys to the Dragon Age Legends on Facebook which unlocks 5 other items. You can get the first two items in about ten or so minutes of your time.

It was a mishandled thing on the PR front. Chaos.

I'm only a few hours in, but this game is lacking the epic feel of the first one for me. After the first quest of the first game I was drawn in, in this one all I am doing is what seem to be side quests. Hopefully it will all come together though.

I did the quest last night where you have to track down the son of the Elf in the alienage and I think I spent more time in load screens from having to bounce around from area to area than I did playing the game.

You must not have ever tried the PC version's nightmare mode. Without proper strategy and tactics, you quite simply will not beat it.
Heck, even the PC version's normal mode requires some tactics because it is more challenging than the console version. The console version has no friendly fire even on normal, but the PC does. The PC also throws more enemies at you than the console does.

I'm enjoying this one so far. Even though I liked the first one, I got a bit tired of it by the end, so the fact that they changed the play doesn't bother me at all. I'm enjoying going around hacking everything in sight.

I'm enjoying it so far. In the first one, my guy was always yelling at me ("Alright! Alright! Get off my back!") because I was already button mashing, so the change in combat is to how I had already been playing.

I'm at about 10 hours now and there are some things that are I'm glad they tweaked.
I wasn't real happy with the change in the inventory system they did from Mass Effect to Mass Effect 2, but I'm glad that it looks like they scaled it back in this one. There was so much shit to carry around, especially if you did any crafting that you could spend a half hour just trying to figure out what to keep.

18 hours in...on Act 2..
So far better than the first game. All the problems with it are overwhelmed by what I think is a vast improvement in combat...and loot.

I'm still on act two, but the game has grown on me. The story is nowhere near as epic as Origins, but that wasn't the intention. Your decisions definitely have more impact on the story unlike the first one where it seemed your choices more or less help choose what army you led in battle at the end and who you romanced (that is up until the very end of that game, then your choices mattered).
I like the battle system, but do miss the auto attack. There are time where my character is basically not attacking anyone because I am not facing an enemy directly. I wasn't an CPU player so this system is definitely geared for consoles and I like it.
I am ok with the easing of the inventory. I like the fact I don't have to find tons of elfroot and other things like that constantly. I don't mind the lack of armor for your companions, just leaves more money (maybe too much money).
So the companions aren't as good as Origins, there is no one as compelling as Morrigan or as fun as Shale, though I hold a soft spot for Merrills innocence. My biggest gripe with the characters is that Anders is your only healer. The least they could have done was give Merrill the ability to get heal, like Morrigan could in the first. My next go around I am playing as a mage that heals so I won't be tied to Anders.

I agree with this 100%.....they needed one more healer...
I am getting close to the end I think...near 40 hours.
I am having more fun with this game than 1. Fenris is a stud(my fav. in the game)....the support staff does take a while to engage you, but by act 3 you really start to get caught up in the companion quests...and some of them...holy shit...
Combat system for me is almost perfect.

Re: Dragon Age 2 for 2011
Finished it....
I liked it better than the first...easily the best game so far this year (though admittedly there is not a lot out yet)
It took me about 41 hours..and I probably did just about everything...the first game took me 47 hours..so it is about the same length...

100 hours into Fallout 3
Not counting dlc and multiple plays to see everything...it took me 46 hours to finish the first game (my second run to choose the options I did not pick the first time was 38 hours)...there were no quests left, and I explored every nook...I don't see where 80 hours are at??? Counting all the dlc though, I am at 78 hours...
