That's the vibe I got from the first few minutes. But I've never played the game so I'm not sure. All I know is that it's apparently legit as it's also a download on PSN.

Shoot the bear in the legs a couple times to slow it down. Sometimes it'll start to run away, you can chase it down easily.

How far into the story are you?

yeah, also don't try to do it when more than 1 bear is after you. kill the others if there are any. bears are only fast when running right at you so shoot it from your horse a couple times and then jump off. if you run around to the back of the bear, it won't be able to charge at you. this took me forever also and I had to youtube it...

I'm done with the story. Finally killed me a bar this morning.

I was just getting all sorts of stupid bad luck trying to make this work.

I'd shoot the thing in the legs... chase it down... except you can never catch the thing unless it hits a tree or something. I could just... never... quite... slash it. While I'm chasing that one, inevitably, another bear would just maul me... or I'd just get shot by some asshats in a tent. Bear lovers I guess.

Most of the time I'd keep trying to shoot the legs in deadeye only to have the head bow down into my leg shots. Dead bear.

But then it just took me one try this morning. Seemed so damn easy. And that makes me mad for wasting 45 minutes yesterday trying to do the same damn thing.

I asked about where in the story because there's a point where you have to kill a bear to progress and it's one-on-one with a handy checkpoint just before it so you can experiment with bullet counts and if you accidentally kill the thing, you can just jump off the cliff you're on. That's how I did it.

Does dueling get tougher as the game progresses? it seems pretty easy to score a disarm shot everytime and get +100 Fame. i have yet to try the pop the hat off thing though.

If by "tougher" you mean "more broken," then yes.

Long story short (and the conversation exists in this thread if you could be bothered to search for it) is that the non-story duels are like that. The story duels appear "broken" because you can't disarm your opponent no matter how hard you try.

Speaking of killing bears, how do you do it with ONE shot. Been trying that for a day or two now but they just won't go down.
