Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!
Is anybody else having trouble with a couple of the challenges, bug-wise? I'm on Master Hunter Rank 5 where you have to kill 2 cougars with the melee knife and skin them...I've done this about a dozen times now and it's still not counting it. WTF! The progress bar shows it being 3/4th's full, but it will simply not complete even though I've done it 4 or 5 times since then.
Also I'm on rank 8 of Sharpshooter, I've disarmed and shot off numerous hats and it is also 3/4th's full and just doesn't want to give me the completion.

Are you sure there isn't a secondary objective in those challenges? I can't remember all of them, but I know some were mixed.

It says "kill 2 cougars with your melee knife and collect 2 cougar pelts."

Hit the button for more information, and it should tell you exactly which parts it thinks you have completed. (for example, "you have killed 1 cougar with your melee knife and collected 2 cougar pelts").

Just a quick question about the "Gang Hideouts". When does the one for Fort Mercer happen? I've done all the others on the USA side except for that.

After I did the "Attack on Fort Mercer" I got the one to meet Irish by the river. However I doubled check my "Gang Hideouts" and still had two on the USA side. One at Gaptooth and the other Fort Mercer. I went and did the Gaptooth but it's not letting in the Fort. I run around the Fort and I don't get that...."you're nearing a gang hideout" message. I've popped a few standing on top and I hear them yelling but nothing else.

Well I don't know what happened to trigger it but after I completed all the missions with Landon Ricketts with the last just around the corner from Fort mercer, I went by and sure enough got the meet so & so to do the mission.
By the way just where is 'Blackwater"?

There can't be anything more difficult in the game than killing the bear with the melee knife for Master Hunter rank 8.

just watched a dog urinate at Armadillo. I think it's hilarious that the developers felt the need to add that animation

Anybody else having trouble with sharpshooter rank 5 -- the one where you have to kill two different animals in one Dead Eye? I've tried all sorts of different combination (wolf/bird, wolf/rabbit, deer/armadillo, etc.) and nothing seems to work. Is there some trick to it, or did I just run into a bug?

Win five finger fillet in Torquemada is definately the most difficult thing in this game. Here are some tips for master hunter rank 8 soften the bear with two or three shots first then go in with the knife.

Really? I thought that wasn't hard at all. I think I mentioned this before, but the key to winning FFF is to get to know the pattern and dial it in as fast as you can, as if it's a combo in a fighting game.

Caught this to but it happened about 3-4 feet from a store thief I hog-tied and brought back to the store owner to kick. Oh...ever so close.
On a side note i started to see my real first bugs in the game last night while in Mexico. I tried to run to my horse after capturing two convicts but instead looked like I was floating along the ground in a standing still position.

The thing that's really annoying is that another goddamn bear or two come running out while I chase the bear that I softened up for the knife kill.
