I rode all over Hanging Rock area and still no kid?
Areas relevant to Stranger quests are purple on the map. They'll show up on your minimap when you get close enough, but you can open your main map to see where the purple area is and ride in that direction.

In the case of the quest you're talking about, look
Spoiler:
a little north and a little east of Hanging Rock

When someone approches you with "HELP" and they're not marked with a (?) on the map how do you take the mission? I had the guy approch me on horseback about saving someone from being hanged and all he did was just stand still after he spoke. Nothing came up about "follow so-and-so to save ...." I checked my my map for a marker and nothing. Few minutes later got..."Failed they died" or something like that.
You don't accept anything -- just follow them/save them/do what they say and you'll get fame and honor (or not, or lose it) depending on what you do.

Given the option of...Dead or Alive...how do actually capture them alive? I hit someone and knocked them down but they kept getting up and running off. Nothing popped up about "Hit Button To Capture" or hint what to do so I had to shoot them.
You need the lasso. Once you have it, you need to lasso them, hogtie them, and take them back to the sherrif.

You get the lasso
Spoiler:
on the McFarlane ranch -- the third or fourth quest you get from Bonnie gives you the lasso as a reward.

Yeah I understand that its just Iwould never spend money on a code that could be used up already. Be I have a great feedback score on ebay so maybe I can sell it.

Well it looks like MP is going to be a no-go for me. I've tried it about five times and it always bumps me from Free Roam within minutes of starting up and then just sits on the loading screen forever. Yippee.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I finally finished Mass Effect 2 so I can now jump into this one. Talk about a change of scenery!

I tried free roam for about an hour last night and didn't have any issues. What's the point of earning money in that mode? And do you get something for clearing out one of the enemy bases? I was having trouble figuring out what to do, exactly, to earn XP. Then I saw the challenges in my stats, so I spent about 10 minutes rolling around to at least get to level 2.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

What problem are you guys having with the duals? I haven't lost yet. Here is what I do.

As soon as the word "dual" flashes on the screen, hold down the left trigger. A targeting reticule will pop up at the guy's feet. Move it up towards his body. When it gets to his chest, start pumping the right trigger. The faster you pump it, the faster your blue gauge fills up. When you hit the top, BAM. You unload full clips into these cocksuckers.

Also, this world is huge. However I still find it annoying how padded out the missions are. I have had enough of this "follow" or "escort" this person somewhere. I swear 80% of the time to complete missions are just getting there.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I just got a "ringer" in horseshoes. I sure can't do it consistently though!

Duels can also be won by shooting the gun out of the hand of the other guy. You get more fame and whatnot for doing it as well.

Do I need to use the same e-mail as my PSN account to join the Rockstar Social Club?

The more vital the area you target is, the faster the meter fills. I just aim for the head and pull the trigger repeatedly - never fails. Sometimes when I want to get cute, I shoot the gun out of his hand first.

So I was playing with the volume low and didn't realize the train was right behind me on my left as I was riding on the road near the tracks. I took a left turn to cross the tracks and... whammo!!

Nope, dumb chick is claiming that the auction said it was for the game, and it took her boyfriend to read the description and tell her it was for the code. So that makes me at fault apparently.

Not that you would or even really should, but don't you just love how sellers can't leave negative feedback for buyers anymore?

I have never sold anything on ebay... but if this is the case then doesn't it make it really damn hard for a seller to know who is legit and who is a load?

I'll try again but I looked on the big map and no "purple dot no-where near Hanging Rock

Well that's just it...he rode up while on the horse and then just stood still. I even moved around on my horse and nothing, just stayed in the same place so that's why I was like, do I push some button or what.

Thanks for reminding me on that. I read about it earlier before I got the game and totally forgot about it. Did like punching them though.

It's actually a rather large purple circle, and it's northeast of hanging rock.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

K&A Jones - are you sure you didn't already complete the 'first' part of that mission (if we are in fact talking about the missing kid mission)??

I say this because the purple dot (which sticks out like a sore thumb on the map) by hanging rock only leads you to a quick review of "eveidence" followed by a quick cut scene that shows marston holding up a shoe and looking at some blood on the ground.
