It was the only one I wanted and the only one I've played (still have DOA Dimensions shrink-wrapped). I've never played it before and since I don't have a classic controller, never got around to trying it or any other VC game on the Wii. I really like it and totally feel like it's worth the $30 I paid for it as a deep, fun portable game, though the camera is super-frustrating a lot of the time.

If I had a 3DS, it would be my only retail purchase right now. I played it (never finished it) on both N64 and on gamecube.

How is that odd, Alanis? Have you seen the other games they have to offer?

I won the XBLA version off that fraud Trixie a few months ago. Still haven't played it but I wasted quite a few hours growing up playing it.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

Since we're already going way off-topic on this thread with Qix, there's a really cool 3D clone called Cubixx as a PSP Mini that was on sale for a dollar after the PS Store went back up. It's my most-played mini and sometimes I'll play it on the PS3 as well. Great downloadable game.

Really? I just got used to centering the camera behind Link and never really had much problem with it...

I keep getting hit by things I didn't see. I guess I have to get in the habit of re-centering the camera all the time. But that is pretty much what I meant by a frustrating camera -- one that doesn't re-center appropriately and gets stuck on things. It's not a deal-breaker and I'm so happy to finally play this game. Maybe I'll check out Legend of Zelda : Majora's Mask on the Wii VC next. That is the name right? They really went with "majora"? Was the back up name "Clitoris Hat"? Anyway, I'm sure that a 3D remix will likely come out as well -- especially after this one sells a million copies in a month on a poorly-selling system.

I didn't say it was ironic. It the first million seller for the system. So, to answer your question:
Is playing OoT-3D for $40 something that people value?
Yes, it is something that people value.

Just a word of warning on Majora's Mask: tt really is a love it/hate it game (I liked it a lot). It has a time mechanic that was very unique for the time and is kind of the red headed step child of the series.

Majora's Mask is basically "The Legend of Zelda: Groundhog Day." I happened to really enjoy it, but it's not for everyone...

I answered my own question, thankyouverymuch.

Do they actually value it or is it just the best thing available and they justify it to themselves because they have the system?

Break down the million units!

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

That's interesting. I had always just assumed it was more of the same Ocarina gameplay. I'd still like to check it out sometime.

I'd also like them to do a Mario 64 remake on this system as opposed to the DS abomination. Between the analog nub/disc and the improved processing system, I'm sure the 3DS would make a fine version of that game (that I've never played). I wonder if they'd consider doing that since there's already the DS version.

According to my detailed analysis, 354,328 men aged 27-35 would have paid up to $47.58 for it. 23,245 valued it at exactly $40. 10,498 valued it at $40 + a $15 gaming coupon (of that number, 8,254 were willing to step into a Kmart to get said deal). The rest of the sales were due to it being the best game available in a sea pond of garbage.

I am curious as to how many people will go the CAG route and buy/price adjust it to get the free games. Do you think we will see a really big sales jump this month?

Majora's Mask is DAAAARRRRRRK. Like the whole game is doom, the moon is relentless.

God I hated that game passionately. The only Zelda game I never finished.

Ok, I never finished the GBA or DS Zelda games either. But god, I hated that game, and I wanted to make the point dramatically.

I've never read this one way or another : Does the 3DS have the processing power required to port 3D versions of Gamecube games? There were a bunch of those titles I wanted to try last generation.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

So I messed around a little with it this afternoon and watched a 3D OoT video. Seems like I'll be having this for dinner:

It looks like the PS Vita has been officially announced as not coming out in the US or Europe until some point in early 2012, so no PS Vita at Christmas this year. That is fantastic news for Nintendo and the 3DS.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

I jumped on the bandwagon today. Traded in my old DS Lite and about a dozen 360/Wii games that I was done with to knock it down to $100 out the door for the 3DS and Ocarina. I popped in the first 10 minutes or so of Ocarina and played around a little with the 3D camera and face-shooting game. The 3D looks better than I expected and I'm happy I upgraded. The only downside is that about 30 minutes of dicking around and 20 minutes of downloading the software update knocked a bar off the battery. I turned off the wi-fi and am hoping that helps when I actually play games on it.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

I love the manual aiming in OoT so much. It's hard to do with the 3D on, but it just feels so perfect.

Welcome to the club guys.

And before anyone accuses me of console bashing, I have a PS Vita on preorder and I am personally disappointed that it has been delayed, but it is without a doubt great news for Nintendo. The only reason I'm fine with that delay is that it will allow the 3DS to catch on even more so this holiday season.

Are there any major holiday releases for the 3DS announced?

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

I got this picture on my email today from Nintendo announcing something called BearShark.

Is it just me or is this picture all kinds of wrong?
